Mark, thank you for having the "withitness" and confidence to realize that Madisyn is something special, and thank you for the respectful interview you had with her. I appreciate your realness and willingness to have tough conversations. This interview and more importantly, the logistics behind it, speak volumes of who you are as a person! I hope that you become a mentor for Madisyn for many years to come. As Madisyn's father, I couldn't be more proud of her and all of her accomplishments. Nothing is given to you. Nobody owes you anything. If you want it to happen, make it happen. As a young Hispanic woman, she is a great example of finding a way to live out your dream for all people to see. Here's what she didn't tell you; she was promoted from a work-study student in the office of the AD copying and filing paperwork (really well!) at the University of Nebraska (The Cornhuskers) to the Director of On-Campus Recruiting for the football team without even applying for the opportunity. She led male D1 athletes, their families and supported/collaborated with coaches in a male dominated profession and she was a leader in all of it. She also graduated in 3.5 years. She is who you see. I love you, Madi-Cakes! Keep being a leader in all you do! Tim Garcia/Dad Semper Fi!
As an undergrad one of the grad students ahead of me had all sorts of ratings, ended up with a Citabra (with floats no less), did instruction on the side and eventually for new Cirrus owners. Got her MS in Physics along the way. To book end my experience with her; I met a gal at a senior center years ago that used to ferry aircraft for the Army Air Force in WWII. She told me one time her boss told her she had to fly this B-26 - by herself - to some airfield. When asked why, he told her that if they saw him come out of the airplane too they would never believe that she flew it. What a pistol!
Awsome Mark! Love the unscripted format. Honest conversation about aviation will never get old. Flying should be about passion. I believe aviation would be safer across the board if everyone involved were more passionate about it. You definitely bring that aspect to the table. Always look forward to new episodes of Skywagon University and the new podcast. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Great interview. Short, sweet, to the point. Aviation is full of characters and all you have to do for a compelling podcast is prompt them to share a bit. Thanks.
Thanks, Mark & Madi! Madi, you are spot on about the weather. Here in the southwest it is easy to take nice flying days for granted. I once looked at the flight weather, which had an AIRMET locally, then went outside to see the calm sunniness. I learned a lot about flying that day.
Great Interview Mark! Red Eagle Aviation is a great outfit with very competent and helpful people. I went there twice last fall for gas during my 5-week camping trip in my "Super" 170. Madi brought back great memories of my visits to the Schafer Meadows and Meadow Creek strips.
I flew 73785, which I’m told Red Eagle got from you, this past week for a backcountry course. Saw Madi there at the FBO and heard nothing but great things about her. I will be back to fly more with them, great group.
Brilliant Podcast. What a driven young lady. My son has been having lessons at North Weald with a female pilot who is eqaully inspirational and a fine pilot and teacher.
What an amazing young lady! I also never thought it was possible for me to fly, by getting a medical, i have a disability, but my brother started flying and said it was really easy and I got my 3rd class at the time (since then Basic Med)...Still in my old 172 :)
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Yep, it keeps me going...Funny thing is, the day after I was minted a pilot, my CFI at the time took my out for an "intro to tailwheel" and ever since then I looked at my plane with disdain, looking for a taildragger. But you know, it fits my mission, it's easy and 'cheap' to fly, and keep. So she's still the one!
She is great for aviation. Bravo and congratulations. I like the interviews Mark. One piece of constructive criticism let your guest finish their thought before you start talking you seem to interrupt frequently.
Good interview Mark. It's interesting to hear about the struggle new determined pilots have while building hours. Madi showed restraint, but probably should have wacked you after about the fourth time you referred to her as a girl. Always interested in your productions.
Back in late 2022, while I was on vacation in Kalispell, I wanted me and my wife to both get a lesson from red eagle aviation. Unfortunately since it was only gonna be one lesson each, I felt it was just gonna end up being a waste of their time. I was mainly just wanting to get a lesson from a different area than my usual lesson areas.
Mark from some of your comments, I am detecting that you believe the aviation industry as a whole is chauvinist. I am a 15,000 hour commercial pilot and have worked in the hiring department of major airlines. I can assure you that the opposite is the case. Affirmative action government policies have completely turned the tables to the point that they will consider a minority with way fewer qualifications over the stereotypical white male pilot. It would be great if this truth is reflected in your pod podcast.
Great Job Madi! Keep flying, only been to Kalispell/Glacier NP once, next time I’ll fly myself ….Mark, your reaches at least into the mid 60’s, I hope to have my PPL/IR before I go on Medicare this fall
Very interesting interview. I'm an old, new pilot and the cfi I finished with was a young lady. Nothing but respect for her! Interesting opinion on the instrument rating. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to share with us.

