Wow, I’ve seen them all lined up before. Always amazes me how they are just left to rot….!!! I’m adding a disused line to my layout shortly so your video is a good reference 👍
Upon watching this video and learning about the Wabtec AC44C6M that is basically repurposed Dash 8's, Dash 9's and AC4400CW's all rebuilt to Tier 4 spec emissions and the power units overhauled and new electronics added. Should DB Cargo sell all these long stored Class 60's to Wabtec Loughborough and have these completely stripped down, cleaned, primed and rebuilt with new power units, new electronics, new traction motors preferably AC and new power units like the reconditioned GE 7FDL16 and similar tech that is used for the AC44C6M? This could become an AC39CM for the UK that could be a Class 60 shell but with GE/Wabtec parts and the power units could be from GE, Caterpillar, EMD etc. Maybe even Rolls Royce could supply the marine engines if not even MTU. Anyway, it would work out cheaper and if DB sold their super 60's to Wabtec and then re-leased them back off Wabtec. Wabtec would be responsible for all the maintenance and mods and that would keep the DB Cargo bean counters happy and they won't lose so many contracts to the likes of Colas and Freightliner. Also having seen them being shunted and moved about proves that they are still mobile and didn't disintegrate when shoved by a Class 66 around the yard. Just a thought.
Nice read on the comment. The body of a class 60 is at Longport now so maybe there is or was plans to re engine at some point ? The recent announcements from Db are concerning thou !!

Great hope it helps you with your layout 👍
Good video, shame to see them in such a state 😕
It is a shame yes
Hopefully some of them will be saved or at least keep the fleet going at some stage
Awesome but Sad, even for a steam guy
