YES FINALLY someone understands. Nezarec looked a lot more "hive-like" in the cutscene with his original body. He was much more slender with four fingers on each hand with claws. I believe the only piece of him The Witness was able to get was his head. I'm thinking we never see Tormentors until Lightfall because there was some sort of power transfer or gene splicing between Nezarec and the Tormentors. Aphelion being a race of eldritch monsters is very interesting. I really wanna fight Cthulhu's sleep paralysis demon while dressed as Ronald McDonald's head cultist.
The vex are constantly trying to become the final thing in the universe. And will alter their calculations based on new info so that they can continue to become that.
From my understanding, The Vex are likely the Final Shape from a universe prior to ours in which paracausality did not yet exist. The Vex in a world without paracausality are quite simply unbeatable, and this is part of the reason why we believe this to be the case.
Honestly thought the aphelion would be more of a raid boss than a whole race because they are extremely terrifying paracausal entities that swim around in space and breach hulls of ships with their mouths/claws as well as having the ability to alter the memories and leave no trace of what they did. The Star eater scales exotic lore is most likely referencing an aphelion so that’s pretty much the closest thing to what we can imagine an aphelion to look like.
The aphelion being a race would be much more interesting as an entire group then just another one off boss that’s forgotten for all intensive purposes after it’s expansion.
Tbh tormentors are kinda part of the cabal now. The witness has practically gifted the tormentors to the cabal and they work with eachother with eachother hand in hand. Calus even has 2 personal imprints of nezarec which are the strongest type of tormentors that he sends at us during the final mission. The only one who seems ri hate and not want to work with the shadow legion is the original tormentor nezarec who hates them
The time for a new enemy race was for Lightfall, when the Witness and the Black Fleet arrived in force. Cabal proxies while they make sense should have been accompanied by the Witness's own troops from outside the system. Edit: Wow, never expected such a good response, thanks guys. Glad I've helped to spark a healthy debate
@Hardhead456 they are technically a race though. besides it’s not bungies fault people saw the old concept art and got themselves hyped for something that will probably never come, and if it did it would 100% not lead up to the overhype players have set for it. then more complaining and bashing of the devs would occur
What i really wanted for Lighfall was the Traveler to start resurrecting the allies of humanity. "The shadow legion broke into Caiatl´s ship, she, saladin and many others fought them and won, but many died, while Saladin and Caiatl were discussing their next step a small group of ghosts aproached the fallen warriors, they died for their empress, they were strong, their lights... were strong. Mithrax escorted a group of eliksni to safety, but they were ambushed, one of them fell, while Mithrax took cover a lone ghost aproached the body... the eliksni got their light back"

“Biblically accurate angels”-esque type enemy race would be really cool. Imaging exploring a new planet and you just come across 3 Seraphim on a patrol.
Damn, now that I think about it, the enemies are in the same order as we fought them in D1 vanilla, starting with the Fallen, then going for the Hive, fighting against the force of the Cabal army and finally ending the battle against the Vex in the Black Garden. Now that's poetic imo
Yup. I quickly noticed this pattern after TWQ and I think it is no coincidence. As a D1 player I felt deja vu and I quickly realized "wait a minute..."
The Aphilion can have a unique encounter in gambit since drifter hates them, they could could invade the gambit arena and both teams have to fend off the invasion. And you could include cool weapons to drop only from the Aphilion invasion maybe add the new subclass damage type to said weapons
If the vex are actually next, I think there would likely be a new faction, since the house of salvation, lucid hive and shadow legion were all also new factions.
I bet we'll get Vex for The Final Shape. The Sol Divisive have been more of a focus lately & it would make sense poetically that the enemy we fight in D1 Vanilla in the end is the same faction we fight at the beginning. Also, the Vex have a lot to do with the Dark and Light, as well as being one of the oldest organisms in Destiny. Then you have all the expansions we've received over the years, we're due for another Vex themed expansion since the last one was Splicer, all the way back in Beyond Light. With that said, I wish we'd have gotten a new enemy faction when the Pyramids arrived, because all of these proxy armies (Scorn, Taken, Cabal Clones, Wrathborn, Xivu Hive, etc) feel like they're "Well we don't have anything else to use at this point, it'll have to do". Even Nezarec laughs at the Cabal in his own raid LOL. I do not feel threatened at all by any of them, other than the Tormentors of course.
