    I remember when I first showed this movie to my wife when she was my girlfriend. She still brings up how I traumatized her by showing her this film and resents me to this day. This was her first and last David Lynch movie.
    Thanks Sean for the video!

    @malfuncsean The field with the ear is the rugby ground at 209 Lake Drive, Wilmington. The trail entrance is directly opposite the entrance to Snipes Academy of Arts & Design, which can also be seen at the beginning of the film with the kids crossing the street.

    Barbary Coast is the best bar there.. well, was in 05. That was Brandon Lee's favorite when filming The Crow. I went to all the locations, the staircase outside of Fun Boy was the alley in between Port City Java, and the apparently now defunct Screen Gems tour. All they had at the time was One Tree Hill sets and a short film on their history but, never mentioned The Crow or Stage 4. Ofcourse multiple hurricanes repeatedly destroyed the Backlot and at the time most recently Martin Lawrence's Black Knight set. I believe the apartments also used the 4th floor for Albrecht's apartment. Love your work and collections,Kind Sir!🤘😊

    Blue Velvet is the kind of film that darkly washes over a person. I was almost surprised at the conflicting feelings when I first saw it in the 80's - like these are things I should not be seeing. Glossy, cheerful Americana is peeled back to reveal a festering and sickening rot beneath. Curiosity and innocence, represented by Jeffrey and Sandy, meet a wounded victim trapped by depravity, sadism, and evil. There is no telling how it will end. David Lynch was true to his vision and created a masterpiece for the ages. Thank you for showing the filming locations where I'm sure many dramas continue behind the closed doors in "Lumberton." I wonder how much the brief river scene location has changed. The Frank's Place building and lot looked older and more worn out in the movie than it does today.

    • @malfuncsean
      @malfuncsean 2 роки тому

      The river scene I wish I had grabbed. I realized I missed it when I got back to California. It’s easy to find. The camera is looking across the river towards the back of Barbary Coast aka Ben’s Place. You can see it from street view in Google Earth. It hasn’t changed much.

Because if not for this film we wouldn't have the other. It's weird that as time goes on this film gets a little less known. It shouldn't tho. It's the perfect example of a slow burn, modern noir. Had the mood and the characters not been so believable I don't think I would have finished watching it. Something that really stands out to me is how beautiful the neighborhoods were that they filmed in and how amazing you well the homes have been cared for.

    Been to most of these locations myself, was many years ago, could walk up the back staircase at Dorthy's then, the big gate wasn't there. I don't know 100% for sure, but I heard the shots of Jeffrey and Sandy sitting in the Slow Club were actually filmed in a club called The Mad Monk which has since burned down, again not sure but I played at that venue many times and it looks like it, can see the wooden beams, PA speakers behind Frank which means he would have had his back to the real stage in that club, but it had a big open area that would have been ideal for filming in. After the club burned down it reopened at another location and I saw Dennis Hopper there once at a BODY COUNT show (I think Dennis was living near there for a time), Ice T called him out, "My man Dennis Hopper in the house... He'll fuck anything that moves!". Wilmington is a fun town, thanks for making this.
