No lie, the best explanation I’ve heard for reading a tape measure! I’ll never forget or misjudge a /16” measure again!!! Thank you so much, can you explain angles and how to make them?!
Start a new job tomorrow at hortons emergency ambulance , I've always been able to read a tape just not as quick . A piece of paper, pencil and repeating how you said it in your video continuous times HELPS A TON !!! 5 minutes is all it took! Thanks bro knowledge is power and knowing is half the battle!!
Love your channel. I have spent 50+ years trying to teach coworkers how to read a tape. This is exactly how I TRY to teach them. Some will never learn, and some don't want to. Anyway, glad I found your channel. Interesting hacks and tips.
Thank you. As a German who uses the metric system, I have finally understood what your Americans always use for strange subdivisions. For those who still haven't understood, use the metric system!
Glenn! Thank you so much. you've broken this down to it simplest form. It is the best video I've seen on how to read a ruler. I teach stagecraft middle school students. Your explanation demonstrates a visual and practical application with what they are being taught in their math classes. Thank you very much.
Awesome simplicity : Good on ya : I Have not used these measurements since 1965, when we converted to metric in Africa. Now i have to Learn this LOL`!!! Appreciated this
*Brilliant ...Well done I know how to read a tape measure, your break down will help a lot of young people starting to use tools to do there job, and the tap measure is used in many fields. *Clever You Are!...Millions of useless videos on UA-cam, now yours Top Shelve my friend, this is what its all about....Good Job.
This makes sense. best video I found .Thanks alot .Prefer metric system over standard anyday. Only in America Rest of the world uses metric. Even Canada switched to metrics .
men is very easy, 1km is 1000 meters and 1 meter =10 decimeters =100 centimeters = 1000 milimeters.... 1 inch is 2.54 centimeters 1foot is 30.48 centimeters 1 yard is 94.44 centimeters 1 miles is 1609.34 meters or 1.6 km
ok so...... I really don't like to comment on a lot of things on youtube because...... well let's just leave it there but, watching this video reminded me how i was taught to read a tape measurer years ago but forgot. But it all came back to me after i watched this. Glenn, I watch all of your vids for this reason YOU ALWAYS DO THINGS THE SIMPLEST WAY TO YOU!! phew i guess you can tell how much that means to me although a lot of the ways aren't always as simple to me just because my skill level is no way near where your's is but i love the fact that you do things YOUR WAY (and that way is phenomenal). Don't want to rant, I just appreciate you dude. I have to get some of your plans once i go back to work this corona is real lol. I'm done. Sebastian
that was very helpful that kinda helped me out including I have to learn how to read one before Christmas break I hope I pull through I even wrote what u wrote out on a piece of paper thanks
Reading a tape measure, both standard and metric should be drummed into our kids heads from kindergarten to their senior year of high school..It would give them more confidence to tackle more home repairs and some remodeling around their future homes or apartments.
If you look closely at the line marks, the half inch mark is half the length of a one inch mark, the quarter inch mark is one quarter the length of the a inch mark and half the length of a half inch mark, and so on. In other words, the length of each line provides a hint to it's purpose.
This is a really amazing way ... thank you so much for this video😊 It helped me understand about how to read the measuring tape in a very easy way...😁😁
It's a trap. Most people think others know how to read a tap, so they feel that they should know how to read a tap, so they never learn how to read a tap, because they already should know how to read a tap. And now I know how to read a tap.
Wow, I'm having a hard time to know how to read the ?/8 and the ?/16, this made me laugh 😂 you've made that easy for us to understand. Now I'm not gonna put some pencil mark on the measuring tape 😂 thanks bro. Keep it up. 👍
I'm purchasing a new home, I have a great garage to do projects. My question is could you advice me what tools I should start with? I'm pretty handy, but not sure what tools to start with... please advise thank you.
As far as basic hand tools I wold say check out this video link ua-cam.com/video/pKj3jQcIESc/v-deo.html If you looking to get deep into making you will also want to pick the following below. Table saw and miter saw. The more you learn just buy tools as need them.
Bro . . . _legit_ 💯 THE BEST explanation I've ever heard ! Awesome job! 👏🏻I'm 48 and knew the basics but the way you broke down the 16ths was 🔥! Thx!

The metric system sucks. It's not intuitive and the numbers get huge quick.

Great way to explain it. Thanks
What?!?! I thought everyone knew this since I was like 8. Thanks for reminding me that some people think differently.
It's a trap. Most people think others know how to read a tap, so they feel that they should know how to read a tap, so they never learn how to read a tap, because they already should know how to read a tap. And now I know how to read a tap.
