Three things I automatically do with Glocks: trigger(flat faced), fiber optic sights (I'm old) and Talon grips - l like to tinker so, unlike other folks, l don't get bent about having to do the work. Thanks for the great video.
One thing i did do that made a world of difference to my G40 mos was changing the frame to the Lone wolf large frame!! Night and day difference for grip vs the stock glock frame!! I didn't alter the trigger other than adding a lighter connector, which made the trigger almost scary light for me. I got a few more add ons to the gun but these two were game changers for me!!!
I ❤my G40. I call it Excalibur, because that's what it feels like when you draw it. The M&P 10mm is awesome as well. G40 for the woods, M&P for concealed.
I love this gun and I did plenty to it to get it running the way I wanted but I also did it in-house. This is precisely what I did to my G40 MOS: - Ghost Inc. Spring replacement kit with 3.5 plus connector. It served to really improve the trigger and I highly recommend. - Trijicon Night Suppressor sights with Ameriglo Haven 3.5 red dot. The irons co-witness with the optic in case it goes out. - DPM Recoil reduction system with steel guide rod. It reduces recoil and runs the gun no problem. - Bullet extended slide release for quicker and easier reloads. It gives you plenty of leverage to engage that release. - Stainless steel firing pin channel spacer just to smooth out that trigger a bit more. - TLR 10 light to blind whatever you point it at with a 1000 lumen beam of light. These modifications made my G40 a comfortable, shootable, truck gun monster and all under $1000 worth of modifications without also compromising the safety and functionality of the weapon.
Good video! I, too, don’t like the “Hump”. Usually, I pour epoxy in the recess behind the mag well and reshape to match my 1911’s. With my 40 MOS, I cut one of the grip inserts in half and only installed the top half. Then, I coated the entire grip area with an industrial non-slip coating I get from Chiri Enterprises. This stuff beats any grip tape out there for durability and you can layer multiple coats to control how coarse the feel is. Happy handgunning!
Great review. I love my G40 and my G20. For the build. Gotta get a SLR +5 Mag Extension or some other +5 mag extension. Hogue handall grips is a must for me. Definitely a Carver tactical magwell.
G40 is my EDC for the last 10 yrs. It will be my EDC til the day I die. Liberty rounds are my ammo for church, and Underwood Penetrators are what I use at home. Can’t go wrong!❤️ 15 plus 1…SWEET!
My biggest complaints are the side finish scratches very easily, the slide release is trash (has to have an extended release) and it would be really helpful to have front serrations on the slide.
Just picked one up. Put 100 rounds through it. Was nervous at first since I don’t enjoy shooting my 45 but the 10mm with the longer barrel was smooth. Still looking for a nice holster
get a aftermarket barrel for it. I shoot hot loads in mine and the Glock BBL doesn't provide full case support. I've had 2 case blow outs over the years. Not good
The one thing that Glock does the best is their 10mm’s. Loved my Glock20, proved much more durable than my Delta Elite (but less accurate). Upgrades on this project: Trigger and Sights, perhaps DPM Systems recoil spring. You already have the best optics mounting solution with C&H Precision.
Don't ever say my Glocks are gross again 😂😂 love tho video keep them coming. I do EDC my G40 10mm Gen4. I only had mine since July 2023. I will upgrade the sights and get an optic. Maybe the Trigger once I get 1K rounds through it and that will be a long time do to my job and not having time. Then at some point I may see about a KKM barrel due to several recommendations. Other than those upgrades I don't see myself needing to go wild with upgrades. I would love to see you do something with the slide and stippling and a trigger that is great for EDC I carry mine IWB it took weeks to get use to that. I never had a chest holst. Can you do video with the chest holster and seeing if the chest holster is concealable
Apart from the holster (also I appendix carry this model myself and while it does print its still very concealable) my first go to with glocks is the ameriglo or trijicon suppressor nigh sights, a combination of either a drop in trigger or lower lb connector and anodized pins/ 45° extended slide lock for better overall use. Anything after that is more up to your needs with the gun but me personally I went with holosun for both my light(1000lumens) and red dot(Holosun scs, directly mounts to the gun and sits flush so you dont need to use suppressor sights and can use whatever iron sights you please on top of not having to find the required plates for mounting optics) with a recently acquired timney alpha 3lb trigger so would recommend 10/10 you do need big hands thought im 6'1 and it still looks large😂
It’s not a slide release. It’s a slide stop lever. When slide’s locked open just sling shot after the empty mag removed, after full mag installed. That’s how it was designed. I’ve been an Glock armorer for years and I always, upgrade sights and talon grips at a minimum. Now with the Gen 5s and the factory Glock Precession Trigger, I install it as well. Don’t recommend aftermarket stuff for internals if your life depends on it.
I got one a few months back new/used with 4 mags and a Bushnell RXS-100 sight. I love the hell out of it but definitely not the best every day carry. perfect for the woods or home defense for the crackheads in Maine though.... I live in Maine and that definitely "cracked" me up! (Pun intended)
Interested to see what upgrades you do to it, I have one and would like to see and get some ideas for some upgrades. I'm looking into getting a mag well and maybe a trigger upgrade.
@@TiberiousGib I like the idea of all those test. I really like my model 40. I use it for handgun hunting whitetail. Want to upgrade mine just not sure what to upgrade next. I've had the grip stipple and added a leupold deltapoint pro to it so far.
I got all the 9mm except the 19 and 34. I got the 40 over the 34 cause it jas that ugly slide cutout because the little 9mm just cant pack the punch that 10mm does. Just cant use 10mm for a service weapon lol.
Apologies if you've already answered this question (haven't scrolled through all the comments). In running drills with the G40, do you consider it to be overly cumbersome to draw and fire rapidly as compared to a G20? I'm trying to decide between a 40 and a 20 for open carry in Montana... Thanks!
I seriously don’t understand why Glock doesn’t just refresh every single one of their pistols at the same time when a new generation comes out, it’s super annoying! Or at the very minimum they should refresh all the ones in the same caliber at the same time when a new generation comes out!
Suppressor height sights as BUS in the event your optic fails. Get a good aftermarket trigger, an aftermarket barrel for hard caste rounds for woods carrying.

I just picked up a G40 Gen 4. Let’s go for the build. My first upgrade is going to be a Holosun MOS direct mount.
Solid choice, my next upgrade is a trigger

I’m considering a Glock 40 for pig hunting and just a general woods gun. I’d like to see what you do for sights and trigger upgrades on it.
I’m being indecisive 🤔
Love my 40, I EDC it. Waiting for the calendar to turn to buy a gen 5. Hopefully gen 4/5 mags work in both.
Gangsta, carrying a G40 🤘
Planning to buy one. Very informative vid!
Glad it was helpful!
Timberwolf large frame lower. Straight 1911 grip, way better trigger. You'll love it broski!

What would you compare the recoil too? How bad is it?
A 40 s&w Glock 23 is similar, it’s really not bad with the enormous slide

Is there an update on this as to what mods were done?

Does the g40 have a fully supported chamber. And lans and groves in the barrel?
