I am a old school punk metalhead and this is got to be one of the best songs I have heard in a long time. I am almost 50 and got my two sons to thank for turning me on to this.
blessed to have seen power trip twice with Riley in 2012 and 2015. i went to their first show back since his passing yesterday. the rest of the boys can still kill it on stage and their new singer does Riley justice. they still bring the same energy live. long live power trip
LYRICS: Embrace the chaos Made from scraps and dirt Feeling temptation for devastation Try but you can’t resist You know who we are You think we’re scared to bleed? What a fucking magnificent show of power. They took the thrash formula and rolled it into something that feels wholly original. I always assumed everything in thrash had been done but the subtle twirks in this song make it a stand alone thrash classic! I cannot get enough of this band.
Swarmed by the fury An excruciating burning A black mass of impending doom Their multitudes overwhelming you Scorned for eternity The arrogance of your perjury Death sings through buzzing wings Drowning out your desperate screams Hard
you don't hear too many songs that bring you back to the original roots of thrash like this one. RIP Riley. Just another horrible moment in what has been a horrible year.
Oz M. Same here. I was at work Playing XM radio through my mini speakers and had to run back to my phone to see who the hell this was because I lost my mind
Same here! This song was playing on my drive to work, and all day I wanted to hear it. At lunch I checked Apple Music, no luck. Driving home, the song came back on XM. This song rips!
It would happen this way, to the world's misfortune and every hardcore fans heartbreak! The balance of life just thought these guys were too heavy and had to even things out for everyone else. RIP Riley and Powertrip...you made the stain on everyone's brain that continues to drive us insane! We love you guys!
New fan here. This song definitely rips! Sounds like it was recorded in the 80s. Definite Metallica and Sepultura influences here. Very unfortunate to hear of the lead 😕
@@QuestionKnife Yeah maybe, but with bands like Superjoint Nails Scour Corrosion of Conformity Melvins Mastodon....it never really stopped, but yeah I guess people are getting sick of all the pop tarts🤘And please...Rock on brother
@Jack Auff It's a new wave coming alive right now with Code Orange, Turnstile, these guys (obviously), Harms Way, Condition Critical, Angel Du$t, Trapped Under Ice, Night Birds, Incendiary, Fury, Illusion, Mindforce, Regulate, Dead Heat, Hangman, Combust, etc.... pretty much what all the huge non-veteran bands like Lamb Of God, Slipknot, Behemoth, Hatebreed, Korn, System Of A Down, MachineHead, Cannibal Corpse went through in 2000 and late 90's ..... ALL IN ALL: bands like Power Trip are the future for us and im beyond excited to see where their music takes us next :D
They premiered this live last night in Tulsa to prepare for the Danzig tour. Devastating. So glad I was at the front of the stage for this. I hurt so bad. So worth it.

