  • Author and pastor Steven Furtick is here to say "just do you" is an OK thing to say to someone when they're trying out a new hairstyle or outfit but NOT when it's about how they're choosing to live their life. It's not about living "your truth" but THE truth - something Steven remembers from a sermon Sadie preached. Steven challenges us to shift our mindset and be ready to become who God made us to be: "Do the new you!" Steven's book, "Do the New You," is available now.

We need to pray for Steven Furtick and Sadie. They have a platform. The enemy will attack them. I have issues with Steven Furtick’s judgment- some of the things he’s said when preaching and his showy wardrobe. God has convicted me of being a good steward of the resources He has blessed me with. How much more should a pastor with a platform use discernment in this area…
As long as there are hungry people anywhere I could not purchase a $2000 sweater and brag about it during a sermon. How??? But I will pray for everyone who has a platform that God will use them and continue to work on them just as He is working on me.

We don’t hate him, nobody said that. What we don’t like is what he said about the Trinity, how he acts when preaching, many many things. He doesn’t fully preach the gospel but “ feel good” sermons which is not biblical.

Not hate. No, I pray he repents of his blasphemous teachings and begins to preach the actual written Word of God IN context. Right now, he is not and as believers we need to warn people of this because he’s leading others to blasphemy as well. Not hate. Disagreement does not equal hatred.

Sadie, I love you, truly! But it concerns me that you’re allowing someone who teaches modalism. He believes that the Trinity is God in 3 FORMS. But the trinity is God in 3 PERSONS. This is a very big deal. If you mess with the Godhead, that’s blasphemy. He also teaches the little g gods doctrine and he’s even said the words “I AM God”…no I didn’t take that out of context either. This is coming from a former Elevation supporter. But I’ve been chronically ill lately and searching for actual HOPE and it led me on a path of understanding the Bible from GOD’s perspective, not my own life’s perspective. My eyes were opened and I was shocked to see how many popular pastors are headed down this path of making the Bible all about us. Furtick needs to be marked and avoided as false. Tread lightly, girl. I know where your heart is.

Why does it feel like the guests have been growing consistently less and less solid in the Bible and theology? Many guests have barely even mentioned their faith and even credited their journey/success to anything but God. There are plenty of people I’d love to hear on this platform that won’t tickle ears but do honor with their words and actions. I love Sadie’s efforts and I have for a long time but it does lead me to question the depth at which her faith is at.

I really tried to go into this with an open heart and mind, but I just could not get through the whole thing. This is little god gospel, which is Stephen's whole ministry and its woven throughout this entire conversation. It's all about "you" what "you" can do. What God wants to do with "you". Even his prayer, "let ME create something with you God". Jesus is always the after thought. The focus is always on "me" and then maybe a little Jesus and I just can't get past it. This is self help with a little Jesus mixed in. It is health and wealth gospel. It's shouldn't be "Christ is in me. I am enough". It's just Christ is enough. Period.

I used to think that but he does teach the truth. You probably just took some clip out of context or listen to other preacher’s opinions of him who’ve taken his words out of context. John MacArthur teaches Calvinism so that makes him a false teacher. He’s the one always taking other teachers out of context because of some clip he heard. I was a Calvinist so I know John MacArther’s teachings through and through as I used to listen to him. Why don’t you listen to Steven thoroughly before you judge him.

Prosperity gospel. $2k sweaters. Multi million dollar home. His ego. His cult like following. The rock star celebrity pastor schtick. Pastors like him, Michael Todd, Judah Smith are troubling. A lot of image, watering down of sin and the Gospel (self-denial, humility, generosity, holiness), designer clothes, charisma, and attention seeking. Entertainment at best; deception at worst. And all about the money. The dude used to have Sunday school materials that featured him on all the pages. Some locals that left his church call it Cultivation. He's bros with TD Jakes. NDAs with staff.

The podcast...."accepting Steven has taken a lifetime " 31:00 I'm hearing a lot of man centered gospel, I , me, repeat. Lots of slogans and clichés (he is a lyracist). "Christ is in me, I am enough". The gospel according to insta? The gospel according to Brene Brown? 32:00 Does she get Snapchat? Only if you want her to see p0rn that disappears in 24 hours without a trace. Enoughness is not a biblical concept. Insecurity, self-esteem, self-help, confidence, my gift, my ministry, my calling. Me, me, me. Steven Furtick is your personal mentor in his book. 46:00 A series of sort of scriptural affirmations. He's almost doing preemptive damage control at 47:00 I believe we are way to concerned with our callings. Personal callings. Our calling is to love and know God. Love our spouses and children. No where is platform, fame, or title emphasized as our calling in scripture. 50:00 He was approximately carrying $432 in his wallet. Who carries $400 in their wallet? Maybe him and Elon Musk? I'm stunned he would even admit this. It all comes down to me as the star of the show, and God is my cheerleader. His illustration is God giving you $$$. Also, a LOT of schmooze and flattery.

