    Absolutely love Colorado and Denver! Moved outside of Boulder in 2019 from the east coast by DC and never looked back. The culture and acceptance here 1000% true. People here are so genuine and kind, complete opposite back east, especially in the corporate world. Everyone is more understanding here and there’s a true work life balance. And it is so easy to make friends! I’m 35 and it’s so easy to join a hobby group or just meet people at a brewery or even on trails. Some cons for me are the fires and random extreme weather, but you just get used to it. Just like living in CA or FL you get used to earthquakes or hurricanes. Also yes, food is okay, but you do have to dig for the spots. I’m Asian and Asian food is lacking but it’s getting better! But overall my happiness and mental health have been so much better since living here. Literally just going outside and seeing the mountains while on a walk has been so therapeutic

    I lived in Denver for 10 years. Have also lived in Houston, okalahoma city and now Wisconsin (for snow). Denver by far was the easiest place to make friends as an adult. The south has hospitality but there is something about the people in Denver. They are very accepting. You can find your people no matter who your people are. But also they are very open! In the north people are very guarded and it’s harder to get to know people. I moved away from Denver for a guy. But it will always be my home even though I didn’t grow up there. Lifelong friends as well. And the vibe is just different somehow. Active people are active because it’s the way of life there. Denver is special. I visit often. And a hole in the wall ghetto Mexican restaurant is my first stop getting off the plane. I miss the food too.

    Definitely yes to all the pros and cons you mentioned! I was born and raised here in Denver as was my dad and I grew up hearing him say how much he loves this city. I never fully understood until I left. We have access to excellent healthcare. The view of the mountains (and from the mountains) never gets old. We have superpowers at sea level from all the existence at altitude! I’m sure every native of a growing city will say this but yes, I have watched the cost of living triple before my eyes even since I graduated from high school 12 years ago. At the time, $600 for an apartment felt like an impossible feat, now you’d have to have 2-3 roommates to pay that little. I know a million factors go into it, but we don’t know when we’ll ever be able to buy at this rate. And lastly, I think all the people you’ve heard shit talk Denver were trying to get you to stay away 😂 every single person I’ve ever met who’s moved here from out of state has fallen head over heels for this city. People come here and often stay.
    PS RiNo stands for River North and we pronounce it like “rhino”!

      I personally don’t get the hype. I moved to Denver for a year and didn’t like it at all. Mediocre food, the mountains are a far drive, the homeless situation is wild and the people dress poorly. It’s just an ok city. I lived in Cherry Creek and loved the neighborhood but the city is just ok. Moved to Chicago and definitely like it a lot more than Denver.

    I've lived in Denver most of my life and every neighborhood is so different. Even the "rough" areas have tons of cool restaurants and shops. The traffic isn't that bad if you don't work downtown and you're able to avoid rush hours. Denver is super into its health food so that's the main stuff you'll find here. Skiing and snowboarding is not required to live here, especially when you live in denver. Definitely agree with people being accepting and easy going, there's a general agreed philosophy of "I'm good if you're good" so people just match vibes and try to be welcoming as much as possible.
    This was very rambly but I hope it helped. I love living in denver and I really think we're one of the best cities in America.

    From someone who lives in the Denver area, I absolutely love it! Traffic happens anywhere, just have to learn the patterns, especially for “the mouse trap” on the interstate. Tons of cute districts with food/shopping, and the being able to meet people thing is true. I can go anywhere and talk to anyone without feeling judged. Denver is for people who want to live more freely to be who they are! There are tons of areas that are more ethnic too, so whoever said it’s “mostly white” probably only stays in the mostly white parts. The cost of living is probably the only downside, but if you can find a piece of gold realty or live in a surrounding city, it’s worth it. I’m from the Springs and wanted to live up here since I was a kid. Been up here little over 10 years now and have loved every minute!

    Hi!! We live in Golden, CO and both my husband and I were born & raised here. Golden is a beautiful city that’s the perfect amount of “mountain” and “city”. You’re 25 mins to downtown Denver and extremely close to entering mountain area. Some areas of Colorado get hit harder with snow in the winter but it truly is amazing how fast the snow melts (even during storms) because of the sun. Think winter wonderland in the winter, adventure in the summer (while somehow still having sun almost daily). I love how beautiful the seasons are here and the people are incredibly friendly. Highly recommend Colorado in general, but maybe look outside of downtown if you’re hoping for the best Colorado experience. We also snowboard some during the winter but not a ton- still a blast to go up into the mountains in the winter, rent a cabin, and do other winter things. There’s tons of fall/winter/spring festivals that are a blast to go to up in the mountains. Yes, a lot of people ski/snowboard but you are honestly better off to miss that crazy traffic going to/from the ski towns on a weekend morning. I think you get the best mix of everything here. Hope this helps!!

    Thank you for talking about the cost of living in the “desirable” parts of a city. Like a city can be great and fun but it’s totally unattainable to live in a good neighborhood.

    I'd LOVE to see a video about your thoughts and experience on nomad-ing. I've been on a similar journey the last 18 months (except I have a cat with me and an EU passport so I'm going more slowly) but we seem to like similar cities (I'm in Edinburgh for 5 months at the moment, have lived in Seattle, SF Bay Area, New Orleans, Amsterdam, and nomad-ed in Barcelona and Budapest, heading to Paris in fall) and I'm considering Denver, Chicago, NYC, Dublin, etc. It's been great hearing your perspective on these places as someone with similar a taste and lifestyle!

    Don’t worry about not participating in skiing or snowboarding, those 300 days of sunshine mean you can bike and walk and hike all year round as well, and there are literally hundreds of miles of paved trail the interconnect the cities as well. My family has been coming to Colorado for four generations, and I myself have lived out here for the last eight years and it is life changing the amazing. I have met some of the most amazing kind, genuine fantastic people hear that I 100% consider family now. I deal with a lot of chronic pain, including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, as well as others and the sunshine and moderate weather has been amazing for my health. My favorite place I have ever lived. Also, you’re totally right that you can strategically avoid the traffic and if you plan things out and live close to where you work, there are typically lots of alternate ways such as the train or paths to get around pro tip is to take the train to the airport. It literally drops you right off at security transit on all the trains is free for July and August in case you didn’t know.

    • @fiarna5098
      @fiarna5098 Рік тому

      Another pro tip for the Denver Airport is to go to the bridge security because most people that are tourists don’t know about it and it’s upstairs and it means you have to walk and a lot of people don’t wanna mess with that in the altitude wild, dragging their carry-ons around

    Come to Denver!!! I moved here 3 years ago from the midwest and love it. Biggest con for me is the housing prices. So expensive. Biggest pros are the people - lots of people trying to meet other people - and the mountains. I'm not too into winter sports either but the camping and hiking still make it worth it! Also try safta for food, best restaurant in town :)

    I like the intro song - classic & familiar. & I lived in CO for a year a few years ago (2 hrs. West of Denver, VERY small town). Only thing I miss & would qualify as a "pro" was the lack of humidity. I'm used to the NY humidity, so it was really nice to have 80 degrees feel like 80, not 95! 😄 There was also a super yummy breakfast burrito in the town Kremling, but it's not worth the 2 hr. drive.
