I had read Stephen K. Hayes' books back in the 80s. Then in the late 90s I saw a documentary on the ninja and about Stephen K. Hayes' Quest Centers. Mark Russo was An-shu's attacker in the demos. And I dragged my wife to an introductory course at The Tampa Quest Center. Helen Russo was our instructor for our very first introductory class. My wife and I went on to earn our black belts in Toshindo and Helen Russo was always a supporter, guide, teacher, and an inspiration.
The nervousness of testing in front of a council of black belts for my 2nd degree and on feels intense to me as well. Getting my black belt alone was nervous for me, and I feel that is the toughest part of testing for me. Getting over my self and my damaging thoughts takes constant affirmation statements for me. I hope to achieve a high rank as well. Great video 🙏🏾🥋👊🏾
Love her philosophy about failing, “It doesn’t matter, keep going.” That can apply to so many things beyond training or tests. Think I want that on a mug. :)
