Rage's interaction with Brad in that scene got me the most in my playthrough. He stuck with me from the very beginning until the very end. When we met in the Rando Land, Rage made himself look like a total asshole, saying he wanted the girl and that I should not have expected anything else from him. But when the fight started, he couldn't hold back tears and barely attacked me. Even right before that final fight he did his best to put on a show, sticking to his wrestler persona. Maybe he was hoping his words would make Brad feel less guilty for killing him, if that's what it had to come to. Thank you, Rage.
OMG I HAD RAGE IN MY FIRST PLAYTHROUGH, sadly he surely attacked me in my case, and that's why the fight hurt me the most with his last dialogue... I'm happy that it wasn't your case, shows the difference of the game depending on the player
There is a theory that the battle of your friends are an hallucination because no one in the Rando army react when Brad kill them and when Brad as no on in his team, he will fight 3 enemies called "friend illusion" or something
@@sacripan4425 I think it was before Painful, idk where I saw it or where I heard it but most people tend to agree that the Terry Area in The Joyful is before the events of Lisa the Painful
Probably because they were either shocked or just didn’t know what the hell was going on. Austin also confirmed that all Painful Party members died in the end of Painful.
The thing about Shocklord's gimmick being that he has an ill-fitting helmet that stops him from looking in the right direction (like the real Shockmaster IRL) makes his interaction way sadder. It's both him being turned around because he can't look in the right direction ever, but he also just can't bear to look at Brad as he's about to fight him in a losing battle. Shit's tragic.
He coulden't speak the entire game. He coulden't muster a single word no matter what. But here, in his final moments he manages to utter 1 single word "Brad..."
i feel like jack is one of the other saddest end party members. it's heavily implied jack is a kid or a young teen at most. when he says "I've never seen a girl... I have to see what it's like" i take that literally, as in he's wants to know what its like to see a woman thats alive. the fact brad is willing to kill a kid just to get to buddy says a lot.
I'm 2 years late, but you hit the nail on the head. In the campfire scene between Jack and Garth, Jack says he was a baby when The Flash happened, and that he's never seen a woman before. This makes it even sadder to me, because it means Jack never saw his own mother.
It's pretty strong that people you meet at the very beginning of the game are so closely attached to Brad, while party members you can recruit right before Rando's army ground doesn't care about him at all, and even one of them says "I've never liked you anyway... "
FLY HAD HIS REPUTATION STOLEN BY SOME BALD GUY 😡 FLY WAS MY RIVAL BUT I KNEW HE DIDNT FIGHT ME FOR REAL, HE DIDNT PUKE ON ME, HE DIDNT RUN ME OVER, HE HELD BACK!
My headcanon is that brad doesn’t kill his teammates, because the battle rewards zero XP. Any fight that doesn’t give any XP had the person living afterwards.
Playing with mad dog, the duffel bag guy, and fly doesn’t really hurt cause 1. Mad dog killed his son 2. Duffel bag guy hates you 3. Fly is your rival and hates you too
@@mattgroening8872 To be honest, I just wasn't ready for that kind of gameplay dynamic at all. But I deeply appreciate the unique emotional aspect. I also like how a lot of the characters are sorta shitheads in their own right but are still likeable. So it's more difficult when they randomly get killed overnight or whatever.
In my first playthrough of Lisa: The Painful, my party members was: Terry Hintz, Shocklord, and Birdie Hall. I managed to breeze through the whole game with them since they were such a perfect combo, and If any of them got instakill I just loaded a safe because of how good they were together. Then I got to this point, and it was JUST devastating. From their dialogue, and what they look like on the battle screen, it really was the saddest moment (for me at least). The red flash and bell leads me to believe that your party doesn't turn on Brad, but the Joy mutation kicks in and Brad gibs everything, starting with the party.
If Terry's dialogue is like a knife to the heart, Carp's was a suckerpunch straight to my soul. This seemingly dangerous man with tattoos all over his body who wields a blade and doesn't speak english taking a minute to pause just before uttering out "Brad..." Just... Broke me.
Considering the deaths of all Painful party members are confirmed to happen by the end, and if you go in without party members, you see friend illusions... There's a very real chance they already actually have died fighting for Brad.
Fighting Nerv and my team that fought my toughest battles (and remembering all I did to save as many party people as I could) brought me to one of my lowest points in this game. I tried hard to avoid the inevitable of killing off my party, hurting Buddy just to kill Marty, and every bad thing. But what Lisa: The Painful did best was its message.
