answer key 1. Question 1: A man invests in an 18 percent stock at 144. What is the interest obtained by him? The nominal value of the stock is 100. The dividend is calculated as 18 percent of the nominal value, which is 18. To calculate the interest yield, divide the dividend by the market price and multiply by 100. That is, (18 divided by 144) multiplied by 100, which equals 12.5 percent. Thus, the interest obtained per share is 18, and the interest yield is 12.5 percent on the investment. 2. Question 2: A invested Rs 4500 in a stock at a 10 percent discount. If the dividend in the stock is 12 percent, what is his income? The market price of the stock is 90 since the nominal value is 100 and the stock is purchased at a 10 percent discount. The number of shares purchased is calculated by dividing the investment by the market price, which is 4500 divided by 90, equaling 50 shares. The dividend per share is 12 percent of the nominal value, which is 12. Thus, the total income is 50 multiplied by 12, which equals 600. 3. Question 3: A invested in a 6 percent stock at a 5 percent premium. If she gets a dividend of Rs 360 at the end of the year, how much did she invest? The market price of the stock is 105 since it is purchased at a 5 percent premium over the nominal value of 100. The dividend per share is 6 percent of the nominal value, which is 6. The number of shares purchased is calculated by dividing the total dividend by the dividend per share, which is 360 divided by 6, equaling 60 shares. The total investment is then calculated by multiplying the number of shares by the market price, which is 60 multiplied by 105, equaling 6300.
@26:07 could you please check the answer is incorrect, it has asked 12% of dividend as dividend should be on the face value how this is calculated on number of shares
