It's the best part of Long Island, but it's slowly getting more and more developed each time I visit, which is tragic. I hope it never becomes like The Hamptons.
I can see a day that they will replace the C3 cars and engines with DMU battery powered cars on the Greenport line. The Montauk line can always need more equipment. West Bounds are packed on Sunday.
During which 3 hours were you there? All of the Montauk diesels use the Central Branch except 2733, 2735, 2747, and 2720 which take the Babylon Branch (technically called Montauk Branch).
I spent years 0-4 (1995-99) of my life next to the central branch in Farmingdale, would see and hear freight movement and the ol' Pullman cars. Sorry for the random story.
Manual Block stations. They indicate the call letter. K stands for mattitucK and SD stands for SoutholD. At those block limits you need K cards to pass through unless you have to pass each manual block prepared to stop. There are no signals on this section of the Main Line between Ronkonkoma-Greenport
The greenport line is so underrated, rail fanning out there is so peaceful and quiet
Well done, awesome catches!
hey that's great catches on the greenport line since they added that second train.
Love the North Fork of Long Island. It's like you're not even in NY.
I totally agree. It's so pretty and rural which gives it a sense of coziness.

Thank you!!
I went to Montauk, NY once and I'd love to visit there again and also Greenport.
Greenport is really nice I highly recommend going there, I like the North Fork of Long Island better than the south fork
Great video, but I thought the speed was like 45mph...Im new to this....
Never heard of the Greenport Branch until i watched a video from another user😅
Could somebody tell me what SI 1103-G means?
It informs the engineer that only one blow of the horn is needed for the crossing because it is so close. Instead of long...long...short..long,
How often do trains pass through the central branch? I was at Albany Ave with my dad for 3 full hours and never saw one.

PinkLaffs Tripods aren’t allowed on LIRR Platforms.
Unfortunately
two track signs I don't understand one is a capital K and the other is S D. Help me please.

What does that repeating bell sound do? Is it a traditional thing or does it serve a purpose?
DOC100 it’s an indication to everyone standing around the train that it’s about to move.
I live on the ronkonkoma branch and I live on the Southold station.
I like Southold. It's a good station
Do you live near southold?
If you do we can railfan there together
