I love how you showed from 1977 up to 2000 Camaros and trans ams. That’s all I’ve driven since I was 15. I moved up to only corvettes from 2004 to present. ❤
😂 Lol, yep...Pontiac got its revenge on Chevy with the old Iron Duke after Chevy and GM conspired to abolish the vastly superior Pontiac V8 in the late '70s and force the division to use Chevy engines from that point on. 🤮 I actually remember that episode with the first TA. 😸👍
I actually owned one that looked exactly like this one. It was actually pretty peppy, not fast but had good excelleration. Then the oil pump went and the engine seized. 😆 that also happened quickly.
Gosh, loving these 1970s cars especially! Though the '74 Camaro LT is beautiful, I like Antria Ford even more! And Dennis James was a superb MC.....he seemed to have more genuine charisma than Bob Barker, and didn't treat the contestants with contempt. But perhaps even topping all of them was the late great Johnny Olson! He announces with true style, and always had a great sense of humor, especially participating with the models in the showcase. Although I am with James Garner and didn't care too much for the '79 Trans Am / Firebird facelift, the "That's Entertainment" salute to Sally Field showdown is classic!
Wow, that's an amazing collection of sports cars, who wouldn't mind having any of those, I did enjoy looking at those early Camaros, I didn't remember those from past shows but those were cool
I consider the second-generation (1970-'81) Camaro/Firebird to be the most beautiful design of the late '70's/early '80's. I mean, just look at those lines!!!!!!
As the owner of a 2019 Camaro SS 6 speed, and having loved the Camaro my whole life, it's so cool to see this video! What a lot of people my age and a little younger might not remember, is that where this video starts is right at the beginning of the Malaise era. Where muscle cars had been castrated from all serious performance due to emission and fuel economy regulations brought on by the EPA and CAFE standards of 1973. Before that, the Camaro could be an absolute beast if equipped with anything of the 350 engine or larger, and you could go all the way up to a 427. So we get to see the progression and resurgence of the Camaro after CAFE brought cars down to truly disappointing levels. By the time we get to that 1991 Z28 with the 350 at 10:50 performance had come back to pre-1973 levels due to multi-port fuel injection and much better computers that could help big, powerful engines produce horsepower while being much better on fuel and emissions. Technologies that were unheard of just a few years earlier. Today, my Camaro LT1 6.2 liter in another stratosphere performance wise but get 32 mpg on the highway at 70 with the cruise on and meets Low Emission Vehicle standards. All the while providing that sound, vibration, and performance of any of the best of the old school Camaros.
This is great! Glad to see you have Corvettes and Mustangs coming. Here are some other ideas I have: Ford Thunderbird/Mercury Cougar Geo (Metro, Prizm, Storm, Tracker) Eagle (Talon, Vision, Summit, etc.) Ford Escort/Mercury Tracer Ford Tempo/Mercury Topaz Saturn Some of these may be boring, but some people would feel nostalgia for these cars.
I considered a TBird/Cougar montage but they were pretty common during the 90s and I haven't had the wherewithal to save those episodes for easy compilation. The Escort/Tracer idea is almost unnecessary as they offered one in almost every episode during the 90s. Kind of a "filler" car for the show.
@@carsnstuff1344 Yeah the Escort/Tracer compilation probably isn’t worth, especially if you can find many full episodes posted with them. Same thing for Cavaliers and Neons I’m sure. Do you know if they ever offered Oldsmobiles on the show? I can’t recall any when I watched the show from the late 90s to early 2000s.
@@carexpertandy There were Oldsmobiles offered during the 90s. Just watched an ep earlier today that had an Olds Cutlass sedan (1998) but not too many. I recall seeing an Aurora offered in a showcase somewhere and they had a few Aleros and Intrigues.
Nobody could yell "A NEW CAAAAARRRRR" like Johnny Olson.
The 1st was the best
Rod Roddy came close.

Love seeing the 19 70's camero's and Trans Ams.
I grew up seeing these new driving around .Make more
The car prizes certainly seemed more impressive relative to nowadays. This gameshow's theme sounds very reminiscent to today's Family Feud
That’s because the _Feud_ theme started out as a car cue on _The Price is Right._
The 2 Camaro showcase cars are rare as hell being totally bare bone 4 cyl 4 speed manual, dog dish hubcaps.
That's for sure. Her showcase was $17,050, so each car was just $8,525.
Love the old dog dishes on muscle cars! They had such a cool vibe, and you NEVER see them on a 3rd gen or later F-body
@@joe6096 Me neither
Now I miss my '85 Trans Am
I own a 1977 camaro so it's really cool seeing how they had them on gameshows back then
That 2.5 Camaro with AC must have been a real powerhouse
😂😂😂

Real rocket ship.
Faster than a ZL1

I absolutely love Trans Ams so this was really awesome. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
I own an '88 IROC Z, I hope these ppl won those cars and got to see firsthand how fun these cars are to drive.
I would love to be a contestant and see pretty much any one of those cars behind those sliding walls today!

From the era of 8 Track tape players to CD changers with 12 disc magazines. 😎
Good thing the chick with the big hair wasn't too close to the flames! Gotta love the 90's!
The perfect contestant for that car!
gotta love that 3rd gen 4cyl with California emissions im suprised it can even move that heavy camaro
Lol, who ever said it could? 😸
I almost forgot that Dennis James hosted some TPIR Episodes back in the day!
The silver Trans Am isn't a V6.
I was sort of wondering about that, I didn't think they made Trans Ams back then with anything but a V-8 engine.
Ponch had a Trans Am Firebird on 'CHiPs' and I believe Jim Rockford had one on the 'Rockford Files'.
They messed up the Trans am never came with a 2.8 v6, the only V6 ever offered in the Trans am was the 3.8 Is turbo v6 in 1989
A new car !

Sounds gr8 to me, Njoy.
4:05 a 4 cylinder camaro makes an appearance!
Anytime a Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am shows up, I simply use Knight Rider's theme music on episodes from fall 1982-June 1986.

Awesome video
These are much better than winning Chevy Vegas.
I wonder how many of these CLASSICS are just rotting away in a junkyard now?
Camaro / SS/ Z28/ lroc-Firebird/ Trans Am timeless never go out of style 67and Beyond next is the Corvette
There was a episode where one of the gals was actually REVVING a Firebird. Do you happen to have that one?
They gave the STOCK equipped cars. The difficult 1s to sell @ dealerships.
What do you mean, stock? You mean base trim? I see Z28s & Trans Ams, which were both above the base Camaro & Firebird models.
Damn where is Pontiac today?🙁🙁🙁
In my garage
...and mine
3:38 Limited Slide Differential, lol
7:19. Someone messed up on engine. "2.8L". 🤣🤣
I miss the Trans Am. Espcially KITT.
Anybody hear the $2999? Showcase? That’s not enough for the car !
Any way you find a Black 1978 Trans Am?
Firebirds and Trans Ams won't be had new again
is it a clue that a person didn't win if you see the same car in the next clip? LOL!
In the case of the Gremlin they probably DID win it but refused to take it. 🤪
16:08 I can’t believe my new Chevy Colorado 4cylinder turbo has 310HP ,,,,,more than that corvette powered LS 305hp
DREAM CHELKKKJJR
LOL these wouldn't last a week with today's traffic bad gas octane crummy roads
?? There are MANY of these still on the road
Firebird the best
