Most unrealistic part of this episode is that the writers thought a teacher could afford $1000 for a lunch date
For real!!!!🤣🤣🤣
That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe his wife had a large life insurance policy.
Actually
$1,050.00
but who is counting?
That’s his 2-week paycheck. And he works at a private school, so maybe he earns even less.
Maybe he has invested well or has inheritance...you folks need to think out of the box, life is not black or white.
Kim was so wise to not be part of this embarrassing spectacle.
Lmao
No, the pain we feel is not a result of Big’s death. It is just excruciatingly painful to have witnessed this series go from witty and entertaining to cringeworthy and stupid. It was so painful to watch that I turned it off about 25 minutes into the FIRST episode. It all starts with the writing, which is atrocious. Think of all the potentially great projects that weren’t given the green light in favor of this crap!
So stop watching. You sound masochistic. You have more that one streaming service...correct? These "And Just Like That" posts are filled with Kvetch Queens! Kvetch, kvetch, kvetch...🤔🤔🤔
@@bmccarthy3333 That’s the whole point. I did stop watching 25 minutes into the first episode! And just like that, because this series is such an insult to the audience’s intelligence, the kvetching began!
AMEN!!!!! WELL SAID!!!!! 💯 Julie B
@@julieb750 And Just like that...you cant stop obsessing over it!!! 🤪🤪🤪
@@julieb750 Hahaha!
25 minutes of the first episode and it's over for you. So you will have spent more time saying you hated it than watching the show. Good job! Well for me, I'm in the 7th and I can tell you that my intelligence as a spectator is not at all offended. On the contrary, the more I watch, the more I appreciate. It's like many things in life, sometimes it takes a little time. But sometimes also some people prefer what they already know.
Sending Carrie out on a date as a recent widow?!? 😢 "Fun to feel pain?!?" WTF - 😰
Agreed...it's weird.
„Fun to feel pain if it’s not yours“ - yes. I found that incredibly questionable too.
As a widow, it's absurd. So many widow groups feel their portrayal is asinine and insulting, and certainly not realistic.
So strange isn’t it....
Very fun to feel fictional pain lol
Me at first: so sad that they killed Big.
Me now: Kill them all, just not to make any more reboots
🤣🤣🤣🤣 so true
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😅😅
bwahahahaaaaaaa!!!
Heard it in my head.