To add to your vex comment, I think a new sect of Vex will worship the Veil (the light) akin to the ones in the black garden worship the heart. Regardless, with Bungie introducing The Witness, Eramis, and Xivu Arath I think the Vex will 100% take a back seat. There's too many story threads going at the moment.
i really thought the dead man's tale quest was gonna lead into a darkness fungus themed creature faction that is like this game's flood with enemies that crawl on walls and cielings and stuff
I like to think that the Tormentors are just an introduction to the Witness's true army. I can see the Tormentors being the bulky heavies, and other units being inspired by the other main enemies we have faced. Fallen themed Witness unit - A short but nimble foot soldier that may be physically weak, but uses a wide range of attacks and weapons, as well as moving all over the place. From scurrying across the floor to climbing up the walls and even hanging down from the ceiling. Hive themed Witness unit - a priest or cleric that serves as support. Granting buffs and healing its allies and dish out debuffs to its enemies. Vex theme - not sure
A sharpshooter who upon taking damage shifts to another location and leaves a resonance explosive in place? (think like the hobgoblin rifles/mechanic??)
I like the vex idea, but I think it’s likely we’ll get a new race for final shape, as I’d be wired to end off with an enemy we’ve seen before. Just a thought.
Don't get your hopes up, After Forsaken management changed and the teams behind D2 are a bunch of Young lazy entitled brats who think the community enjoy Mum Joke humour. Pretty sad imo
the tormentors look like they were pulled from another enemy race, given ligthfall was a filler dlc, they most likely ran out of time, took the tormentors and put them in with the cabal.
There is no way we get a new location inside the traveler and there is casually vex, fallen, hive, taken and cabal hanging out in there already doing their usual stuff! :D
What I am hoping (coping) is that due to the fact lightfall was just scraps pulled from what the final shape was going to be means that tormentors are a preview of the darkness race that might be added in The Final Shape
I still think a proper darkness rave (edit: meant race, leaving it in cuz autocorrect made a funny) NEEDS to happen, that creature of mechanical sound and earthy smell you mentioned harkens from the collapse it's from a black armory lore book and it's entry still haunts me, I can't imagine the fear those people felt as some eldritch horror beat on the door for hours. I definitely want the aphelion as well, so much lore about them, and the one thing to make drifter shit himself they got big shoes to fill. I hope after all is said and done they actually take the eliskni and cabal out as enemy races for new things, we've made allies it feels weird fighting enemies we've made friends with I know there's sects and stuff but I feel like at the end of this we need to move forward as allies. And God help us whatever comes after the darkness, cuz we all know powercreep is a bitch and definitely has big shoes to fill.
The stranger once described the vex as “an evil so evil it despises other evil.” Let’s see that happen. Wet earth and mechanical noises line up very neatly with black garden vex as well, and that’s a description from a lore card I cannot forget, that we’ve still never seen.
I kinda want Aphelion to be scary. Like ghostly scary, you know? Not like hideous monsters, we have enough of those. I need them to be creepy and ghostly. The first time we encounter them we should feel the same terror that the people in lore did.
So a ghostly hideous monster? Are you proposing we fight the phantom guardians floating around the moon? Or would these apparitions have a more....monstrous appearance, perhaps? Would they be like the Fresno night crawler, some white pants just walkin/floating/jumping around. They could be more serpentine like in the lore tab where drifter found those inky black shadows. They'd resemble the Typhon too much though. Really, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I am honestly curious how this new race could be ghostly and scary while distancing from the monstrous. Like the concept art of that white bulgy creature. It is more ghostly, more regal, but still has an air of decrepit. Ancient bones reanimated.
@@ghoulishgoober3122 I mean I don't want them to be just straight up hideous monsters like Cabal or Hive. It's difficult to explain and might be a long shot. I want them to be ghoulish. Like ghostly things that can appear around you randomly (Take the Taken but scarier) whose figures you can't quite make out and they won't be seen unless they decide to attack you. There should be an air of mystery about them at least in the beginning. Maybe I'm just rambling pointlessly but 🤷♂️.
