- The Gentle Barn is a non profit animal sanctuary with locations in Los Angeles, CA, Nashville, TN, and St. Louis, MO. We rescue neglected and traumatized animals from all circumstances, we rehabilitate them, and when they're ready we partner with them to heal people with the same stories of trauma. We rescue cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, emus, llamas, donkeys, and more. Our mission is to show people the love and magic of animals by sharing their stories and how living a gentle life can help heal animals, humans, and the world.

I saw a show about orphaned elephants. They get tucked in and the humans sleep in their little pens with them. So sweet.
They need the comfort and support of a group, and usually they sleep together or close by so the people are trying to give them that which is great.
@offworlder1 the show I saw had them together during the day, walking to the water and back, being fed bottles together with a group of volunteers, seemed to be all men. At night, they had huts for then, and a volunteer would stay the night. But different people every night so they wouldn't get overly attached to a particular volunteer. Also, when they get older and go off with a herd, they had outpost huts so if the elephants needed help they would return. It was an impressive set up.

@offworlder1 I agree! And sometimes they grow up and bring their babies to meet the humans who took care of them.
@@lotstodo We have a complete datebase on animals who always come back and the babies who in turn bring their babies one day.
We just built some man made structures 10 years ago since they like the freedom to come and go.

Love it! Every night I have a routine with my horses. They get extra hay to munch throughout the night if they need a snack. Stalls are super clean too. I treat them to carrot sticks, sometimes warmed with a little sugar or apple slices. I also sing the same “sleepy time” song. What a wonderful way to end a busy day. Blessed ❤🐴🐴🐴❤❤