Why oh WHY bring it back just to destroy it!! WHY!!!!!!??
I have been asking the same question. Why?.
@@patriciaz6937 The show was so ground breaking and took issues never discussed before to mainstream, sad what they’ve done with it. 😩
@Cuntina
Exactly. The writing is so bad, that you can see black people as props in the show. Straight men targeted, gay men as narcissists ( there I go to Japan and do not care what or who I left behind)…and whatever Che represents, is unbearable.
vanity
Kim , you made a good decision
I haven't seen the show yet, but the continual repetition of its name is already getting annoying. And just stop that.
@@trevortaylor4554 good point. And good choice for not watching. It sucks!
Agreed 👍
This is the biggest let down EVERRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
There's something really incongruous about the fact that carrie is allegedly so famous a writer that oprah endorse her, and yet at the charity auction she gets crickets as if she a nobody.
Had the same question
I was thinking that the editor lady was lying and just saying that oprah was interested to make Carrie publish it.
Not everyone in the room may be readers and those who are may not be into Carrie's genre of relationship writing. I don't read books about relationships, and her previous books and column were geared to singles not long married folks with kids. Makes perfect sense.
Exactly
@@bmccarthy3333 yeah..but everyone knows Oprah. And if Oprah talks about you then people know you. That was his point.
I can’t believe the editor said that. During a pandemic he wants everybody to feel pain like we haven’t felt enough pain these past two years this man is fucked up
My of my I really miss Carrie's voiceover. Now they have replaced quick and witty narrating for awkward and weird music that makes it feel like a show with no budget. Carrie narrating the story of the four women in every episode created a nice rhythm of the old episodes and the manuscript felt alive. Please please please make a "and just like that, I started to write and narrate the show again" to happen!
Agree
They had to make it different
You mean: they had to make it suck ??
@@claireutrecht2958 Haha, exactly!
@@gilabsolute1353 I wish they would add in the final episode to this season that they were f****** with us and it was a joke.
Then season 2 come back with the original writers and make the characters who we actually know.
We’re going to need drinks…what many fans said while watching the first episode.
Exactly!!!!!
In what world does a teacher have the kind of income that he’d attend a big NYC benefit AND bid a week’s salary in an auction?
The same world in which a newspaper columnist lives in a brownstone apartment and dresses in Prada and Dolce & Gabbana....that worked for seven seasons.
It was a benefit for the school where Charlotte's children go. That's not a big NYC benefit.
Exactly. For these school benefits, the parents donate extra money to cover the cost of the tickets for teachers. Teachers in NYC private schools get paid next to nothing. Public school teachers make a much better living. That is why the teachers at private schools are either very young and just trying this teaching thing out until they really get to what they want or if they are older, they are usually trust fund babies who love teaching, but their wealthy parents or inheritance really pay the bills. So yes, it is totally unrealistic for a teacher to make that type of bid. Then again, Carrie, as a print journalist in the first series, never would have been able to afford any of the things she wore or the apartment in which she lived. Unless, of course, she was the scion of a rich family or had a rich boyfriend. The thing about writing is that you can have some unrealistic situations in the script but most of it must be believable and ring true. Unfortunately, too many magical thinking moments are the least of this reboot’s problems.
@@jm7804 facts! 🤣🤣🤣
If they save they have money he’s old he’s probably been a teacher for years also his wife died probably left him money
Kristin Davis is acting like she’s in infomercials! So robotic! And writing is sh*t. All of the characters are sooo different from what they were in the series. It’s so hard to relate to them and their lives as well. What a disaster! And we’re not sad about Carrie, we’re sad ‘cause they destroyed such a great tv show.
Yes
They should've just started with all new characters because this is an entirely different show!
Ridiculous..and dating after big is barely cold in the ground..
@@LMarie-mv8fu Its been at least a year! Watch the opening with Carrie at her apt window Episode 7. Many seasons pass...Fall, winter, spring, summer and so on- you can notice this by the weather changing, snow, falling leaves, new flowers. So Carrie waits at least a year to date and during that time also has major surgery and physical rehab. Its important to be an observant viewer- unless you need a booming voiceover..stating "ONE YEAR LATER!" Maybe you are too busy finding fault to notice. Believe me, Big is very cold...the worms have entered. Though you got that wrong too as...HE WAS CREMATED! JEEZE!
@@bmccarthy3333 you are correct..I did watch..just cant imagine her with anyone but Big..but the new guy is a hottie..let's see where it goes..lol..thanks for the reply
WHY!?! First Samantha is gone, the Big dies and now Miranda leaves Steve... What next, Charlotte kills Harry?
Her editor should send her to the fashion police not a date
She looked like a low budget clown. Power suit my ass.
5:00 Michael Patrick it doesn't mean that people care when we are upset. We are upset that he makes assumptions about how 50s women are constantly depressed. And how satc was fun and funny and uplifting. And now that SJP is more involved, it is just the "kind of stories" that are just sad and seems like they are only complaining and sarcastic. And how miranda cheats and somehow doesn't consider it cheating because of her emotional dissatisfaction. And Carrie is now unrelatable bcz not only is she depressing, her hemlines are grandma''s 1800s style and on top of that she is suddenly rich in NYC with tons of housing options. Tons of the satc audiemce hate this show. They didn't make it for Satc fans. Okay. So That's why we are upset, not bcz we care
Weirdest part of this storyline was that the date was considered such a "nightmare" that Carrie needed to avoid him. Yeah he threw up but so did she and they clearly vibed enough to get that drunk together. Very contrived for her to be hiding from him like he has the plague.
Yes! I didn't get that either. The writing! Argh!
I'm sorry but SJP looks extremely sleep deprived and just overall pretty terrible.
I really think if they stopped sticking her hair back in a Granny bun or parted down the middle looking like an 80s thrash metal front man it would help.
They need to cut her hair to the length it was in the last season. It would really take some years off.
Like death warmed over!! Move on with the hair style already and cut the dated ugly ass hats.
Exactly
Oh! But the look that’s so horrible are the cheap, fake-looking wigs forced on Cynthia Nixon! I’m embarrassed for her!
Puking- is the only possible reaction to this reboot. Such a disappointment 😒

She’s got beautiful hair I don’t understand the constant slick back bun
She looks so haggard and old

I loved SATC so much, but THIS is so disgusting! I am very disappointed. It was a bad idea to make a reunion. WTF is wrong with this scenario? Who is writing this shit? Very pity.
Almost the same writers that wrote Sex and the City
@@iris089 no listen to the writers room podcast, they’re all new except Michael Patrick King, which is why the new direction I guess