Honestly the description of the Aphelion could make for a good light based enemy type. Hell if they want to do the whole "Going beyond dark and light" kinda bit they could be a species that wield both! Would explain why (if we assume Drifter encountered them) they are able to suppress light power while also "shimmering" themselves.
I wanted to clear this statement at 3:32 , Tormentors are NOT "technically speaking and lore-wise reskinned psions." "Nezarec was once a psion" is completely NOT true, there was never a mention of either of these statements in lore... Tormentors are Darkness constructs, meaning they are completely Darkness, they have no affiliation to psions. They follow the Witness and only the Witness. Tormentors have similar abilities because they are theorized that they are clones of Nezarec's power, thus why the Witness kept his head and only now we see tormentors, since the witness only recently has gathered Nezarec's head as seen in RON. Psions once worshipped nezarec and his capabilities. Void is not specifically light, it is only the imagination of humans and physical that we can wield it. This is why psions, Nezarec, and Tormentors can use void. Since wielding void is possible for non paracausal species, psions learned the way to use void like Nezarec. Nezarec was NEVER a psion, he never had MULTIPLE lives. He only has multiple tombs because his limbs were scattered by the elliskni for its paracausal power. He has tombs because some Elliskni wanted to seperate from Nezarec. The only affiliation Nezarec has with psions are that Nezarec once haunted the lives of the psions to live in people's nightmares, to grow. This made the psions worship Nezarec at one point. That is all, just wanted to correct a mistake, I enjoyed the video! Hopefully we see a new race soon
I was under the impression that tormentors were Lubreans, given their similarities to Rhulk, but I guess Rhulk could have been changed by the Witness to look like tormentors.
It'd be super cool if the Vex somehow managed to create a Divisive that "simulates" Light or Darkness powers. (Hoping it'll be light because the way it worked out in my head makes sense with the Vex getting tired of facing undying Guardians so they simulate Lightbearer powers.)
@foliagedcarcass9116 technically exists since that happened to Saint-14, but it's took centuries within the Infinite Forest for a Vex Mind created for the specific purpose of analyzing Saint-14's Light to be able to create a countermeasure. And it was so highly specialized it'd _only_ work on Saint-14's Light
@@ShadowEclipse777 The Black Garden Vex only developed the means to suppress Saint's Light specifically because of how dangerous he was. There's been a handful of other cases where a Guardian's Light was taken away from them, either temporarily or permanently. The closest case would be Zavala when he temporarily lost his Light during Risen, I think. The Psion insurgents managed to create a bullet that suppressed the effects of Light temporarily. But now that I think back on it, the Vex being tied to Strand could also work. Sever as an effect unique only to the Vex could cut off a Guardian's connection to the Light. Or perhaps the third and final Darkness subclass interacts with Light in some "anti-thesis" way.
The Aphelion have got the most mysterious yet terrifying lore, when the queens techeun's, (the people who decimated an entire hive god's fleet and walk the ascendant realm), can't do nothing against them, you gotta think they might be a riven level threat. Also I pray the following expansion after TFS we have drifter as main character if we go to that darkness planet, but the actual serious version of him with his lore, not cheeseball "transmat firing!" drifter.
Crazy concept, Clovis bray seeking to rule time, hijacks the vex net and becomes a vexmind, creating the vexos (vex +exo) where he creates his own timeline in which he won and created his immortal exo empire, and upgraded his original exo model with vex parts, using the cannibalized vex parts to Frankenstein a new race. Imagine if they spoke English, like these were humans that willingly butchered themselves for their emperor, and the English banter we would here would almost be surreal as we hit them with the new exotics
Scorn are just offbrand fallen. What we really want is a completely new enemy faction, not some reused horseshit like every enemy except taken has been (even taken are, in a way, reused. They're literally called taken)
I’ve been thinking about the Vex being led by Clovis Bray in his image, kind of like a subrace or faction called the Simulacra. Not only would it play on the idea of simulation and hyperreality in relation to the work of Baudrillard (taken up in films like The Matrix), but also the idea from Deleuze’s work about the powers of the false and the shattering of the model/copy distinction.
Actually the tormentors and Nezarec are not psions, the psions worshipped Nezarec and the psions power seems to be influenced by Nezarec, but apart from that Nezarec is described as a chimera and we still don't know it's origins.
