Gotta say this did not feel like Kola adapting over the course of the set so much as Leon losing confidence and giving Kola free wins. Leon really needs to fix his mental. He chokes a lot.
Frr, I’ve followed Leon for a while now, & it’s the same thing over & over lot of explosive good stuff out the gate but he deteriorates so fast & Kola, while being a great aggressive Roy honestly just got lucky this was the case because there was little adaptation through the set, just the same old plays that eventually connected, as M2K states.
Kola was down 2-0 and you saying Leon lost his mental after 1 loss? You really got no faith for the best bowser in the world 😂. Also you could see from game 4 and 5 all the past conditioning Kola did on Leon pay off
@@jeromelockhart72 I would believe if LeoN himself didn't always mention this on twitter and twitch. He admits himself it's an issue and is working to improve on it.
you were not watching the set lmfao. kola adapted by grabbing more against leon's defensive play. he started dash dancing in neutral more to bait options as well as mixing up his pressure timing. Leon lost but more importantly, Kola won.
I love how Kola uses N-air to Kill Bowser due to a funny quirk that move has about the second hit being weight-independent. Normally that's detrimental since most Top or high tier are not heavy (Pikachu, ZSS, Sonic, Lucina, Peach, Fox, Greninja, Young Link, Falco, Pichu, Game & Watch and maybe i'm missing someone), but against Bowser and his 135 weight...
@@tfthief4931 Its the 2nd hit of Nair for Roy, which makes it an actually decent option for killing offstage. Marth, Lucina, and Chrom have the same property but it's for Nair 1, which basically makes it more consistent when linking into the second hit.
It's not just Roy, it's for Lucina, Chrom, and Marth. Roy benefits most from it because he's the only one with weight-independent KB for Nair 2, instead of Nair 1 like the others. Nair 1 having W-I KB makes it more consistent for combos, while Nair 2 is more consistent for killing, especially for one of the best "killing" characters in the game.
People saying Leon lost confidence (which is true), but Leon was shielding an excessive amount and Kola adapted and started grabbing every single time.
We say he lost confidence because Leon is absolutely renowned for mixing up and reading defense options. C’mon, you think Leon would have gotten as far as he did if he didn’t know how to adapt to freaking tomahawk grab?
Sort of like DI, but you do it while you're getting combo'd. You can influence the direction you get juggled. You can get yourself out of some multi-hits this way or DI out of the way of combos further
m2k is surprisingly a very entertaining and energetic commentator but his habit of commentating what the player should have done instead is so frustrating
Leon being up 2-0 Everyone: Leon is going to win Me: Nope, this is Ultimate. Kola is gonna mash his way to victory. This game is getting too predictable
I play both of these characters. They are both high damage, mediocre recovery, simple characters. I think Roy wins the matchup a little. If their skill level was similar it was bound to be a war of attrition with Roy having the edge.
@@jeromelockhart72 yeah Kola is a masher and a great player alright, that being said I'll embarrass you in a FT10 any day considering you're probably some loudmouth Twitter warrior who can't even get into elite smash
Counters are risky hail mary plays generally, and with Bowser's command grab on the table they're now even riskier. Tho I do wonder why he's going for the Neutral B ledge guard so often instead of using the counter. I don't play Roy so it might be a good idea.
@@thegreenitalianmachine5411 Even then, Chrom/Roy's counter has the slowest startup in the game (frame 8), despite its impressive damage multiplier. It really holds true to being a "last resort" option.

Man, this is just depressing to watch. Leon quickly lost his confidence and gave Kola the win, and Kola’s Roy isn’t nearly as good as it used to be.
Kola’s “online” roy isnt as good as it used to be.
