Franken "Sets the Record Straight" Over Cruz Comments During Sessions Hearing

- During a Judiciary Committee hearing on Sen. Jeff Session's nomination t be Attorney General, Sen Al Franken spoke about Sen. Ted Cruz had portrayed him during a meeting he did not attend.
"Sen. Cruz misrepresented what happened. So I would like to take this opportunity to set the record straight," Franken said.
Committee Chair Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn objected and tried to stop Franken from speaking several times.
"The senator apparently can't get the message from the chairman," Cornyn said.
"I think the senator from Texas doesn't get the message from the chairman," Franken replied.
Cruz eventually showed up and the committee voted along party lines to advance Sessions' as attorney general to the full Senate floor.
I never used to watch this stuff before trump. now I can't get enough. it's awesome to see America's representatives...and the actions or lack thereof!

Franken then beat Democracy to death by appointing Hillary Clinton winner of the 2016 Minnesota Democratic primary with his "super delegate" vote.

for explanation: as a German I since a few months follow the politics in the US. Honestly: I am shocked about how openly politicians act in favour of their donor and not even try to hide it. Not only Reps, but also Dems. I would understand all the anger of people voting for Trump, it it would not be for the person of Trump. One has to be blind or totally lack of any judgement, voting for this person.

Transparency should be the rule of law based on the rule of ethics. If we can not rely on officials to be transparent than they should be fired. Why is this so difficult to get accross? Why is it so common for us to accept being lied to? Government isn't even the only seat of power, so if we can't get a handle on that than where are we as a common? Rule of power based on Ethics is the most basic democratic ideal!

OK, so you listened to an excerpt of the hearings that was to elevate Sen Jeff Sessions (R-AL) from the Senate to the position of Attorney General (head of the US Federal Justice Department). He was made Attorney General soon after the Inauguration of Trump as President. The inauguration was January 20th 2017. So I would guess that the hearing is sometime early February.
Sessions was later pressured to recuse from the adjudication into the Russian influence (or otherwise) and as a result appoint Robert Mueller to investigate.He had to recuse because he was found to have lied about meeting Russians during the 2016 Presidential Campaign.
Franken thorough, meticulous and detailed. I wouldn't want to have him opposing me. A franken presidential candidacy would go the same way as Sanders sadly though.

I thought under Article 1 section 6 clause 2, Sessions wouldn't be allowed to be appointed to Civil office until the term he was elected for in Congress expired, and he cannot resign to take civil office.