I remember back in the day of D1, probably either pre taken king or early it. Watching lore video of the cards for the vex of Ishtar synk and that whole story of the scientists going crazy over not knowing if they were in a vex simulation or not was great. A cought up vex story sounds pretty fun :)
Imagine vex created out of pyramid tech, maybe plated in the same material as the pyramids with lights matching the colour of darkness resonance Also I think it’d be cool for some sort of plague enemy as the next race, having Bungie return to a halo sort of thing and make something similar to The Flood

Rewrite: So, as a final move by the Witness before its killed at the end of Final Shape, he does what the Traveler does at the end of Red War and wakes the Aphelion from a slumber. One by one, the climb from a swampland someplace, camera focusing on one of the smaller units, then as it rises, more rises as the camera cuts back to show them. Then for the last shot, a Legion of Aphelion from all shapes and sizes, shrouded in shadow and a green hue of the swamp, and all trudging through the muchbtoward the camera before a loud screech is heard and then the camera cuts to black. That would be cooking with GAS
Honestly? We might still see it put to use. The markings and symbology on the top of the Veil is eerily close to the stuff you see in the Dreaming City. The place working on a delicate balance of light and dark, and the first place we hear of the Aphelion...
The Aphelion seems to be energy beings. Actual eldritch horrors. I propose leaving the Aphelion not as a race, but as a raid encounter. Not as a boss, but a mechanic. "No Matter how many gods youve killed, you Will not survive It". This line sets an expectation, one of these things is so dangerous you cannot even think of killing It, and survival is almost impossible. As such, It would only fit as part of a raid encounter in which you are stalked by an Aphelion, you Only catch glimpses of It in the darkness and you have to stall It enough until It loses its interest with you and leaves you alone. So you can proudly say you survived the Aphelion
I love how this video changes from speculation about a new enemy race to your long speech about a new saga. As you said from 10:17, the addition of a whole new enemy race will bring a fantastic in-game experience to us, and it's gonna be more than the Hive Guardians and the Tormentors could do.
I think he’s speaking more so in terms of design because technically the brutes were part of the covenant as well, and the fallen are definitely the elites
Something I would love to see is an Age Rating change. Destiny has always been rated T but i think it should mature a bit alongside the fan base; Most of us started playing this game as teens or young adults, and now that we're older I think it makes sense to bump up the rating, see some blood, hear some language, Up the brutality of the game tenfold. I wanna see this new enemy race in all their horrible beauty. I want them to be ruthless, literally tearing apart enemies and Guardians alike. I really hope Bungie doesn't continue on their path of being inclusive and PC for everyone, if they wanna keep a majority of their fan base then they gotta up their game and give players what they want or at least take some inspiration by it
I think the issue on putting new races stems from the fact that Bungie decided to write in lore that says the hive and black fleet killed of dozens, possibly hundreds of other species while following the traveler across space, and what we see in game (as well as very rarely hear about in certain lore tabs) could be what is left including humanity
The lore already contests your suggestion, the Aphelion in lore are built up to be entities that are of Raid tier power, to make a faction of them is to go against that lore. as if I recall they are also non sentient, and are more simply monsters, However adding them in some capacity to the game post Witness makes a lot of sense. as clearly the Witness's power is going to be narratively above any raid boss we've faced, so to have some sort of enemy that is in that range would make a lot of sense. It also makes sense narratively that the Aphelion could be "hiding" given the forces at play in Sol, and once those threats are gone, they may emerge. Similarly to possibly more Ahamkara who have been rumored to be in the further reaches of the system, and likely exist still outside the system.
The cabal empire is supposed to be incredibly huge yes they lost their homeworld and took a beating in Sol but don’t tell me there isn’t any other race in it stationed in another solar system
Like how due to the high lost of troop Ciatal need to conscripts an ex military species that they took over while conquering or she decide employs mercenaries and some of them defunct to the enemy because of better pay/bigger win or survival chance cchance
It's implied we only killed the Ahamkara in the Sol system. They can take any form that suits them. Destiny's a fantasy story at heart so let's get a race of flying dragonlings. It would be unique, most currently flying enemies stay close to the ground, only fly high when over a pit, or just fly to cover ground quickly. A faction that has full use of the Z-axis will make them stand out. Clipping their wings and getting them grounded could be part of their mechanics.
