It’s very different 😂😂 it doesn’t look like NZ tbh it’s just very clean and modern, I go to a private school and if I compare the two it’s a massive difference
I have never seen a New Zealand school like that before. At my school we have 5 60 Min periods. School starts at 8:45, then we have period 1 then period 2. Form time, then interval, after that period 3. We then have lunch, and period 4 and period 5. School ends at 3:10.
lol yeah there is many schools like that, my last one was like that, but this school, that some of my cousins have attended is a really good school and just having 3 periods seemed easiest? just because it's something everyone knows and doesn't have to work out
wait, so in New Zealand you go to one music class, morning tea, math class, lunch, one dance class, then it's over?! omg, get me those immigration papers
Peter Lyu I wish that was true. I don't know what High School she's gone to but I know most (including mine) is not set out like that. You get to school at 8:35 you do two periods then its form time, then morning tea, you do another two periods, lunch, and then one more period after that. So 5 lessons in total..
yeah it's different at every school. At my school we start at 8:45am, we have form time first then first period is 100min, then morning tea, then second period is also 100min, then lunch and then the last two periods are 1 hour and we finish at 3:20pm
High schools are ~8:45 - 3:15. Traditional schools will do 6 50 minute classes with 2 10-15 minute breaks at each end of the day and 1 45 minutes lunch break. A lot of suburban schools will make classes 3 100 classes each day and eliminate one of the breaks. School is ~235 days a year (US is, for comparison, ~186 days per year).
@@fallenangelbaekhyun2915 different (high) schools have different numbers of periods in which mine had 6. School started officially at 8:45 but the would ring at 8:40 as that indicates the students to get to form room for roll call. Which lasts until 8:55 in which after the bell rings for first period. Each period lasts roughly 45 minutes to 50 minutes on average depending on the scheduling on the specific day. After second period finishes around 10:35 its morning tea which lasts 20 mins wherein the third period comes along. And after fourth which then ends at 12:35 which is then time for lunch which goes for 1hour mins till 1:35pm. From 1:35 to 1:50 was D.E.A.R time (Drop Everything And Read) which never got used really and was instead used to make the class at that time longer. Where 5th period goes until 2:35 and the 6th and final period goes from there till 3:20 in which it is now home time and we can all fuck off back home. (Please Note: I finished school a couple years ago and may or may not have forgotten the specific times periods start and finish)
Most schools are two periods then a break w form time (depending on schools) 2 more periods w lunch (1 hr) then 1 or 2 more periods again depending on the school.
Mate what's with the hate.. NZ IS one of the best countries in the world. You should maybe travel around a bit to see what the world is made up of because you only have a handful of developed countries compared to developing and undeveloped.
I was waiting for u to mention the weather... NZ WEATHER IS SOOOO BIPOLAR.... I always take a jumper n umbrella to school even if its the middle of summer
This isn't really typical for most schools in New Zealand. Normally, you have 5 periods per day. School starts at 8:45 then you have 5 minutes to get to your form class. You wait 10 minutes before you go to your first class which lasts for an hour. You then have your second class. Then you have morning tea. After that, 2 more classes until lunch which is at 1:30 I think. Have one more class at 2:10 and finish school at 3:10. This is at least what I'm pretty sure the majority of schools do. Idk. Could just be mine :)
My normal school day in Germany 1. get up at 7:25 a.m. (school starts at 8 a.m.) 2. go to the bathroom, get me ready. 3. drink a glass of water 4. Take the bus at 7:38. 5. come to school 15 minutes late because I don't want to get up early
Wow my school is different it starts at 8:45 am, I am at intermediate but we only have one class that we stay in so we don’t have to move around to different classes, we do the roll, we do maths until 10:05 which is interval or morning tea until 10:25 and then we come back to class for sometimes writing, reading, something like that, until 11:35 which is lunch eating and yes I know it starts very early and only last fifteen minutes which is not long enough at all because I’m always starving by the end of the day, so at 11:50 we come back in for another subject then at 1:05 we go out for recreation which is just playtime basically (I know it sounds childish but it’s the only word I could think of) and we come back to class at 1:50 and we have another subject and finish at 3:00 pm. Ok bye
My current accounting teacher and principal used to work at Albany Senior High and I recently went there for a visit with my accounting teacher for the student council at my school. Lets just say that put my school to shame.
There is a big funding drive for education at the moment in NZ :E my high school is actually bigger than this, it was 14.37 acres (It is still a school, I just don't attend it, I don't know if this is big?.. I always thought school's in America would be bigger)
Knightgalia It's small-medium sized compared to other schools in the city. I go to a fairly sized school in the western part of the city and it's around the same size as Albany Senior High (the school featured in this video). Schools that get closer and closer to the city tend to be larger and larger.

Here in romania we still have an outdated russian educational system... We go to school in old buildings and we study 6 subjects a day, regardless of whether we like it or not. Oh and by the way, there is no such thing as diversity when studying. Each teacher comes in our classroom for one hour and then leaves...no practical studying, only theoretical... Hi Alice, Im moving to new zealand next year and going to study in WGHS maybe you can give me some advice and i have some questions as well maybe you can tell me your email?
Westlake Girls High - I know where that is - I used to live on the North shore and my bus route used to go past that school every day. Albany Senior High? Well, I know where Albany is, but I have never heard of any school in NZ being called a Senior High? High schools in NZ are not usually divided up into Junior and Senior high school like those in the USA are. NZ does have intermediate and high schools (aka Middle schools and high schools), but even now most of the intermediate schools are being integrated into the high schools to make them 7 year schools and not 5 year high schools like they used to be. Oh and a high school with no uniform? That is UNHEARD of. More like someone trying to be like the USA and encourage the competition between the haves and the have nots. Which is why MOST Kiwi schools do have uniforms. Just checked Google maps and sure enough there is a junior high school and a senior high school iN albany. Now when you were in the car on your way to school the sun was rising in the east so you were travelling south. Where exactly did your host family live since they clearly did not live in Auckland? I wonder if you were in Orewa or on the Whangaparoa Peninsula?
Hey, im gonna be studying at the same school starting in July (it’s the Albany Senior high, isn’t it). Do you have any tips on how to make a way around there?
My school is like 9.30-11we have 1st and 2nd period then interval then 11.10-1pm we have 3,4,5 period then lunch then 2-3 we have 6,7 period then interval finally 3.15-4 last period

It depends on the high school you choose for them. For my school, it's $220 per student or $200 if a student has siblings who attend the same school. I'm not sure if this applies to all high schools, but for my school, it's not compulsory to pay the fees.

Kalopanoramic not really, but the natives of our country- maori, are brown skinned people, we also have many different other polynesians who can also be darker in skin tone 🙂🙂
I was thinking about getting my masters there, however, I know that there is a lot of racism in Hawaii, so I was just wondering if that might translate over to new zealand in any way
Kalopanoramic I'm currently studying in a school at the South Island. I've seen three 'black' students (I'm not sure if they're 'black' or Maori, I have difficulties figuring out). Absolutely no racism. Bullying, however, exists. New Zealand is a great country. People are great, too. But toxic people exist, and even if they're low in number, they will stand out. This is not to scare you, but I want you to be informed and cautious.
Thanks for this honest comment!!! I understand that all too well lol. Here in the Virgin Islands/Caribbean many great people exist, however the toxic people do too! Sometimes its difficult to determine whether the toxicity outweighs the positivity.
Promokepper actually this is not normally how schools are laid out in nz this school looks like an airport I live in nz and I have never seen a school like this
