Sander, what an interesting day you had meeting these wonderful people documenting history like yourself. Thank you getting in touch with your friend and allowing Ian and Karen Barber to lay a wreath at the ceremony. It was very kind of you.😀
It was a great day indeed! Thank you for that! I am happy to give these people the attention they deserve!
The work they are doing is amazing! My grandpa was in France fighting in the U.S. Army during WW1. I never knew him he died in the 1940s. Have his medals and military records. Helps having a physical connection. Thanks for sharing

RESEPCT. i am 65. my grandfather (on mom's side) served as a front line grenadier in ww1 (canada). he survived, but never mentioned it.
Thank you sir! I can imagine why he would never mention it. It would've been hell on the western front.
JD (History Underground) sent me here. Subscribed before your intro was over, thank you for your work!
Thank you, i appreciate that!
Just seen this vlog and have asked to join your Facebook page. You do an amazing job I have my late husband’s grandfather buried in the Aeroplane Cemetery in Ypres we have always gone every year but haven’t been back since Covid. We hope to go back next year all being well if my health is okay only I am 87. Hope to see you on your memorial page on Facebook.❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! Hope you will be able to visit Ypres next year! Thank you for your kind words 🙏
Wow! What an incredible thing to do. Thanks for sharing.
Crazy right? Happy i got to know these 2
I worked with Ian a few years ago, amazing what him and his wife have done. I asked them to take some pictures of the memorial of a friends relative who died on active service. My friends family are from NZ and had never seen anything. Ian and Karen provided some great photos and I framed them and presented to my friend. He was overwhelmed and could not believe the length that Ian and Karen went to. My friends dad was over the moon and I far as I am aware the photos hang pride of place on the wall of their house. So a massive thank you comes from the Stirling Family in NZ, keep up the good work mate.
Great to hear that! Ian and Karen are very special. Thats why they deserved a video made about them. Thank you and great story!
That last post ceremony in Ypres is unreal, if you don’t tear up you don’t have a heart. Every European should visit these sites and understand how we got to where we are and put perspective on life.
100% everyone should visit it once in their lifetime
Wow! Amazing couple. So thankful Ian’s trip to the loft to help his mom uncovered those medals! And sparked an amazing gift to us all. Documentation is so important. All of you are keeping their stories alive for future generations. Humbled and grateful. Blessings to you all.
Yes i am also really thankfull to them! I am happy i got to know these 2 incredible people!
Mooie video!
So glad you put this on here 👍 Well done
I am very happy aswell! Thanks for coming back to my videos John!
Thank you for posting this video. How to honour best all these young people's sacrifice? By laying down their lives for liberty, they set the base for the deep peace we are enjoying today. Let's not forget that peace and unity resulted from such huge a sacrifice. It is our task to keep peace and friendship, so that the dead may rest in places where freedom rings and peace prevails.

The history underground sent me. How amazing 🖤
Thats great! Thanks for watching!
History Underground sent me. Next time I get to Europe, I have to go and see the grave of Peter Daniel, killed in 1917.
I am the custodian of his memorial plaque, certificate and facsimile letter from King George IV. Custodian, because when I am gone, hopefully another will keep the items and in turn keep Peter Daniel's name and his memory alive.
I wonder if anyone will even remember me even 50 let alone 125 years and counting after I have gone?
Thats awesome! You can private message Ian or Karen and maybe they have made a photo of his Grave allready. There will probably be someone who would take it over from you!