I think it’s pretty unfair to say that the taken scorn and tormentors are not new enemies. First with the scorn, yes technically they are fallen but they don’t really look like fallen and they have completely different enemies (like screebs and abominations + more) and mechanics compared to the fallen which means bungie actually had to make all that from the ground up. Next are the Taken, while they are direct reskins of other enemy races, they have very different mechanics then each enemy they parallel. Like taken ogres having knock back, taken goblins having shield beams, taken psions able to duplicate, taken nights able to shoot flames, and dont get me started on taken phalanx… but yea again those are all new mechanics that make you have to play different by prioritizing different enemies to succeed And lastly tormentors, id say it’s extremely unfair to say that they are basically a different version of psions. They are literally completely new enemies made from the ground up. All in all id say people need to give bungie more credit because they are still updating enemy races to give them different units that they were previously missing like in warmind when they added hive sniper acolytes (which kinda when unnoticed by the community) and also as said in the video stuff like fallen briggs.
I want to finally see that moth race which was supposed to originally be the Hive, similar design to Savathun. But I want a whole enemy race of that flying around and shooting us would such a welcoming and different encounter.
My friends suggested a dark zone like The Division had to replace Gambit and I think that's a great idea! And you know what, maybe throw in a few of those so called Aphelion to make it spicy 😉
Those plant monsters should come from the traveler, since it made those freaky plants in the raid, a light enemy faction (maybe these are the aphelion since plants shimmered and shit). They really ought to use the designs of tormentors/rhulk/nezzy for a dark enemy faction. An easy 5th and 6th subclass, especially since we're making nice with the other races. There is also that weird plant substance that was introduced in DMT exotic quest. But who knows, as much as I like playing the game, I'm kind of jaded that they would put anything substantially new until after the final shape (but still incredibly skeptical) or give us a solid chunk of content like how they did with forsaken. I hope I'm wrong though, I hope they got some big anime comeback just around the corner that's going to knock me out. Let's hope.
I would love something elegant for the 5th major enemy faction. The Disciples are all very regal, ornate, and most importantly, they’re all have gigantic egos. I think the Witness’s primary fighting force should reflect that. The average footsoldier (akin to Goblins, Dregs, Acolytes, and Legionnaires) could be a tall, spindly being similar to the Kaminoans from Star Wars, but Witnessified(?). The Fallen are Scavengers on the verge of extinction, The Hive are magic-wielding moths with a medival type society, The Cabal are Ancient Rome but Hippos, and the Vex are Machines that you can’t tell are from ancient pasts or distant futures. None of which are particularly elegant or regal in their themes or style.
I just got over the entire anime opening series, and I’m just blown away. It gets me even imagine how well you can deliver a RAID anime opening series……. (👀👀)
The fifth race with the shadows and all of the pyramids is basically what we’re getting in the tormentors and the pyramids. Think about it in the lore, we hear about entities that have no head that make sounds like scraping metal and smell like wet earth. I don’t recall in the lore anything regarding drifter directly being scared of the aphelion just of the beings he encountered on the ice planet which were never named. Tormentors lack the majority of things resembling a head. And make metallic sounds. Even Ada mentioned them in the black armory lore during the collapse. It makes more sense for the headless to be the tormentors rather than the aphelion.
Since we didn't get one in Lightfall, I would naturally conclude that Bungie would save new enemy races for the next "saga" in Destiny. Slapping one haphazardly in Final Shape without time to flesh them out or explore them would be stupid. Maybe drop a single one as the ultimate Raid boss for the last Raid, create a teaser for the future. Bungie writers have enough to balance as it is with two rival Cabal factions, two rival Eliksni factions, at least two remaining coordinating Vex factions, and two rival Hive factions.
I still think, given how old concept art not only shows misty white creatures that have a similar look to the witness but also one of them has a triangle behind them, and how the witness is made up of multiple beings, that the witness itself will be the next enemy race and will be in the final shape
I got an idea of a new disciple This disciple is known as the storm collector. He can overwhelm anyone with a powerful darkness storm that can wipe anything
I don’t know if it’s just me, but if this aphelion stuff does happen to be the next saga then i soooo want it to be a horrifying experience. Something that is magnitudes scarier than descending the pit in the dark below all the way back in D1. I want to feel the fear those techeuns felt and actually embrace the aspect of a new unfamiliar foe.