OF COURSE!!!!!! A GREAT MODERN HEAVY METAL BAND, bringin' the "old-school" back in a new way, that I happen to LOVE, and now their lead singer Riley Gale has passed on. Rest In Power brother!
Riley really solidfiies their sound here. For me there are a few musically great thrash style bands out there but the vocals just don't appeal, riley brings it with a sincere, balls out, ferocious approach and his patterns really flow well. If the next album is anything like this track it'll destroy.
Most thrashiest song (beat-wise) that they have made, yet... but I’m very glad they have stuck to their hardcore roots at 2:30... keeps them from getting generic and turning into a band with too much “thrashiness” in them for their own good. They know how to keep everyone in the scene happy. Whether it’s their John Tardy-inspired vocals, to their Schizophrenia/Arise-Sepultura riffs, or Pantera-aggressiveness... even their Snapcase-fun... anyone can like this fucking band...
DubpornMS well, other than what the other guy said (that I agree with), it is also the speed and ability to make a crowd get wild and violent in a second without trying too hard. Very aggressive band live. It’s also amazing how Riley and Blake, plus Chris (Ulsh) have put together the sounds of the bands I mentioned, along with others and has made these guys sound pretty unique... they are geniuses for handling the mixed sound to cause to be able to open for a WIDE variety of bands from Volbeat to Cannibal Corpse to Trivium to Exodus to Superjoint Ritual to Terror to The Black Dahlia Murder to Madball to Municipal Waste to Hatebreed... this is the band that makes me more, and more excited, each time time I see them live than the time before-hand. I can’t wait to see just how big they can get when people stop discovering them as the “where has this been all my life” band but as the measuring stick, in a decade or so from now, of future aggressive bands with speed and original sound. Sorry if I sound like I’m overrating them but I just tell people: see them live. Know their material. All of it. Not in a tiny venue though. You will be metaphorically layed out.
Couldn't agree more. I'm completely addicted to these guys since they came to Brooklyn last year. Just play their stuff everyday and you'll be fine through life.
Oh well, they get exposure, if you like them.....then go buy the album, it's like in the old days, buddy lends you the tape or record, if you like it, you go out and by it. Spotify is basically that buddy lending you the tape. Heard of tape trading back in the day?
I'm 47, of course I've heard of tape trading. Except I didn't like taping off music. I'd always buy albums/cassettes to support the bands. But back then it was really fucking hard to find anything that wasn't on a major label at a record store. I had to order all of my stuff through magazines.
No way Power Trip is miles from havok, lol “no karate in the pit” shirts wouldn’t look right at a power trip show, municipal waste or toxic would fit. Crossover thrash bands or even some hardcore like backtrack or incendiary
If Slayer can open for Iron Maiden, I am pretty sure those two can share a show. And the "no karate i the pit" is kind of a non-written rule in metal overall, so I can't see how that'd be bad.
I was lucky enough to get a chance to speak with Riley for a brief moment after one of their shows in Phoenix a few years back. The guy was so humble and cool. I was so shocked to hear about his death. Music and humanity loss a great one.
Hopefully a new album is coming. Also, so glad I heard 'Executioner's Tax' on an NXT Takeover - or I wouldn't have discovered this awesome band. Also, if it wasn't for Spotify, I wouldn't have found 'Death Angel', or 'Suicidal Angels'... turns out I like thrash a lot more than I thought.
What a God Damned shame. I have seen drugs take down five friends now. They were good people. Seems fun when you start out getting high but it always turns to shit. I was lucky enough to get out.
Sounds like harder and more modern "whiplash" I fucking love these guys ,riley's voice is so unique and unbelievably good it's scary what they got next ...
RIP Riley. While Riley will be terribly missed, Power Trip can do one more album and a memorial tour if Riley's idol John Tardy will step up to to the plate.
Can't wait to see these guys at Full Terror Assault this year. They definitely will make Friday night awesome at the festival. They also can come by campsite and drink some beer with us!

The best thing to come out of TEXAS since PANTERA AND THE VON ERICHS!!!!!
Just the Von Erichs, Glamtera was good til they went wiggercore
@@popeyedoyle6360 hahahaha which album would you put down as wiggercore? Wiggercore should be shit like Emmure or Atilla. Not Pantera.. haha
I went to the same highschool as the Von Erichs.. their last name was really Adkinson. I've actually delivered pizza to Fritz (the dad) before
I’m gonna make three more accounts so I can like this comment three more times.

You know who we are
You think we’re scared to bleed?

So come and take a swing
You clash with one
You clash with us all
Blood and venom will mix
Don’t mess with the hornet’s nest
Swarmed by the fury

"It's like Slayer bent over Motorhead while crowbar watched"
😂😂😂😂 Great analogy!!
Great analogy!!
@Aaron madazz Morgan right?! Plus Kerry would never do that to him. Its like they took a crowbar to your face and you enjoyed it metal revival feeling
Slayer will never bend Motorhead over. They might get down on their knees for them though.
With a bit of Onslaught and Venom thrown in. :)
Long live Thrash!
This has no business being this good in 2018,feel like it's 1984 again.

Specifically I hear early Metallica, sodom, and slayer
This is a catchy little ditty, a real toe-tapper.

Pretty cool when you're watching American Dad, and this comes on as a commercial for adult swim...
Bad ass thrash, reminds me of the 90's..
Reminds me of mid to late 80s thrash, but with better production quality than a lot of the stuff from the 80s had
This is how I found the band
alot more 80's than 90's

Phobophobia that Riff is thrash influenced my dude
It's like hearing metal miltia and disposable Heroes all in one. They fucking redefined the riff.
This is why I tell people Power Trip was/is the future of Metal. I hope they get a new singer and continue in the future...
Right?? I thought the E string riff has been done to death, but Power Trip uses it in such a way that it feels fresh.
Rest in Power, Riley.
So glad I got to see them perform.
still by far the best new metal band to the scene in how long....

slipknot's self titled album for me was their magnus opus , their best work, i don't think they will ever beat it.

Sounds like a mix of Metallica,Slayer,Sepultura and vocals from Prong

My Lord where is my skateboard this rules
SHOVE IT UP YA ASS BITCH
Fuck yeah bro
Just discovered them recently and then found out the lead died mere days before I took notice. Sad to lose such a talented singer so young.
fun fact: if you play this song loud enough, at 2:30 a portal directly to the mosh opens up in your room. 10/10
