Relatively speaking is it "chunky" given the sports watch pedigree and multiple complications? I recommend you read "Hamlet" if only for the edification that you "doth protest too much."
The size of the watch is not a problem for me. I have a 43mm x 15.8mm chronograph and it is not too big for me. But I’m not everyone. Most people would not choose to wear this because of its size, regardless of the price. I like Omega, in fact I have an Omega, bought new 3 years ago. But if Omega REALLY wants to innovate, create a movement that does everything this one does, but smaller. Smaller in diameter and smaller in height. I realize that power reserve may suffer, but if most can’t wear it anyway then power reserve is meaningless. The next big breakthrough in mechanical watch design will be in miniaturization. That’s how I see it. Excellent video as always! Very thoughtful and thought provoking.😎⌚️🍸
I am never comfortable with the WR quoted for a Speedmaster. I have a 1985 Speedmaster Pro and the watchmaker who serviced it told me not to swim wearing it, "Personally I wouldn't shower wearing it" he said! These new cases and issues may be different but I am always wary of watches that do not have screw down crowns and pushers.
Great presentation. I love both versions, but no way I’m paying 17k. I hope to possibly get one used in a couple of years for less, but who knows if that will happen. Personally I like the blue one
I bought my speedmaster day-date in 2006 brand new for 3.200euros.Now nobody buys it ,not even for 1.300euros and it's in pristine condition with all service cards.Great watch but if I went back in time I would have never bought it.Same with my rolex...
Although i do not own any Omega, I find them to be an amazing brand, and would have no fear in a new movement. $17,000 + is too rich for my blood. As I grow a little older, and wiser I hope, I do gravitate towards smaller and lighter watches. Also I am in the "I need a date complication club" so I must pass on this one, but nice video :)
I think it's cool and they look great, but wow that is a huge price leap over their existing 44mm co-axial METAS moonphase models, which are only USD$11,500. I agree meteorite deserves a premium and yadda yadda new movement, but it's not some great generational leap in movement over the existing models. I think Omega is just slowly trying to bump up their pricing to be more in Rolex territory with every new model release. They have every right do do so, just like we have the right to complain about it.
Picked up the blue model yesterday at my Omega AD. I have large wrists, and will not wear anything under 41mm. The price was expensive, but compared to the Rolex Daytona (White Gold) with Meteorite dial, I think it's a bargain. Not to mention the Daytona is a 40mm (👎🏻). We are seeing women here in the States wearing 40mm watches.
It’s not big enough! It should be at least 48mm in diameter, 56mm lug-to-lug and 2cm thick, so that it *really* over-compensates for any shortcomings the wearer may have. Just £16k, phah, small change, Omega should just double its prices. Just think of the rarity value; only Oisin, and perhaps Arnie, will have wrists big enough to wear it and have enough £££ to buy it - so only two sold - ever! Meanwhile certain watch ‘experts’ on other YT channels will claim Omega is knocking it out the park/killing it/crushing it [insert clichéd hyperbole of your choice] and that literally *every* watch enthusiast has bought one. All this will probably come true with next week’s Speedy Tuesday release, if not, then the the one the week after that…or the week after that… It’s been a long day, I’m Ben Elton, thank you and goodnight! 😉😂
Meteorite and Moonphase on a Moonwatch - and 43mm (7.5inch wrist here) - winner winner chicken dinner! The black one please…although pity it’s not got the pretty manual movement of the Pro Moonwatch. Never previously been a fan of meteorite dials…but perhaps it’s just never made sense on an earth-only watch before? 🤔🤭 Price is probably a bit steep however, as attested to by the teeth sucking. Puts it right into the realms of lots of other watches and a fear you’ll be saying goodbye to £4-6k if you ever want to part ways with it (perhaps shouldnt be a consideration if playing for keeps - but you just need to be extra sure you want it bad enough!) Bracelet version chosen is ideal. I’d wear one. I’d pay a decent amount for one…but at £16k I think I’d be looking at others first.
If you like this watch. Just wait till they hit the secondary market. They will be 20-40% off retail within 18 months. Omega do not hold their value and this new release wont be any different. The older moon phase Speedy is $7K us all day long. These will be a bit more because of dial and expect them to settle around 10K. Id rather get a 2 tone Daytona for $17K.
Omega makes great watches, no doubt, but another Speedmaster moon watch? I can't even look up at the moon anymore. They need to streamline their diluted watch model offerings. Way too many IMHO. Cheers.

Great presentation. I love both versions, but no way I’m paying 17k. I hope to possibly get one used in a couple of years for less, but who knows if that will happen. Personally I like the blue one
Great looking watch, the proportions are fine for most men. Omega knocking it out of the park again.
I was expecting 13-14K USD. You can justify some price hikes, but this one is not even close.
When you can get a vinage "REAL MOON WATCH" from mid 1960s for less money than a new Speedmaster, you know there is a problem.
That Blue is sharp
Doesn't come close to the 1960s 321. The real thing, the versions that went to the moon - 105.012, 145.012... - these are the grails.
All this will probably come true with next week’s Speedy Tuesday release, if not, then the the one the week after that…or the week after that…
It’s been a long day, I’m Ben Elton, thank you and goodnight! 😉😂
For the asking price they might as well have added the kitchen sink on the dial as well 🤷🏻♂️
🔥
Beautiful watch. Price is getting out of control tho
In a few years when they get on the secondary market will definitely pick one up. Not new though. $$$!
Price is probably a bit steep however, as attested to by the teeth sucking. Puts it right into the realms of lots of other watches and a fear you’ll be saying goodbye to £4-6k if you ever want to part ways with it (perhaps shouldnt be a consideration if playing for keeps - but you just need to be extra sure you want it bad enough!)
Bracelet version chosen is ideal. I’d wear one. I’d pay a decent amount for one…but at £16k I think I’d be looking at others first.
Love the gray dial but the price is a real deal breaker
If you like this watch. Just wait till they hit the secondary market. They will be 20-40% off retail within 18 months. Omega do not hold their value and this new release wont be any different. The older moon phase Speedy is $7K us all day long. These will be a bit more because of dial and expect them to settle around 10K. Id rather get a 2 tone Daytona for $17K.
The JLC Master Control Chrono with moonphase, day and date complication, is thinner and has an automatic movement for the same price .. you go figure
@@JimWestrich fare play. I love the jlc
Lolz, pretty rare for JLC to be compared favorably on price grounds these days!
price is def a bit too high but they do look amazing
I like them
£16,100. People are moaning it's too expensive? The dial is class. Wait a year and buy one on the grey market If you don't want to pay retail.
Waiting for the Swatch version.
I’m going to buy a speedmaster this year and if this was £8 or £9k I’d consider it but £16k is too expensive
Omega makes great watches, no doubt, but another Speedmaster moon watch? I can't even look up at the moon anymore. They need to streamline their diluted watch model offerings. Way too many IMHO. Cheers.
