I love how many people were scared of "E"s at the end of words and just gave "violin" an "E" just because.
its like me trying to spell french words lmao
@@MoistYoghurt lmao true, also nice pfp ;)
I hope he told them violin with an E at the end would change the sound of the i so it would sound like line
The Bonus "E".
It's because in Japanese, every sound is written with 1 letter or 2 letters.
There is never a word in Japanese where "book" is read as one word, they have to convert that to "bokku" in Japanese going by their languange rule.
Even violin to them is read as ba-i-o-rin (not with L or V). Coz some english letters dont exist in jp.
the girl who studied in paris and switzerland had a really good american accent! her english was super good
Hmmm maybe he had american friend studied there
Yeah i noticed her accent too lol
Yes but I wonder why she couldn’t spell simple words though she has a good accent
Might be she's just tourist and she looks like Chinese
It's most likely because speaking, reading, and writing and quite different. There's plenty of people who can speak or understand languages without knowing how to read or write them
Those 3 dudes are adorable AF. I love how they collectively lost brain cells trying to pronounce 'Rhythm'!!!🤣😂
Even though she didn’t win the money, the girl by herself had the best accent out of all of them! She must have worked really hard to achieve that, it’s really impressive!
Why is an American accent seen as important?
@@Britt-r3r it’s only important as the one she obviously studied. By best accent I meant that she had the least trace of her original language (Japanese) present while speaking English. If she had had a British or Australian accent or any other major English speaking accent, I would have still given her the compliment. 🙄 No one else cares that hers happened to be American.
@@Britt-r3r is it seen like that? I just thought the person was just complimenting her.
@@SolHati0828 it was just because he said best accent not best American accent ( because we all have accents ) and also I like hearing people's accents when they speak English.
@@Britt-r3r she was talking about their accent, the people they interviewed, not accent in general.
bro won the looks genetic lottery with his Japanese/Korean/Russian mix
for real
fr
Korean and Russian combined is a good mix... And he has Japanese blood as well? How lucky can he be damn. Must be popular growing up...
Yet he looks like a full Japanese person. Guessing the Russian part is very minimal
1:18 GG bro actually looks kinda cute ngl
Having learned a bit of Japanese I completely understand where their thought processes are with how words are spelt. The jump from Japanese to English and vice versa is quite different and difficult
It's a common issue when you try to use your native language to try to bridge the gap between languages. When studying languages it's better to work from a blank slate as much as possible. The moment you think "this is similar to that from my language" you are screwed.
@@CottidaeSEA That’s something I had to do when I began learning Japanese. I had to break that habit because the second I tried to compare it to English I would make common mistakes all the time, especially when working with a different sentence structure. We ended up basically starting from square one with elementary Japanese learning hiragana first and then working on word order and breaking the habits ingrained from English. I’m still considered a beginner in Japanese but I’m trying to get better with it.
Yeah especially with how they pronounce some words. Its different from english. Like they say “shrimp” like “shurimpu” so ofc they would have trouble
the problem builds up at phonetics as japanese have simple syllables which make them think that it might* be this etc etc
@@NeetuSingh_7 That is one of the reasons why I believe it is important to properly teach phonetics in school. I can read phonetics and understand how to say a word, regardless of language. Because phonetics are universal.
This was so fun to watch. My favorite was the "we're dead bro" at 3:27 and then 6:41 with "**** that was embarrassing" LOL
the subtitles arent exact translations but they definitely add to the humour lol
To be fair, I'm a native English speaker and I often misspell rhythm and diarrhea
Do part 3 these are great! Also next time bring a marker and whiteboard so they can test their writing too!
I love how he scares them all with "final answer?"
I just started teaching English in Japan a few months ago. I loved this video! It's not even a patch on what I come across in the classroom. Sometimes I literally have no idea what kids are writing. The struggle is real (for them and myself)
The 3 guys were so funny it's adorable. Please do more of this. I enjoyed it so much! ☺️🤍
The basketball skills at the end though were impressive, and random? とても面白いww ♡
”I'm just a little confident"
*Proceeds to speak with a perfect American accent*
We appreciate these street interviews. The people you meet just have interesting insights to share.
Wow the girl with the grey coat is really pretty, she looks like an idol. Also I really enjoyed the video, keep up with the amazing content!
I had to google how much 1,000 yen was in US dollars. That was way too hard for $7! 🤣
Way too hard for about £5! 😂
This was fun! Thanks for making these! It also helps me to better appreciate English language learners’ struggles; I can see how it would be challenging. My suggestions for other words are subpoena, beautiful, vague, or daiquiri…hopefully they aren’t too mean lol.