The one that looks like a tree rooted could be something that broke into the black Armory bunker during the collapse as it was described as smelling like wet earth and making sounds or screeching metal
I like the lore about the Aphelion and those wet creatures but been hearing that those wet creatures are actually hives but maybe new version made by Xivu Arath herself or the last proto hive in lore
“I am willing to supply emanations of my void energy as your needed ‘race.’ Imagine monstrosities of the elements, (in my case void) constantly adapting their form to defeat the guardian. Big ships in the shape of my weapon.” -lorentz
It's not gonna happen. Arrivals and Beyond Light should have made it very clear Bungie messed up the opportunity to have aliens pilot the Pyramid ships. Instead they made the damn things empty, then in TWQ they introduced Disciples that pilot them and left it at that. I highly doubt we will ever see a "Veil" type pyramid enemy race. That's why I'm banking on the Aphelion instead. They are so interesting, and a really good candidate for a new Saga big bad
@@aksula-1 Honestly yeah, I gathered they wouldn't do it the moment they made the Pyarmid ships hollow. I was expecting them to be full of enemies but nada. Lightfall also just kind of killed off all the hundreds of ships he had without ever mentioning it lol. I WISH they did what Warframe does after a big story event and had the ships and factions linger and move around after the fact. Makes the word feel so much more alive.
I honestly hate that you said “fallen, darkness, hive, light, cabal, darkness, and the vex…” darkness?? If there’s a repeating pattern that you recognized why would you not assume the vex get the light or at least some simulated form of it. They’ve been after the veil for forever now and it’s theorized the veil has some sorta connection to the traveler. Maybe through the veil the vex can achieve this form of light
The Aphelion concept art seems kinda like The Root from Remnant. It would be cool to see them and other weird lore creatures in the Final Shape, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
We should have creatures that look like guardians but use Stasis and Strand. We should call them Hollows. Dead Guardians brought to "life" by the witness. Like the Black Lanterns did to the DC heroes

Speaking of Vex in Final Shape: Weren't the Vex also some supposed "Ultimate Lifeform" before the Light and Darkness turned on each other?
The vex are constantly trying to become the final thing in the universe. And will alter their calculations based on new info so that they can continue to become that.
We're supposed to be fighting the garden/architect version of the vex and haven't fought the soldier variant yet.
From my understanding, The Vex are likely the Final Shape from a universe prior to ours in which paracausality did not yet exist. The Vex in a world without paracausality are quite simply unbeatable, and this is part of the reason why we believe this to be the case.
@Majestic Majestic Perhaps because the soldiers were never created by bungie just yet

@@blackjovian9414 that's honestly a cool theory but I think they would have made it more public if they were gonna add a new race.

I hope we get to see the vex’s true soldiers

Canonically, humanity is the only thing that can wield both, Aphelion were described by the drifter to suck away the light just by being near
A new Darkness race that has the red leather look of Rhulk and the Tormentors would be cool.
Dude imagine a debuff that counts-down a vex simulating you and once it’s over, it one shots you predicting you every move (lore wise)
A enemy race that is terrifying would definitely make for a fun new campaign.

“Ever since the taken, we haven’t gotten a new enemy faction.”
Scorn: “Am I a joke to you?”
Final Shape having a Vex focus using Darkness? Now I can see Vex fighting Vex. Makes sense even with how the races are being placed.

That awkward moment when The Veil was wasted on a magic mushroom instead of the actual initial concept of a darkness race.
Honestly? We might still see it put to use. The markings and symbology on the top of the Veil is eerily close to the stuff you see in the Dreaming City. The place working on a delicate balance of light and dark, and the first place we hear of the Aphelion...
bungie must have been on shrooms when making that decision lol.
Coming back lol

Cabal would be the covenant bc they are a group of different races. The fallen are all one race they just eat more to grow.
I think he’s speaking more so in terms of design because technically the brutes were part of the covenant as well, and the fallen are definitely the elites

I’d really like to see the vex expanded on after the final shape. They have sooo much potential.
