    I clicked on this video because I thought it looked interesting, and I was intrigued that the K24 had an open deck. But this video is superb, straight to the point, clear, outlined brilliantly. It's excellent. I hope Honda forums have this sticked at the top of their appropriate forums.

    Hi Milan, I've taken apart many Chevrolet small block V8 engines from 265 cu in in the 1955 Chevrolet to 283 and 327's. Every one, even those well taken care of always had sludge everywhere. In spite of the tiny bit of sludge you found I was amazed to see how clean that engine was inside. A tribute to modern day detergent oils. Good luck with this project. Tom U.S.A.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 роки тому

      Hey Tom. If you think this engine here is clean, boy do I have good new for you!! When I did the timing chain on my Honda, the engine was SOOOO much cleaner with literally ZERO sludge. I can only imagine how bad the old chevy small blocks were!

  • @probong2053

    so i searched on google on bing and multiple different forums. your the only one to tell me the difference between a 2008 tsx and a 2009 tsx. and for that im gonna subb to u. when it came to this question i had it took nearly 30 mins of searching to find out the damn name of the engine of a 2009 tsx.
    k24z3 for 2009- whatever i dont care
    k24a2 2004-2008
    and u even showed the block and how it attaches differently then the k24a2.
    thanks alot i cant believe its so difficult to find this simple info on any search engine.

    Nice video! I think those plastic pieces are from the oil cap, looks like the threaded part. No idea how those pieces would get through the oil drain back holes in the head though. Also, that engine really doesn't look bad inside at all in my opinion. No it wasn't spotless, but I have seen way more engines that look way worse than that than engines that look that good or better.

    I'm a heavy equipment tech and I never understood what the big deal is with a Honda crank pulley bolt . On dozers, front loaders and cranes 75 percent of the machines bolts are as hard or harder than a Honda crank bolt, way harder . I use a snap on or ir titanium impact and it does the trick for me . I've ran into some really stubborn bolts on big Cummins and Cat engines and if the impacts won't get it I use a chain wrench to anchor the pulley and a long 1/2 or in some cases 3/4 inch ratchet for the bolt . Depending on what it is I'll use a 3/4 inch impact which I know nobody is going to use on a Honda .

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing! On a large engine, I can see why a 3/4" impact might be needed, but I think these Honda bolts are on too tight.

  • @MrManuel1329
    @MrManuel1329 4 роки тому +3

    You didn't explain how to properly loosen cylinder head bolts. Depending how their torque down it's either inside out when loosening or vise versa. Failing to realise this can cause your head to warp.
    Also I believe that oil pump is attached to the counter shafts which is why it's so big it helps with vibrations.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 роки тому

      The oil pump on these engines has balance shafts which helps reduce the secondary forced from the crankshaft. I will be changing my pump out with a better one when it comes to the reassembly :)
