  • This session was recorded at the UNEP FI Regional Roundtable North America in Toronto on 1 March 2023.
Banks can create a positive systemic impact on the global economy through their activities and are crucial to the transition towards net zero and sustainable economies. The finance sector is striving to align its strategies with both the sustainable development goals and the Paris Agreement, and to do this, they are developing or adopting tools, mechanisms, and frameworks such as the UN Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB). In this session, speakers discussed the importance of collaborative work, and how the PRB allows their organizations to understand and manage climate impacts, set science-based targets, and contribute to the advancement of issues like circularity, climate mitigation, and financial inclusion.

    - Yasmina Vucina Banjanin, Chief Sustainability Officer, SVP Strategic Partnerships, Areti Bank
    - Ivan Frishberg, Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer, Amalgamated Bank
