As a Banjo main who’s believed in Banjo for years and has been following TG since his start, I LOVED this video. Amazing coverage of TG’s career and Banjo as a whole.
Whoa!! What a coincidence that i was just seing videos of this awesome player and you just droped this lmao, love the way TG is showing people how cool can banjo be, its quite exciting seeing that banjo kazooie is getting relevance not only because im a banjo main but also because i love the characters, and i also love how this shows that you just need to have good determination and dedication to have sucsess
i remember as a banjo main i made a list last year about my top 10 best banjo player, i didnt know TG even i put him on 9th place on my list , just because i didnt know any other players, but wow, you even made me get excited when you narrated the muteace-TG match! i was watching live and i was really excited!! even at that time i was giving up on banjo, the love for the character keeps me using them but know, thanks to TG and your videos (for make it them so hyped) i am now convinced tha BK CAN DO IT! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
Nobody wanted to ban Hero because he was broken. They either wanted to ban him because of over-reliance on RNG or because of the language barrier, the latter argument being particularly dominant and still being brought up to this day.
It doesn't help that Asimo has gone on record that the Language Barrier almost cost him the set against Beastmodepaul due to not being able to read the Menu.
When I saw them announce banjo I was screaming as a 28 year old man. It was the day before my birthday. They announced him on june 11th not the 12th like it was said in the video. Then I saw Grant Kirkhope have his little video saying "we're coming home" I got teary eyed. I love that character. Right after we got the banjo reveal but before we got the character breakdown, I was at a local maining ROB. I turned to my friend and said "I think I am going to be a banjo main." Banjo-Kazooie was my second favorite game on the n64 as a kid in the 90s. So even if the character was bad I was going to main him. Then he comes out and holy hell did I mesh well with this character. So well in fact that my friend group banned me from playing him. But banjo is ranked low so I get to point at that and just call my friends bad. I gave up on ultimate for melee years ago though, but seeing banjo is getting love is awesome. Anyways my one tip for newer banjo players is down-tilt turn around f-smash.
Banjo needs to be very patient and attack when the opponent makes a mistake or be campy if Banjo can't find an opening. He's kinda like Sonic in a sense. In Banjo Tooie, boss fights are about running away from the bosses until they expose themselves. It also take about 6 mins to beat the Hag 1 in Banjo Tooie as well. Also Banjo's nair can sometimes damage characters on shield. One trick I discovered is that Banjo can edge guard with nair, and if Shockspring jump isn't enough he can use Wonderwing to make it back on stage.

Opportunist character. He can force his opportunities sometimes though. His egg can lead to favorable situations though where opportunities are presented to him
With the initial divide there was between support for Banjo being in Smash primarily being in the West and support for Hero being primarily in Japan, it’s interesting how Banjo’s best player is from Japan and how Hero’s best player (BeastModePaul) is from the US.
Toriguri didn't stop entering online tournaments, they just aren't listed on ssbwiki because it's not reasonable to update hundreds of players' pages on a weekly basis and clutter their pages with results that most people don't care about. Usually the online tournaments are only added when the page is first created (save for the Champion series events which are more notable invitationals) to create a timeline as they started online then began competing offline, which is when they would be considered notable enough to deserve a page. He's entered a bunch of Tamisuma and Maesuma weeklies that are on UA-cam. And sorry if this came across as negative I enjoyed the breakdown just this narrative is incorrect. Overall liked the video keep it up 👍
That’s not quite true any legitimate results can be added. if there are too many weeklies then subpages can be used but usually its more so because people don’t really care about these smaller tournaments and treat more important tourneys as the priority
@@NaughtyPigMario I know that they can be added, but in the vast majority of cases they are just not because people don't care about them like I said. My comment was to say that the narrative that TG stopped entering online tournaments because they aren't on ssbwiki is inaccurate because 99% of players will not have comprehensive results listed.
I don’t think Nintendo ever owned Rare so they didn’t “sell them to Microsoft” like you said in the video. Instead they sold their shares in the company and didn’t compete on a bidding war with Microsoft over them.

