    As a Mk 7.5 Golf R Estate owner, that's a particularly interesting video!
    I can totally understand the appeal of that Leon Cupra - more standard equipment, for one thing.
    The road noise: my R Estate has 19" Spielbergs with Continental tyres - I find them to be pretty quiet (perfectly acceptable on a long & boring motorway/dual carriageway drive). They are noticeably better than my old Mk7 GTD hatch on 19" Santiagos with Pirelli Pzero tyres (noticeable tyre noise).
    I'd agree that a standard spec R Estate isn't worth £5k more than that Cupra, definitely. However, used Golf Rs seem to be grossly overpriced - some of those prices are pretty close to what I paid for mine new (last year - 20 plate)....and mine has near £4k worth of options too🤣.
    I noticed that the Leon has no upgraded sound system either (I'm not 100% sure what, if any, was available) - something like the Dynaudio system is a minimum for me, but I guess you could go "aftermarket" with the Cupra.
    The seats might look sporty, but I'm not sure they're better - the lumbar support is good (the performance 7/7.5 Golfs had that as standard, I'm sure) - the R seats look plainer, but they are comfy - my middle aged back survived a recent near 700 mile run without any backache! Easier to hook the rear seat "hammock" type cover for my dog onto the Golf seats as well.
    The load bay is a great point - we recently did exactly what you said, an IKEA trip! I seriously doubt what we bought would have fitted into the Cupra with the "swoopy" tailgate.
    Great content, as always though 👍

    Got this exact car . Came from a Gti Mk7 pp . Needed an estate as now have two retired greyhounds and they fit in the back of the Cupra comfortably . Had the car for nearly two years . You are right, it does about 34mpg but on a motorway you can touch a genuine 40mpg. Cheap to service and very reliable. Running it on Hankook winter tyres, at moment ,as live on North Yorkshire moors . Over the last week we have had storm Arwen with snow and ice. Car/ tyres were a match to the conditions and never got stuck even on steep hills. Best to run it in Sport. I have used Cupra once or twice and didn’t like it at all.

    Great comparison video Andrew. Many thanks. I'm curious as to the brake cooling on the Cupra, due to the addition of the front fog lights, something that is missing on the Golf R. Is there better air ducting on the Cupra to cool the discs? The Cupra slightly better looking, but thats offset by the loss of boot space. Surprised with the 'LUX' pack that it does not have a pan-roof. I think for now I will stick with my Golf R estate. But saying that, the Cupra Estate R does have a degree of wallet tugging appeal. Be safe matey.

    • @pokest225
      @pokest225 2 роки тому

      The cooling for the brakes is the same. The fog lights are small. The grills are big. But, in these cars, golf and leon, you have radiators in these side grills. Water aux cooler in one side, and water to oil dsg cooler in the other side.

    Tiredness recognition-
    It monitors driver behaviour closely - noting any erratic steering wheel movements and lane deviations, for example - so it can judge the moment that you are starting to feel sleepy and need to stop. It also continually evaluates traffic signals on the road when you are driving at speeds of more than 40mph. and works out when it's time to take a break.
    Basically it pings a message on the dash with an acoustic warning to tell you when it’s time to take a break, from experience usually after a certain time has elapsed at moderate-high speed driving.