Semper Fi!
Thank you. I could tell that she knows what she wants and is not afraid to go for it.
We can see why you are proud of Madi. She's going to do great things! - Don the Camera Guy
I love these podcasts, keep them coming Mark. So many different stories in aviation to watch
Glad you like them!
Awesome interview once again! Hearing people's passion for aviation never gets old.
We'll be doing more of these. There are so many great stories out there and we want to hear them.

Thanks, will be doing a lot more of both.
Great interview. Short, sweet, to the point. Aviation is full of characters and all you have to do for a compelling podcast is prompt them to share a bit. Thanks.
I’ll point at this when I see a young woman who isn’t sure about getting into aviation. Excellent! Thanks Mark and Madi.
That's a great plan! Thanks!
I got my PPL from Red Eagle in Kalispell MT.
Madi was working the desk/working on her PPL when I was training, her and the entire staff are awesome!
Medi will be a good inspiration and mentor to other women who want to follow in her footsteps.
nice opportunistic podcast moment!
Grab them while you can.
Awesome! And Maddie wish you the best in your future
Great interview with Madi. Madi is a very impressive young lady with a bright future. 👍
Thanks, Mark & Madi!

Fabulous discussion. Madi would be a wonderful career day speaker for any high school hopefully to inspire more future pilots.
We absolutely agree.

We only met Madi and her "crew" briefly, but our sense was that they are a great outfit.

Madi and the whole crew left a lasting, positive impression. Good group of people.
What a great story! I'd say good luck to Madi, but she doesn't need luck because she's a hard worker. Go Madi!
800 hours in two years. That is dedicated.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Absolutely!
Red Eagle is awesome!! I live 2 minutes away from them and do my training there. Great people
You've got a new 180 HP 172 now.
Love flying up in Kalispell. My buddy flies out of Red Eagle and they have a great 180hp C172 there.
Now they have two.
Another great interview! Thanks so much to both of you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant Podcast. What a driven young lady. My son has been having lessons at North Weald with a female pilot who is eqaully inspirational and a fine pilot and teacher.
I've landed there, over the hedge in a Warrior with about 43 hours.

So very enjoyable.
Glad you think so!
Fantastic video. Cheers!
Many thanks!
Rad interview.
That was fun to watch.
One chat, one take, go, no edit. cut. She was natural.
Great interview
Awesome mark I seen red eagle was headed to Placerville to pick up a plane and I just knew it was one from you!
It's home now in MT in -40 from here in CA at +40.

I tell guests to talk and if clarification is needed I'll butt in so I do. They welcomed it. No-one wants awkward silences.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 hey, I’m not saying it to be mean I got nothing but love for you Mark. Just a little constructive criticism.

Hey, I told her I'd probably be politically incorrect by accident.
Madi’s just great! Thanks for having the vision to feature her story.

Never feel sorry for anyone that owns an airplane.
Why.

Thank you! 😊
6:50, we need more pregnant teenagers given pilot jobs. They're flying for 2 now, so they need a good high paying job with no heavy lifting. 🥲😊🤰🤗

Well grounded lady....best qualified. Find a way....
There is always a way if you are prepared to take it.

10:30 Well, if you get accepted into the military, you could get your 'Rotorcraft' wings. . .
The medical examination to qualify as a military pilot is very strict. 🥸🤓🧐
