The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane (1976) is a favorite movie of mine. Love Jodie Foster and Alexis Smith. The environment of the film is perfect. Cold, rainy and dreary. Perfect.
This movie was my first "scary" movie as a young child and the first time I ever seen Jodie act. This movie is always somewhere in the back of my mind. Adore Jodie.
I loved this movie; I think it shows of the deep and still-unexplored talent that Jodie has to step in to these characters and stories and explore the dark and emotional aspects of them in their precarious experiences. This is one of my favorites of the mid 1970s that can pass as a psychological thriller as much as a dark mystery and with a little bit of horror/terror, even if emotionally based. Spectacular performances from the entire cast ... Sheen, Modine ... everybody.
This and especially Disney's "Candleshoe" are two big favorite films of mine from Jodie's early days. It's wonderful hearing her (briefly) discuss this particular picture. It truly is one of the best psychological thrillers produced in the 7Os. Unusual and a terrific spooky atmosphere throughout as well. It's Jodie's fun and unforgettable scenes with Alexis Smith that keep me coming back to this film time and time again, though. Just love it. Thanks so much for sharing this.
It's amazing that she's been a professional actress for so long. Like a lot of people in the comments section, I grew up watching her in things like Candleshoe, and always thought she was so cool. A true genius.
So you seem to collect all the "TCM comments on" features. Words can hardly express how much I thank you for uploading this JF episode. Mostly because it's one of only three sources for Jodie Foster being asked about this specific movie in an interview. And it's the most recent of them. Even if all new we learn is that it was freezing cold in 1975's Knowlton/Quebec and the fake teeth were a nightmare to speak with - it's still JF on TLG in her own words. Any Fosterist will agree it's a gem. Unfortunately, but to no surprize, she doesn't take the occassion of being a little more honest about the origin of her name. Also it's not true that there are no home movies with her. The person she is named after filmed several 8mm back when she was a little baby.
I remember reading that this is a movie Jodie had supposedly disowned, so it was interesting and a little surprising to hear her speak about it and not have anything disparaging to say, aside from remarking on the inclement weather during shooting. Personally, I've always liked this film.
I'm delighted to hear Jodie say she has no residual feelings about Mr. Sheen because LGWLDTL and Sweet Hostage where he starred with Linda Blair were a couple of my two favorite movies as a teen. They don't make these kinds of films now.
Jodie didnt need a wig or fake teeth to play this role.Sometimes trying to be too attentive to details in a book ends up as a distraction. Her hair bothers me when I watch the movie and so like I said it could have been done without the wig.
I was dumbfounded when I watched it for the first time, obviously due to when she got naked at such an early age. Seriously though, the entire movie was riveting. ❤

I'm glad she addressed the chipped tooth, I was so curious about that!
Jodie is such a great actress. Love her work
Jodie is amazing. She's so talented and has been all her life.
I love how Jodi is always so cerebral and fun.

You can't believe everything you read ..
I read the same thing..
If you love Jodie Foster, check out the little know movie she stars in called “Echoes of a Summer”.
Thanks! 😃
I remember going to the movie with the YMCA to see this. Just watched it Saturday night, I fully understand now what it was really about.
Wish she would talk about Stealing Home.

I've read that the movie wasn't a good experience for her; it would be interesting to know her reasons.
I wanna know what she thinks about “foxes”.
We do have Halloween in Britain.
I couldn't get through the movie bc creepy Martin sheen character
I get it, he was very creepy.
Jodie is beautiful...

Toy language, Vietnam, is it manga clamp when we get bad neck line
Awww Alicia. She pronounces it exactly in Spanish!
I like her better in her villainous/femme fatale roles. Loved "Inside Man".
