You're welcome! I like to change between the larger and smaller screens in the videos to show people what's available so it's great to hear that people find it helpful
The reason why the higher trims with the 10.25" infotainment screen have wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is due to the navigation feature. Since the lower trims don't have navigation, they can have wireless connection. My local Hyundai dealership told me.
That's an excuse and not a reason. A number of manufacturers have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with factory navigation. Your dealer is trying to feed you nonsense lol
Does the android auto in the 8 inch screen let you skip tracks using steering controls or using the touch screen when you listen to youtube (Not youtube music)?
Steve, an absolutely great video. Wish I had the transcript! For an older guy to digest so much in such a short time, it's mighty tough, even with pause and starts. My one question is I can't seem to find how to change or rearrange the icons (4) displayed at the bottom of the homescreen as shown at 15:07 in your video. Also, even with Android successfully paired, I can't figure out how to get all the icons on my phone to project to the screen. For example I can only have google maps and want it to switch to waze. Thanks for any help!
Thanks Steven, appreciate that! Try this for transcripts.. login to your UA-cam account on a desktop computer. Just below the video screen you'll see a button with 3 little dots "..." Press that and you should see a Show Transcript button You can check to see what buttons are adjustable by doing a longer press and hold... As in hold for at least 3 seconds. If it starts to follow your finger than it can be moved around. Unfortunately not all android apps are compatible with Android Auto and waze is one of them. You can only use Waze with Apple devices
These videos are very helpful and the vehicle manual is not. Can I set the 'radio' screen as the default screen when I start my 2023 Santa Cruz Preferred?
Hello Steve. Great video! I have an issue where my phone is connected through Android Auto and when I receive a text there is no notification/pop up on the display? Do you know if there is a setting to have a notification/pop up so I can see I received a text?
Thanks Keith, appreciate that! Hmm if you're hooked up through AA/CarPlay or bluetooth there should be an incoming notification. Launch into your Android Auto settings on your phone and scroll down to notifications to make sure Conversations and Conversation Chime are turned on
How do I get the Home Screen to show my maps from CarPlay AND the radio/audio? Currently the widget just shows the option to go to CarPlay rather than mirroring what’s in CarPlay.
You need to be connected to CarPlay for Apple Maps to work but you can run both the radio and Apple Maps at the same time.. 1. Start Apple CarPlay and launch maps. Find your end destination 2. Press the radio button on the side of the screen and tune to the station that you want 3. Hop back into CarPlay and they should both be running
@@CarsWithSteve Thanks Steve. See the attached picture. I only want the radio and Apple Maps to show, not Apple CarPlay. Is this possible? Thanks for your help.

Using Android Auto, how do you split screen to show both Google Maps and whatever radio/XM station you are playing? Can't for the life of me figure it out.
Haha it's such a weird process. 1. Launch Android Auto and pull up Google Maps. 2. Press the Radio button on the side of the screen and select the station you want to listen to 3. Launch back into Android Auto That should have Google maps up while the radio is running!

Hi, I have Hyundai Hybrid 2023, radio stops completely if Android Car navigation is on display. Is there any setting should be changed to have navigation and radio audio?
Hey Lazar! Yes there's a way to fix.. 1. Launch into Android Auto nav (happens in CarPlay too) 2. Then press the media hard button on the side of the screen and pull up the audio source/channel you want to listen to 3. Launch back into Android Auto or CarPlay and into navigation. Hi, I have a 2022 Tucson. Is there a way to use Waze navigation in Android Auto and also be able to listen to music (either through another AA app or the car's XM. or radio)? I can't get it to work for me. One will cancel the other. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong? Just want to listen to music while using the Waze in Android Auto, which seems like a basic thing to do. Thanks for the great, informative video.
Hey Tony! Yes there is.. it's a weird way to do it though 1. Launch into CarPlay or AA and open your map application 2. Press the "Radio" hot key button on the outside of the media screen 3. Tune to the station you want 4. Launch back into CarPlay or AA
Sweet! Nicely done @Cars With Steve. I see below there are some differences between the 10.25" and the 8". Can you please confirm that the 10.25" does indeed have wireless Android Auto? Thanks again.
Connecting to wireless Android Auto is going to depend on the screen that you have. As long as you have Android Auto installed on your phone, connecting it to bluetooth and then if you have wireless it will prompt you automatically. If that prompt doesn't come up then you only have the option for a wired connection
We're picking up our Hybrid SEL Convenience car tomorrow but I'm already shocked to find out that it doesn't have navigation! EVERY car we've owned since 2011 has nav! Am I correct in assuming that if I somehow manage to use AppleMaps via Apple CarPlay but then want to use my paired phone as a phone I can't have AppleMaps up on the screen? And that Siri won't work? What's this about having to disconnect and then reconnect CarPlay every time we re-start the car? My husband (who will be driving this car, as I have my own) has never learned to use a nav system but says he'll be fine as long as there's the onscreen compass--but does the SEL even HAVE a compass? Since there's no CD player nor Aux-In jack, if we plug a portable USB CD player into the USB data port do we have to sacrifice Bluetooth? You talked so fast that old farts like us (71 & 72) can barely keep up! Between all this and the fact that we had to order an aftermarket spare tire (the "Mobility Kit" sealant is useless on the kind of flat tires we get from Chicago potholes), we're having SERIOUS buyers' remorse. HELP!!!!
No need for the buyers remorse, there are still a ton of great things you can do with the ride! You're right.. Apple maps, Google Maps and Waze can all be used through the media screen since yours won't have factory navigation. When Apple CarPlay is connected you can make phone calls while maps are still up. There's a voice command button on the steering wheel, where if you press and hold it will activate Siri for you to say "call John, call bob etc" or you can switch out of the map, select your phone through CarPlay and then select the contact to call I don't believe the Tucson has an on screen compass unfortunately. If you're connecting a USB device you can still use bluetooth so you'd be able to have your phone connected while listening to a CD/MP3 player over USB. For the video speed, try changing the playback speed to 0.75x instead. It'll slow things down and make it easier to follow!
