The point of this song stems from Tech being dismissed by much of the black community early in his career bc he wore scary face paint, had long red spikes in his hair, heavily rock influenced beats and had some very dark imagery in his music that lead some people to assume he was a satanist without actually listen to what he was saying. The white folks didn't seem to mind or included it as a rock culture thing which they were more widely familiar and comfortable with than the black community. So Tech felt like he was having to crossover to the black community and as always found a very clever way to voice his frustration .
To add, he kinda cought it but to elaborate: the whole song is a metaphor about how black people hated how he use to be and the music he use to produce since he was an artist and did other stuff. Now that his people are listening, he's breaking in to their "houses"
The real funny part of this song is when Tech N9ne asked T-Pain for the hook he asked for something a bit more...low-key. T-Pain gave him this which was so outside the box. It's funny hearing Tech explain it. Good reaction.
For any tech dive..."this ring" is a must. It sets the standard for what he can do. Id suggest the live version with lyrics pulled up as needed. Or start with the live version and break down the lyric video. Great reactions!
This ring Red Nose Who do I catch now Fragile World Wide Choppers K.O.D. All really good reaction picks for tech. This list will give you a good idea of what tech has been through in his career and what he is well know for as far has his unique rap style.
The metaphor you're referring to and the whole theme of this song is that he's finally growing his black fanbase. Tech was shunned for years by black fans of music because his appearance and aggressive lyrics were so far removed from the stereotypical mainstream hip hop artist and they just weren't comfortable with it. He was propped up and adored by Juggalos for over a decade, who were extremely comfortable with dark lyrics and outrageous appearances. He voiced a similar theme in Message to the Black Man on Misery Loves Kompany. Anyways, suggestions.... I'll give you a few hidden gems and a few more well known songs. Old school N9na: This Ring: A must listen to for any aspiring tech fan. Grab the lyrics first and then watch him do it live. It's a heavy song from a theme point of view as well as a technical delivery point of view. If you only react to one more T9 song, it needs to be this one. Worst Enemy: Dont think I've seen anyone review this one, has a big twist at the end that will make you relisten to the song when you find out who he's talking about. Slither and T9X: Raunchy story telling Tech in his prime. Breathe: A really different style for Tech. He's really soft spoken, rapping double time in almost a whisper over a high hat type beat. New Tech (2006+): I'll just give you one an album so you get a peek into his evolution. The thing a lot of people don't understand nowadays about tpain is that he does not need autotune, he practically sounds the same with or without autotune
NPR little desk concert with T-Pain shows off his real voice and yeah 100% he can actually sing. And his album “rappa turnt saga” has some bangers before his autotune although does still include it

You're right about the auto tune situation. You have to be able to sing to use it correctly. It's not supposed to be used to correct someone that can't sing.
I'm very new to your channel and I love your reactions. I know this is an older video, so you probably won't see this, but you should check out This Is Me by Tech N9ne. It's off his Everready album. Keep up the hard work my dude!
For a long time black people were not Techs main fan base because he was accused of being a devil worshiper so this song is about him trying to get more fans from his own people

I call total bs. In his reaction to “like I ain’t” from tech he says the first time he heard tech was 18 years ago and that he even made caribou Lou’s which is a staple of tech n9ne… what’s the point of acting like you’ve never heard of a artist? He’s prolly heard all pacs shit too. Is anything real with this guy?