Subpoena and Daiquiri are the meanest words I've ever seen 😭
The woman at 7:22 (and earlier timestamps) has such amazing pronunciation of the English words. Very impressive, doesn't even sound like she's not English-native.
Yeah there’s no way she picked that up from living abroad. With an accent that native, she had to have grown up speaking.
I absolutely love these street interviews, they’re always so much fun to watch
6:50 "yabe dasse ore" i wasn't the only one who kept rewatching this right
8:07 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 OMG I LOVE HIM. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's understandable considering in Japan English isn't necessary to know and their alphabet is completely different to our latin one.
From watching your Tiktoks when you still lived in Canada to watching you here on UA-cam making really good content, I'm really glad you grown so much in such short little time😁🙏
try asking them to spell colonel lol
this is so entertaining to watch,😂
If you close your eyes, it sounds like a really bad anime episode.
This was cool. That last one was always going to be hard given the whole r/l situation with Japanese (which I am required to say does NOT exist in Chinese or Korean). Still this was fun, and that girl sounded hella fluent.
Amazing video!!
I'm going to Tokyo this week, let's collab on something :D
Loved this content. Do more coz its very entertaining.
I've been speaking English my whole damn life. It's my first language. Even if you hold a gun to my head I will NEVER be able to spell Rhythm correct on my first try LOL
THESE ARE HILIAROUS plz make more haha
as a native, i always spell rhythm wrong lmao
Same! That silly hidden H😅
Please dont ask them if its final answer, if they said it correctly, immediately say its correct, Or they might change their answer and they feel like very bad about themselves
I just watch you on "Oriental Pearl" and that video was so fun to watch. This video is fun too. I was in the Air Force stationed on Okinawa in 1985/86. I used to live in Indiana at Grissom AFB. As far as mix race goes, you have done well and fit in where ever you go. Great Japanese and your English is perfect. It was good to see you. You made my day.
where is that rooftop at 5:06?? looks pretty cool. also the girl in the back her dance moves. lol
Thank you for the video, I found out that investing is not for everybody, you just need a strong stomach too see your portfolio go down. It might be wiser for a novice to start with copy trading investing, but it is not easy. To invest in growth stocks it is another level, definitely you need to know what are you doing.
From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.
This is a phenomenal advice for a new stock traders and investors who want that quick short term game, but don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I've been solely investing in real estate. But with the recent hyper home pricing i've liquidated a few things and have $45k in cash laying around idle. Would love to get your recommendations, I'm in search of something lucrative in the current crazy markets, i will be glad.
@@katrinatyler675 My portfolio is very much diversified so it's not like i have a particular fund i invest in, plus i dont do that by myself. i follow the trades of Mrs Karen Gaye Gray.
She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.
There is no phonetic logic to english. If you don't know the word, this is about as possible as asking people semifluent in japanese what the kanji for some rnd words are hahaha
As I am trying to learn Korean in my vacations. So, I realized that they speak 'L' as 'R'. I think so that same goes for japanese as well
Lol this was awesome.. It’s my dream to visit Japan so it’s cool to watch these kinds of videos showing how the people are. Thanks for sharing. 💪🏽
Dude... I remember when a White American girl came back to school from summer break and was like, "how do you spell 'No' and 'Yes'?" At the time it angered me so much that I had to waste time in an ESL class just because I speak English as a second language. 🤦♀ With that said... I probably would have failed this challenge despite being born and raised in the US. 🤣 All of them did amazing while being put on the spot~ 👍
Some of us use these vids to practice Japanese comprehension :) thanks Jesse and team! Can someone explain to me why it sounds like he says “seikai desu” even for wrong answers? Either he is trolling them or I am not hearing the correct word? THANKS!
He's saying "fuseikai" (不正解) for the wrong answers, as opposed to "seikai" (正解). Fuseikai means incorrect as you might imagine.
@@soul133 THANKS!!
@@kavyarao2020 You put Fu for the opposite, just like "benri -> Fuben"
"Majime - Fumajime" etc
Oh thanks!!
Most American can’t spell these words
We need more of this! I like how they are so honest about their level of English. Dope video.
