Ko bros are doing the right thing to have an academy of their own at this age. No only competing but sharing the knowledge as well. I am great supporter of KO bros. Go go KO!!!
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife It's pretty cool to hear from you Karl. Admired your game for years brother (except when you were beating us in the Mosconi, lol) Hope all is well.
i love ko pin yi. i have never played pool in my life but i love pool. the 2015 world cup of pool final match ko and chung won it was my 1st pool match watched on youtube. this is wholesome. thank you mr.karl...
Jeeeeezz 30k! welp if there were ridiculously expensive cues out there. World class players like Ko and his brothers are certainly the appropriate players to use them. Cool video.
Hey my man lovely video yet again. I love the Ko brother they are so down to earth and are amazing. Ko bag is stunning. He playing cue is so beautiful. Congrats to Ko on winning the Asian 9 ball this passed week. Saw the final yesterday. Bring on thr next event ( Us open pool I think) ? #MuchLove #HeyPoolFans #PoolLife
KPY is a top 5 player imho. I'll watch his matches vs Shaw, Filler, Gorst, Biado, Orcollo, Feijen. Good looking cue. I thought Shaw's cue was expensive.
nice interview wow on the cue , if i could create a cue Green Crystal into custom cue . Of you get chance meeting the woman check out Yuki Hiraguchi cue it nice ,
I saw jason shaw cue stick from your video. and my reaction was wowww.. US$.6.000. but, this Ko Pin Yi is RIDICILOUS INSANE !!! US$.30.000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN BUY A BEAUTIFUL BRAND NEW CAR !!!!!!!
@@nolluseti indeed, from my experience zen shaft really depends on the wood of the specific shaft you own. For sure taper and ferrule size/weight will affect but as you mentioned it still is solid maple shaft so it can be abit random
modern custom cues have generally improved in shafs deflection, but in the best case senario they are medium-deflection. Recently I tried a Mike Lambros cue and the deflection was not bad at all. Oviously you can't compare with Mezz or Predator, but in those custom shafts often you have a beautiful hit.
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife Wow, that's great to hear....actually they have so much to share, it's kinda wasted that they are limited by their command of english.
The “Holy Cross” cue, a regular price (if regular can ever be the right word for such a custom. Probably average is better) of 15-18k dollars. Ko’s cue is decorated with golden details which of course dramatically raises the price. If I am not mistaken conical tapered ahafts, 12.5 x-pro is little lower deflection than their standard (ZEN) maple shaft. To my knowledge of course. Gorgeous gem for the Taiwanese typhoon. Congrats champ
Just to add on a little bit, the Holy Cross (十字飞翼)with 40 points has a standard price of 80,000 RMB in China, which is roughly around 11k usd. Currently, Zen has 6 different types of shafts, 2 of which is dedicated to american pool, the XPro (with a more pro taper) at 12.5mm and the 95 (akin to old school Southwest shafts) at 13mm. There are 3 more dedicated to chinese 8 ball, the 83, CQ and AR, at 12mm, 11.5 and 11mm respectively. The newest shaft that came out is the XQ, a hybrid shaft that can work on both american and chinese pool, with the slimmest pro taper yet so far from Zen, and a tip diameter of 12mm. Zen cues also adapt a practice commonly done in mainland china, which is adding a taper to the ferrule as well. Most of their shafts (excluding the american pool shafts) has a taper from the beginning of the ferrule to the tip, where the 83 has the most severe taper, 12.6mm at the beginning of the ferrule to 12mm at the tip.
I'd have to hire security if I was carrying around a $30,000 cue! Lol. Absolutely gorgeous cue and the gold inlays are immaculate. I would be scared traveling with that cue! Thanks for the videos Karl!
Great video. Awesome that he's able to communicate in English a bit... His brother Ko Pin Chung knows zero English so i thought we would never have some kind of interview from them...
I've been playing with viking for awhile but use a different brand break cue. Cool to see top players using different brands. Most guys use all 1 sponsor.
finally, we need more videos like this... it also help some amateurs to compare with same type style of play, especially cues and tip. Keep it up karl..
PinYi is a class act and an amazing shooter. Great video. And goodness gracious what a price tag on that cue. Used it well to win it all though! Great vid. Cheers
Love your "What's in the Bag" videos! Please keep em coming! I love that Ko uses a $30k cue for an everyday player & his bag looks like canvas, lol. How will anyone ever top this? One thing you don't ask is the brand / type / material of bags they use, (although I did hear you once ask someone if their bag was a 4x8). Karl, do you still enter the big events, or strictly commentating & vids? Long time subber / subscriber hear
I joked about someday needing to carry a sharpie in my bag. I didn't see one in Ko's bag. He's for sure sharpie level. You need to send him a sharpie so he has one. ;)
Wow $30,000 for a cue! Awesome. You asked all the right questions about the cues.
So glad he's making a comeback after covid, he seems like a genuinely great guy.
Agree, I love both of the Ko's.
all 3 of them are incredible human!
He puts his own tips on his 30k cue? Wow. A true professional.

Can you not interrupt him? He was about to explain why he doesn’t use a glove which I was very interested in hearing.
My bad ! His English is a struggle so didn’t think he could break out into reasons
Nice criticism, but he didn't really have to make the video either.
Thanks Karl for the content. Was rooting for ko.

Does he play with a regular shaft or a low deflection shaft? Thank you, Karl!
zen shaft is all regular shaft i think, not hollow inside, like all hand made cues.