@@iris089 look I am all for diversity and inclusion but spelling it out for us and making Miranda a Karen doesn’t work for me, having friends everywhere in NYC this was just poorly written, give me depth, funk and heart felt moments, they should have hired writers from Insecure and Pose, both great written shows and I am positive we would get great characters and great representation, that’s just my opinion, I like Naya, I like LTW and even Che lol who gets a lot of flack and memes but most of the writing is cringe for them, just my 2 cents
Poorly written. The woke agenda is so forced, that everybody seem to be a bad actor/actress.
…or the writers adore Kim Catrall.
One of those.
Mr Big isn't even cold in his grave & she's already dating...wow she clearly really loved him. 🤣
a narcissist must always have the spotlight on them.
She is more forced into dating by her editor. Gotta still make them money. Honeslty, this time around i think her editor is really the insestive bitch here, for even suggesting it-like, read the room. Carrie is clearly not comfortable with the idea, seems to me like peer pressure.
The worst thing you can do is allow strangers and friends/family to tell you to go back into the dating pool when you’re not ready! Never allow people to do that to you! If they are truelly there for you, they would want you to heal fully and allow themselves to say “I’m ready to date again”! When you’re ready, you’re not listening to your friends, you’re listening to yourself! You know yourself better than anyone else!

I miss the old shows! I'm so glad i didn't waste my money on HBO MAX to watch this
Her husband literally JUST died! Im done.
I miss Samantha. She was the cherry on top 💖 this reboot is a no go. I stopped watching after episode 2
I'm trying to dissect what's going so wrong with this. Let's start with the title, no one can remember it, we're constantly paraphrasing it. But I bet no one got "Sex & the City" wrong. I'm not trying to be nasty. I used to be in the industry and I'm flabbergasted as to how bringing these talented people together could create something I'm cringing at. I think the fact they're all rich doesn't make the character's as a collective relatable or the show. Carrie complaining about that gorgeous new apartment sounded entitled and it just doesn't sit well with me. The solution to immediately resell it involves a great loss financially. Are they thinking everyone who watched the original is as affluent as they have become? Remember Carrie used to own more shoes than home. Charlotte is a caricature of some type of woman I've never met thank God. She wasn't so exaggerated and fictional in the original. What's with the constant fake perma grin? Everyone she engages with seems to mirror her smackting. The attempt at current sensitive topics is excruciating. Where are the original writers? Who's directing this and watching the daily's and thinking that's a rap we nailed it?
Yes, and it doesn't help when it's all about Carrie grieving the whole time. Strange way to try and bring a series back. The character who was always the most fun is gone and now it's all about death?.
Atleast watch episode 3 it was ok
It was never a reboot. They never called it that. So much has changed since original series and movies.
then do not watch…who cares? you are nobody.
How was that disastrous?! It looks like they had a great time! And they both got sick, so now no one has to feel uncomfortable or awkward.
And he is not bad looking for his age
The date was a disaster in HER view, the show is from HER POV, not yours. Don't decide how others should feel. If Carrie eats a salad and does not care for it, it is HER opinion that counts unless you are a newly written character in the story. Are you? Okay, Kvetch Queen?
@@bmccarthy3333 I think that’s going pretty hard at someone for having an opinion. I agree that it didn’t seem like that bad of a date. It is embarrassing to be sick but it also is something to bond over and it looks like she’s coming around to it being a bonding experience.
Completely agree that any first date after death is going to be disastrous and most likely not someone to keep around but two people having a dinner after deaths of spouses and getting sick on each other could help ease that tension. But also just bear in mind you are commenting on someone’s opinion on a TV show and there is no need to go after them
@@kronut7806 I have no problem with folks having an opinion and you stated how you feel very well and kindly. Its justs that many here hate the entire show, they think they lost their
"friends" and are angry that the show has changed in big ways, so they come to bash every eye blink. They complain about the writing even though most have never written and/or published anything. Writing is hard work. You are correct, imo about the first date. It was not a disaster, but in the mind of a grieving person it was. Grief makes the tiniest upset huge. I think Carrie is coming around, and that was smart writing- she needs to ease her mind and heart into a relationship not jump in. I think the writers are doing the same with character Che, she comes off brash and loud but there is a vulnerable side- that's why they wrote in the diverticulitis. The writers are smart, but cant be perfect. If a person does not like the show...don't watch and post just to put it down because its not living up to YOUR expectations. Anyway, lovely talking to you! ❣️A very nice conversation!
@@kronut7806 you are exactly right. That weird troll has come after everyone on here who has an opinion different than hers. She is just embarrassing herself. She is obsessed with the word "kvetch" she is so strange. Thank you for saying what you did.
The show I enjoyed was about 4 single young women and their dating hits and misses. I don't give a crap about them as old ladies. Would have been more interested to watch Carrie and Big, Miranda and Steve, Charlotte and Harry having a wonderful life. First Big DIES, and now she's dating??? Give it up - the SITC ship has sailed.
WOW 😮 so the writers are just skipping the MOURNING stage & straight to DATING…WTF??!!!!
Some people are different and mourn differently. I know a lot of people who started dating right after their partner passed. You can’t judge people. When my boyfriend died I honestly just wanted to start going out and talking to guys just to distract myself from all the pain.
There’s six episodes between the time he died and the time she goes on a date, and it’s implied that several months pass during that time.
Yes, I think it's been almost a year since Big passed.
Odd...yes

