- Thanks to citypoison for this !!! A 1999 Channel 4 series in which John Peel visits British towns that spawned musical trends. John Peel visits the pensioner dominated Isle of Wight and talks to The Jones' vocalist Chizz. He meets Rosie of girl punk band Wargasm. Noise laws keep sound low by limiting some bands to 'duos'. Mark and Josh run 'Shady Acorns' which manufactures and disribute vinyl 12" records across the world and sells between 3 and 1000. Prolific Paul Butler started a recording studio and has been involved in 5 albums on the Holistic label. Max Brennan is another prolific self recorder. Lucy, lead singer of 'Void' is content but may need to move to London.
how lovely is this show man, imagine something like this being on now. Peels such a sweetheart with these kids. Its a damning indictment of current culture that a show like this would be unimaginabe on tele.
Ah some sweet memories. Met John during the filming of this, a life highlight.
Still friends with some of the people featured in this. Feel like I should continue this trail of thought and make a follow up.
visionincision Were you in the programme? How did you meet him in the filming?
Sadly no one wanted to be in a band with me until I moved off the Island hahah. I met John in Cowes during the filming, I chatted at the bar with him and he was a top chap. One of my best buddies is playing tambourine in the sections on the Jones'. Great memories.
Actually this series inspired me to start making little documentaries, this is one I made about music photographer Steve Gullick...

both bland examples of the worst aspects of corporate friendly rock