they really did banjo dirty for no reason in smash on so many levels. i mean, have you looked at the hitbox of his up-b platform? its like 1/4 of the size of sonics spring while being much bigger visually. just why.
One thing I think you might want to consider is making sure the background matches are more in line with who you're talking about. For instance, at the beginning you just had the grand finals (plus another) play for the entire intro, which might've been better if you had switched it to his match against Senra. I think it helps to keep the bg stuff relevant to what you're talking about instead of being more "generic" in the sense that you're just showing finals or other hype matches. Cool vid otherwise, though!
I get that but for THIS video specifically, Toriguri pretty much had ZERO vods for the first half of the time I talked about him And, honest secret: Toriguri vs Senra handcam was less than a minute long
@@RisterMice Ah, understandable then. While I have your attention, another thing I noticed was that maybe you could've gone a little more into why Banjo was so bad. I felt like you mentioned it some and tip-toed around some reasons that made him a poor pick but never gave any thorough reason why. I don't expect you to have spent a large amount of time on it, mind you, but some kind of more concise review plus maybe a few positives that Toriguri implemented might've worked. And/or a direct reference to a more in-depth explanation like Vars' vid on Banjo. Basically ensuring it doesn't sound like "Banjo is a bad character!" "Why?" "Because he is!". You didn't make it sound like THAT, but I hope you get what I'm saying.
Banjo bottom 5? are you fucking with me? there are like 20 characters minimum below this bear. It really took a good japanese player to beat people´s asses with a mid-high tier to prove the character is fine, how sad
For a video that's about Toriguri and not Banjo's competitive history as a whole, I think it's weird that you talked about different things for 10 MINUTES.

Dude this video is such a well made summation of both Banjo's competitve history as well as TG's. Long live Banjo mains, subscribed
Glad he made this video, I admit I never really looked into banjo since he came out
Me main banjo

Toriguri is the reason we believe. Japan still has faith in the entire roster of Ultimates characters.
Just gotta use the strengths.
Unless you're Ganondorf...

If you make more like this, i wouldn't mind more little skits like the muteace one.
To think Toriguri carried Banjo all these years and now Tweek's gonna play Banjo too, huge stuff coming for the bear
Wait Tweek is, really?
This aged like fine wine lol.

Love that the Tale of Toriguri also plays as a Banjo&Kazooie Smash Lore video 🔥
excellent video, love the effort and passion you put into these. TG is definitely a one of a kind player
And you are making smash history videos too?!? God tier smashtuber
I can't believe this channel exists! I've always wanted a channel that covers tournaments and players in depth like this

Don't forget the part when you cross up the opponent and they wiff their punish 😂
My guess for toon Link will be Lv. 1 with honorable mentions to sigma, jojodahobo, skaws, and marvelous marco
Didnt even watch yet. Instant like. TG and Banjo are lowkey the hypest and coolest thing that has happened to Ultimate in years

Toriguri 3-0ing a Jigglypuff to finally get to Top 8 makes Hungrybox's tantrum poetic.
Unironically Banjo is one of puffs worst MU. Wonderwing makes edgeguarding really risky, and Banjo beats Puff in air to air and general neutral.
You forgot to mention Trela who beat Void and Fatality with banjo in tournament
Anybody after BoBC?
13:47 WHAT IS THIS LMAOOOO
13:47 Best part of the video essay ❤
Ngl after seeing tg vs bassmage I'm pretty sure every puff player think like this from now on 😂
Peanut picked up Steve and THIS is how I found out?!
The video we truly needed! Now we just have to hope Tweek doesn’t make it immediately out of date with all the hints he keeps dropping

Take a shot every time he says "Toriguri" and try not to die challenge. Difficulty: Impossible

Looks like this Toriguri got a little inspired by aMSa. Still im glad he mains banjo i rarely see a banjo.
Incredible video quality .. up top 👍
Awesome video
Love the 40 min
Keep the grind !
Let's go Banjoo
After seeing him play at Bobc and watching this video I feel so inspired to pick Banjo up again
This videos are so good, you could made one about hikarus run at UFA
Glad to see my trash character get their time in the sun. TG gives me some hope for Ultimate's metagame.
Love the video

Do you have the tg senra set link pls?? Also, amazing video, you're the goat 🐐🐻🐦

Banjo has been nowhere near bottom 5 lol he is mid tier at the least.
Bruh please give a volume warning when you’re gonna show people loudly screaming randomly . 😑