I really hope Bungie doesn't continue on their path of being inclusive and PC for everyone, if they wanna keep a majority of their fan base then they gotta up their game and give players what they want or at least take some inspiration by it
I think that what were starting to see with how the witness effortlessly killed the 3 guardians in their ships but i just hope they get there faster
I think the issue on putting new races stems from the fact that Bungie decided to write in lore that says the hive and black fleet killed of dozens, possibly hundreds of other species while following the traveler across space, and what we see in game (as well as very rarely hear about in certain lore tabs) could be what is left including humanity
The lore in your description has already been confirmed to have been the hive. As the hive have been described to smell of wet earth many times
So could it be xivu arath army?
It would be badass if Ahamkara race would be a good kind to battle. Would make Lord Saladin go into action with the cabal taking down dragons.
Based comment
They are all dead… riven was the last one
I just want to know what the witness meant when it talked about the “first” victims of the veil.
The cabal empire is supposed to be incredibly huge yes they lost their homeworld and took a beating in Sol but don’t tell me there isn’t any other race in it stationed in another solar system
Hell Calus alone encountered like 11 different species in the time he was exiled
I’m just saying, if Bungie wants to be lazy but give us a new faction, why not use Frames. Imagine fighting a variety of Frames with the big boi.
God that would be amazing
Frames would be sick and would kinda make lots of sense considering Clovis probably despises us rn (more than usual)
Or not be lazy and make a new race
That drifter impression at the end was 10/10
Witness cannot be out here looking like a jellyfish smh
I think it’s pretty unfair to say that the taken scorn and tormentors are not new enemies.
First with the scorn, yes technically they are fallen but they don’t really look like fallen and they have completely different enemies (like screebs and abominations + more) and mechanics compared to the fallen which means bungie actually had to make all that from the ground up.
Next are the Taken, while they are direct reskins of other enemy races, they have very different mechanics then each enemy they parallel. Like taken ogres having knock back, taken goblins having shield beams, taken psions able to duplicate, taken nights able to shoot flames, and dont get me started on taken phalanx… but yea again those are all new mechanics that make you have to play different by prioritizing different enemies to succeed
And lastly tormentors, id say it’s extremely unfair to say that they are basically a different version of psions.
Do we need a new enemy?
Yes
Of course not. Why bother to improve? Let's fight the same mobs we've known for almost 10 years.

Now I gotta study the names
Let's hope.
Legit, the taken king, exploring the dreadnought and the taken there was so cool
One enemy I could see are evil guardians probably it’s mostly likely going to be skinned hive guardians, but smaller framed
Agreed, corrupted guardians are the way too go. Just like in the dark timeline.
Even the concepts for variants of previous enemies would be enough to shake it up
I can see there being two vex versions in the final shape. One weilding Light, the other weilding Darkness.
9:00 must be a screeb
If i'm not mistaken, the Cabal faction is made up of all different enemy types, forced to fight for the Cabal, or maybe that's just the Pisions
I still think, given how old concept art not only shows misty white creatures that have a similar look to the witness but also one of them has a triangle behind them, and how the witness is made up of multiple beings, that the witness itself will be the next enemy race and will be in the final shape
I got an idea of a new disciple
This disciple is known as the storm collector. He can overwhelm anyone with a powerful darkness storm that can wipe anything
The Aphelion could be Destiny’s “Flood” race and I’d be here for it all day
What about the race of enemies with tormentors and rulk and neserac they technically introduced them but not in the best way
I don’t know if it’s just me, but if this aphelion stuff does happen to be the next saga then i soooo want it to be a horrifying experience.
They should put a couple of new enemy race sometime during finale shape to introduce them then the rest during new beginning
“I am willing to supply emanations of my void energy as your needed ‘race.’ Imagine monstrosities of the elements, (in my case void) constantly adapting their form to defeat the guardian. Big ships in the shape of my weapon.”

what is this
Gambit should incorporate the new boss enemies.
Give me a hive light bearer and tormentor high value targets. That would be neat
The darkness race need to be so powerful and mysterious. They've been building up to them since Day 1 of Destiny 1.
Cause it fits them. I would like to see Vex wielding the next Subclass personally, would be sick