I once heard a preacher named Winkey Pratney speak in New Zealand. After the service, I overheard him talking at a pizza parlor. He was saying how all of church and ministry and preaching barely focus on God at all. His response was to work on a book titled The Nature and Character of God. On a museum in Christchurch, the verse Job 26:14 is engraved in stone at the entrance. It reads:
"Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? "

@@RCGWho appreciate the response but I don’t think encouraging people who feel down and out or insecure, etc and reminding them who is in control of their life and working through them is a bad thing. I also don’t believe that having money is a bad thing either. He writes books, songs, preaches at his church and other churches. Of course he is going to have a good amount of money. Some things he says can be taken out of context for sure and some things he says such as saying “I am God” (if you watch before and after you cans clearly tell what he actually means which is God is in me). can be worded much better than how he does in that present moment. I also don’t believe focusing on yourself in faith is a bad thing either. After all it is a relationship and a relationship is both ways. And I would argue enoughness is a biblical concept. Hod repeatly throughout scripture talks about and demonstrates how he is enough. I do appreciate your response I will just agree to disagree for now.

He is a good teacher and he is very anointed but people want to be hypocritical Pharisees on here. A lot of you have this ‘idea’ of him because you’re easily influenced by social media and the gossip that is being made up about him-instead of actually listening to his sermons and forming YOUR OWN OPINION. If you don’t like his style of teaching, keep it pushing- but to bash him on the internet? You will only see what you are looking for if you’re looking for ‘bad teaching’. Be better people.

💯 I was going to put something similar that I do like Pastor Furtick love the music that comes out of his church. I think it has helped the world tremendously. However, we are taught to go by what the Bible says by your own understanding not to lean on others understanding so I think that’s where the false part comes into and then secondly shouldn’t we as Christians all be overjoyed when anyone accepts Jesus and if it’s this pastor, any pastor or anyone that leads someone to accept Jesus, isn’t that the ultimate goal why he hasn’t returned yet.

@@jaynesjannel256 can you explain to us how she is wrong? As for me, I agree that he is teaching false doctrine. He’s a fantastic communicator, but he is very clumsy with the Word of God. He puts more emphasis on experience than on knowing, understanding and accurately applying Scripture. We cannot go by emotions and feelings. We MUST go by the Word of God, the Written Word of God. It is our standard. Furtick’s teaching on the Trinity, alone, is false. He teaches modalism, God in 3 forms. But the trinity is God in 3 distinct persons. This is clearly evident throughout Scripture where you see all 3 persons of the Godhead at work at the same time. This couldn’t be if modalism were true. This is just one aspect of his teaching that is to be taken note of. Again, he’s a great communicator, but he just needs to start communicating actual Biblical truth.

This argument against women speaking about the Truth and sharing the Gospel always makes me laugh.... Sadie obviously has a God-given calling on her life to speak truth into many people's lives, especially young women. Many lives have been changed because she is not afraid to speak the truth and to share her testimony, leading many people to give their lives to Christ. As Christians isn't this what we should be praising the Lord for?!! Besides... God has called each one of us to spread the Gospel, no matter our gender!! Let's remember to read the Bible in context too... many cultural factors that were in place regarding women and their place in society have obviously shifted over the last several centuries. Instead of Christians criticizing women for speaking from the Word and spreading the Gospel, shouldn't we be encouraged that gifted women such as Sadie are dedicating their lives to doing this?

@@RCGWho Riiiight... like a woman can't be a mom AND fulfill the other callings God has placed on her life. Sadie is a wonderful mom, while also using her other God-given gifts to speak truth into people's lives and to spread the Gospel-- she's not sacrificing one for the other, but has found a way to balance both. God has given women so much potential beyond just raising children and "serving" their husbands. And, which out-of-context bible verse are you using to support your statement anyway-- the one over-quoted verse in 1 Timothy where Paul is speaking within the cultural context of that day? I believe Jesus' commandment in Mark 16:15-16, to spread the Gospel, is a "first calling" for everyone to follow regardless of the cultural context and no matter their gender, or in Acts 2:17 where the Holy Spirit enables both men and women to prophesy. Keep in mind too that not all women are able or "called" to be married or have children, but God has a purpose for our lives and values us nonetheless!

We are called to have discernment, to speak on what is wrong and trust God will handle it. I have learned we can not just stand there and not speak up.