Why are they dressing Carrie up like a hagardly librarian vs wizard of OZ "Wicked Witch of the West".?
They have her once beautiful hair, which was her best asset pulled back so tight her eyes are squinting 😆
Are they trying to pull up her sad face.?
I am the same age with no problem aging but this is just cruel. They haven't even attempted to make her look soft, pretty, attractive. And she can even in her 50s. She looks like she needs a rocking chair and some knitting needs.... And put a little bit of lip stick on that spray tanned face. She just looks sad and pissed off all of the time.
The natural progression would have been her attending a grief group. It would be a better option for the fictional book written by a fictional character for fictional readers.
Carrie needs a new editor.
So far the series is really disappointing. The direction of the characters is crappy and I’m kinda like meh.

It's too soon for dating. Big just died in episode 1. What about grieving? 😭

I haven't actually watched the show but I assume it hasn't been that long in the storyline since Big died before she went out on the date. I can't judge with how people process grief because it's so personal and everyone has their own way of dealing with the emotions.
For Carrie to do this because her readers would think the book would be "too sad"...it's grief. Do you really think it's comforting? But again to each their own and Carrie went along with it. Not sure what to think about that.
Think 💰💰💰. That is it for Carrie.
King is trying to hard to minimize the fact that this revival opf satc is a total disaster. Well yes, King it is fun to feel sad because you are haemorrhaging more money than you are producing because it is not real, oops my bad, it is real and the c0-producers are not going enjoy the fact that this is a complete and utter flop and that on top of a disastrous scenario and script, you also lost the most important character of SATC Sam and even trying to replace her with Seem is not gonna work.
It is fun to know that Kim must be laughing her ass out right now, knowing she saved herself from a disastrous new series and that it is going to destroy SJP career and what was left of Cynthia's and Kristin. Yes that's super fun, and that's super real.
No king don't pretend to kid yourself by trying to kid us. 90% of all reviews on the reboot say that this is an utter disaster and there won't be another season, you know it, because nobody will back you up. You can really try to laugh it up when the camera is on but we all know you are so pissed right now.
You have LGBT groups against you for trying to hard, you have BLM groups against you for trying too hard and failing, you have woke people against you for portraying them as yapping little privileged brats (and you have the entire anti-woke movement against you). And none of this is fiction sadly for you, this is all real. You are the biggest TV flop in recent year and you have destroyed the lkegacy of SATC.
All i can say is that Kim must be laughing so hard right now !
I'm in my 70's and this crew acts older than me - pathetic how these writers present women in their 50's. Come on - this reboot needs to be booted right into the trash can.
I don't know, I tried to watch the reboot but I didn't finish the series. Reboots are difficult to create and even harder to recreate an interested audience.
Wow I like him a loooooot lol I hope he is actually a good guy like Aiden!
Will he be dumped like Aiden too?
@@Lecintel I think she'll dump him for Aiden.
@@Lecintel lol I sure hope not! Hopefully he won't have a dog haha or make her quit smoking if she still does lol
@@anaa9088 omg if Aiden comes back I hope so..... i just love Aiden so much hahahaha
Well thats just stupid
I was planning on getting HBO to see this but from what I understand, it is so bad..I'll pass.
Good decision.
