Saw him at Cheltenham Jazz Festival last night. What a wonderful band, and Hugh is such a charismatic performer. Smiled and smiled, throughout the evening, with my foot tapping. Came straight home and listened again on Radio 2, and ordered the CD. God, he's a sexy bit of stuff!!
My intrcduction to the wild wonderful world of blues and jazz was in retrospect innocous. My late beloved Mum had an album, Belefonte sings The Blues, I asked her how can you sing a colour? She played it and my heart exploded. I was 6 yrs old. Was 50 this year still love that mad crazy music, Ray Charles, Leadbelly, Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday. Love u allxx. Having seen this, I can say that this man has more talent in left index finger, than all the Biebers, Blacks and Nickelbacks in the world put together. What a legend!
Hugh was born in 1959 not 1952. He turns 53 June 11th. I would call him a brilliant actor but not a brilliant musician. He's a very good pianist though, and I love his passion for the music he plays. It's pretty obvious when he plays that he's really into it and it encompasses him. It's great to see that kind of passion on display.
