  • I have finally managed to get my feet into a New Balance trail shoe, something I have been wanting to do for a long time. The Hierro is a shoe I have been looking at for a couple of years now, so when the v8 was launched I wanted to get hold of a pair as soon as I could to review for you all.
    So here is it, enjoy.
    You can pick up a pair of New Balance Hierro here:

    Thanks Rob, nice review. Glad you mentioned the sizing. I'm a normally a 10.5UK but I might try the wide version now.

      Thanks for watching mate. I would go to an 11 if I were you, the shoe is tight on length. Cheers Rob

    I'd love this shoe even more if that big 'N' on the side was black and less obvious.

    Hey Rob, you mention it's not meant for deeper mud. I was looking at picking up a pair of these for a Wolf Run I've got coming up (I generally road run most of the time, so figured I need something better for a Wolf Run) would you not recommend them for that purpose? Main reason I was looking at these is because they do them in 4E (I have wide feet) and I couldn't see any others with that width.

      Hi Iain, The Wolf run is probably too muddy for any shoes anyway, juding by the website. I'd say you could buy any trail shoes for that type of run and they'd all perform similar, except for perhaps the Inov8 Mudtalon. The Hierrov8 are definitely better on drier trails, they would struggle in deep mud. If you are looking for wide shoes then Hoka Speedgoat 5 do a 2e, Invo8 new range come in a wide option, and Topo Athletic are generally wide shoes. I have wide feet as well and I use Saucony Xodus Ultras, although they only have a 4.5mm lug. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Rob👍

    Hello, thank you for the review. You said that you usually wear size 10.5 and so do I. What is your foot length exactly that you're suggesting 11 size? Probably it is exactly my case. I tried Hierro v7 on the size 10.5, and they fit perfectly, but I found some info that this version v8 is tighter. Do you know something about that? Much appreciated!

      Hi, New Balance are well known for making their shoes a little small, so I'd always suggest sizing up by 1/2 a size. I think you have to just either try them on in a shop to check on sizing or order a pair and send them back if they do not fit. Everyones feet are different, so it's a bit trial and error I think. Thanks for watching. Rob

    Is it good for a walking shoe do You think?

    • @robsbeenrunning
      @robsbeenrunning  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi, Possibly too soft for a walking shoe, it would depend on what time of terrain you are walking on, for instance if you are walking in somewhere like the Lake District or Peak District in the UK, then you are going to need more structure to your shoe to give you stablility and protection, but if you are just wanting to use the show for light walks in the forest or taking the dog for a walk etc.. then the Hierro would be fine. The shoe would definitely be comfortable for sure.

    hello is this shoes good for winter?

    • @robsbeenrunning
      @robsbeenrunning  4 місяці тому

      Hi Roberto, It would be ok as long as you were not running in muddy conditions, the shoes lugs are not deep enough to cope with deep mud. Thanks for watching. 👍
