- In this video we show you How To Fit a Bespoke Wooden Staircase
Tony describes the process the guys will use to put the staircase together. Using the drawing that Lyndale stairs gave, Tony shows where the treads, kites and where the main landing will be set up.
Tony then takes some measurements in preparations for some cuts needed to make for the treads. Glue is then applied to the relevant pieces including wedges and the leading edges.
The risers are then screwed in, Tony and the guys lift the staircase in place and Pete begins installing more risers, and gluing in the bottom panels of the staircase.
Pete then screws in the north post after getting it level. The next day Tony explains the remaining detail work that he has to be done to the staircase.
Tony then does some cuts on the null and fastens it with some screws, makes sure everything is level before putting it all together for a dry run.
Later Tony begins to apply glue to the necessary treads after cleaning the excess glue, Tony then installs the final risers to complete the staircase.

Very nicely fitted Tony 👊🏻 Something rather satisfying when fitting stairs and it’s more like key hole surgery..
Newels also have some great details. 😮
Another cracking video! Great job fitting the staircase 👍
Love watching your attention to detail unfortunately missing in a lot of work these days … only one way the right way 👍
Every video I pick up good good advice 👍 great skilled men.
Awesome to watch Tony ❤master craftsmanship
As always Tony a quality job 👌
Hi Tony and the guys. That looks like a lovely stair case. A lot work to put in but nice detail. Nice job Tony as always. Tight under the stairs and all the copper pipes. Late night but worth it. 👍
Great video !!! Very Enjoyable !! thank You
I was just thinking about researching this, then A and E popped up. Stellar as always.
Amazing work Tony. Lovely to see the process.
Beautiful work! I love the windows as well.
🧡🧡🧡
I’m still waiting to see that new stiletto in the background Tony 😊
Great video and nice work, love watching you guys building stuff and having a good laugh , life is to short 😊
a master at work great video
We've watched a few of your videos today for a home education project, they are brilliant and really helped with understanding the work that goes into building a house!
Cracking job Tony.👏👏
I wish i was this skilled man.
Great work as always Tony. 👍👍
English craftsmen at their best,😁
love these videos, keep them coming please mate!
Well they will never speak , lovely job🤙🏽. Who was the poor bugger who had to film you till 6.45 on a Friday night 🤔😂🧱👍🏼
Hi Guy’s hope you’re well, it was Clare but working late is just part of the graft we all live for all the best and love to everyone Tony and family ❤️👍
Fitting a staircase is one of the most satisfying jobs in carpentry work. I think its a great sense of achievement connecting the separate floor levels.
Looks great, how come you didn't make the staircase yourself Tony?
Time and cost really nothing else, Lyndale have CNC staircase routers and built it in a day and a half all the best Tony 👍
Ya if u make it this has been manufactured off site
Staircase build is joinery.. fitting is carpentry.
@@rogue2419 we know that pal👍
Nice job as always, bloody plumbers made it it awkward at the bottom. The finished result will look great. 👍👏👏
Looks solid. If only they used as much glue when they built my staircase! So squeaky
Can’t have enough glue all the best Tony
Hi there guys, who designed the stairs and what company supplied them because they look really good and great quality
Hi Chris
Lyndale Stairs
That’s all they do really cracking company knows stairs inside out
All the best Tony 👍
Hey Tony, on one of your previous videos you were ranting about impact drivers not being necessary and the bloody noise they make…. I’ve disowned my impact drivers and got a lovely festool driver couldn’t believe you are on video using an impact for such small screws 😮😂
Hi James 😂 so true I was borrowing Marks it was quick to hand, I think my tools were in the other van as well but the noise on them does make my ears ring all the best Tony 👍
@@BuildWithAE I used to use them all the time until you said about it then literally the next day that noise was driving me insane! I’ve banned them with my lads too unless we’re using some big fixings. Maybe I’m just getting old and miserable 🤣

Tony in stairs like this, what takes most the load? The floor that the stairs launch from, the side stud wall they screw too, or the floor above that the top of the stair hangs from?
The way stairs are designed and built are 99 percent self supporting once put together correctly, stairs load onto the trimmers, newel posts and bottom tread. All the best Tony 👍
You need to get your Electrican to fit Yoozyboxs to switches /sockets rather than packing them off , they are a plastic extension that can be reused , not only does it cover connections so nobody gets a belt , they give a neat edge to plaster round and makes it easier for plasterer , also if you do a lot of tiling in kitchen round sockets fit them first and then tile right up to the box, neat straight edge that the socket will then cover and no more guessing or nibbling tiles once you screw them back ….. nice job on the staircase 👌🏻
The amount of pre-planning, discussions with clients and organising with good quality reliable suppliers that goes on with a project like this must be immense not to mention sorting all your trades and passing that info on. Are you ever able to switch of from work Tony or is your brain constantly buzzing?!!
Hi coops66 I think as you get older you start to learn how to manage your time better and the key is being organised but sometimes the head does have brain fog 😂 all the best Tony 👍
Will the stairs be painted are carpeted? the risers didnt look like they would be the final face material.
Hi Rob painted and central carpet run 👍
Stairs are gorgeous Tony😍Beautiful moulded top wall string all the way down, and outside cut strings always look classy👌Crackin job as always guys😎 (check your WhatsApp😉)
Hi Del much appreciated I will check out 👍
Are those newels hemlock
It was sapelle 👍
Looks a bit tight on the wall going to lose that lovely detail on the string when plastering goes back but quality work as always guys 👍🏻
Hi Matt it’s close but definitely will not but I will show a finishing video later all the best Tony 👍
@@BuildWithAE 👍🏻love the videos keep them coming
Much preffered John, Tony talks down to you
Hi Christian please identify were I talk down to you in the video very curious all the best Tony 👍
Anyone see pete get hit in the face? 10:10
Come on tony. spill the beans. why did you fall out with john? it's killing me..
Hi John is an amazing tradesman but he has completely come out of the construction industry all together. John will always be a dear friend all the best Tony 👍
@@BuildWithAE No way! How mad is that. All that knowledge gone to waste.
Is John the small guy with tattoos?
@@Jo-xg6rk Yes. Tony has buried him under a patio somewhere 👀
They fell out very obvious
Nerd alert 08.30 Pete using wrong side of the wooden dowel 😜
Nice fit guys 👍🏼
Hi dalerobertmoore it looks like he did but he didn’t the dowel was clipped on the end and he clipped it much smaller on the end he used all the best Tony 👍
@@BuildWithAE OK pal you tell Pete I'm watching him extra close on the next video 🤣🤣🤣
Not bespoke at all.. just standard cut string with platform and wind. Not a job for three men tbh.. two max.
I made it with Woodglut plans!