3:23 the most epic "yes" I have heard
dude I'm a native english speaker who's won a state spelling competition twice and I don't think I could spell diarrhea right on the first try out loud
even english speaking people fail to spell diarrhea lol
Yo can someone tell me what the Russian/Jap/Korean mix at 1:18 is wearing? I want that drip
Their accent is so similar to kenyan kikuyus😂😂
naur the lism threw me off coz it makes sense T-T i love this video
Love for level 3 he gives a word that fluent English speakers can't even spell😂
"I studied abroad"
"Really what country"
"Paris"
9:01 They wear the same pullover, right? 😂❤
make them spell island lmao
As one who uses British English, I write my diarrhea like diarrhoea
Im not British but Caribbean and always spelt it like this aswell 😭
@@ya_zi8658 the other one is American English and they are both correct
@@RoseBasemera yes in my country we use both American and British spelling
Now, using the same words, try this in America. I think you'll get similar results
Great video again
Even American will fail to spell English words by British...
It's not diarrhea but Diarrhoea
It's not Eggplant but Aubergine 😅
When I was a kid, I would always use rhythm as a hangman word, because nobody knows how to spell it.
'SHULIMP'
Yes, you are correct.
That is exactly what I am after hitting the bong three times.
Straight SHULIMP.
Really, for all that? You give the winner $6,77
Wait i thought you spell diarrhoea like this 🤯
im a native English speaker and i cant spell these liquid poopys really name
Na but I bet no one there would be able to spell “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.”
when u said Rhythm I immediately thought of Red Velvet's song :D xD
If you do a pt. 3 use the word yacht. It will mess everyone up. The silent c is the problem
This was so good. Being under pressure like this, I'd probably second guess myself too 😅
most Americans can’t spell pneumonia or diarrhea either
Lol I struggle to spell the word "diarreha" and I've always lived in the US
ngl the mixed guy was so handsome
i only know english, but i really like learning writing systems (i know 10-12 and i’m working on another) and honestly the more writing systems i learn the more i re-realize how stupid the roman alphabet is, especially english.
Just wondering, what is the difference between "Correct" and "incorrect" in Japanese?
I know 正解 is for correct answers, but what is the tone difference for both words?
不正解 incorrect, it has one more character than 正解 correct
正解→seikai
不正解→fuseikai
fuが聞き取れるかどうかです
I would have failed at 'violin' too because it's written 'Violine' in german. 😅
as always nice video
"This should be ez, i studied abroad", me: "Really? Must've been in Australia, Canada or the US..." Her: "Paris and Switzerland". 🤦🤦🤦
That mixed guy was so Handsome
Can you guys tell me what word in japanese he uses for wrong answer? It sounds pretty much the same as seikai for the right answer. I'm confused
As an English only speaker, I can’t spell the word diarrhoea at the drop of a hat. That words takes multiple attempts. 😅 There are also some words that need to be written down in order to be spelled correctly. 😂
Reckon half of English speakers wouldn't get 'rhythm'.
I’m English I didn’t look at the spelling of violin on the screen and I thought it was spelt like *violine*😂😂
Asking non English speakers to spell English words, English speakers can't spell is criminal 😂
English is my first language and I would have spelt diarrhea exactly like that too 😂💩
Makes no damn sense 😵💫
It's reminded me of "I have a bad case of diarrhea song" 😂
in 5:17 i only noticed that girls are dancing?
Diarrhoea / diarrhea its both correct
The guy from Florida is hella cute
What is that guy on the skateboard looking at 😭 surprised me cause he's just standing there on the edge of the ledge with his skateboard
man that guy with the black jacket that won with his friend at the end looks really handsome, wonder if he has IG
1:25 Korean and Lotion
so fun.. more of this pls .. ^_^
Everyone at least had that one time where they had difficulty spelling out Diarrhea and i only got it correct becuz of this vid
Sadly, I don't think a lot of young Americans nowadays can even spell some of those words lol.
女の子2人組は実は結構いい線いってますよね。
Being native in english, I have ALWAYS struggled with spelling "rhythm" and "rhyme". I always want to but a random 'e' in rhythm and a random 't' in rhyme...
I even struggled spelling those while commenting this omg x'D
They are spelling so nicely 🥺❤️ they all are very nice ❤❤❤❤
the three dudes are hilarious loll
That girls accent is incredible, weird where she studied but as a British person it's obvious she has a clear defined American accent. If she spoke to me in English I wouldn't be able to work out she was actually a native Japanese person.
who keeps teaching these poor japanese people things like the letter r being pronounced "ar-e-yuh"??? like there is no "u" sound in trying to say the name of the letter "r". they add syllables for no reason and its widespread like they were TAUGHT wrong, i dont understand, maybe someone else knows whats going on?
just noticed another one. when pronouncing the letter "L", they say "ell-uwh" or something, once again there is no "u" sound when pronouncing the name of the letter "L"
Bro ill be honest, i dont know if id be able to spell juice on the spot
a lot of native english speakers still can't spell rhthym 😆
