This is one of those times in life where the word ugly needs to come first.
I love how transparent you are with your experience. I have had a few Gremlins with my Lightning over the last two years but still wouldn't trade the experience for anything, but I knew what I was getting myself in to being such an early customer. Doing a 2-year review soon and hope to be as authentic as you have been with how I talk about it.

Would you buy the lightning again? I was on the wait list, but ended up backing out in the dealership putting things together before the purchase. I have been on the wait list for the cyber truck for 2 years and I’m told I can get into one possibly fall or early 2025… I am going back and forth between looking at the lightning again or sticking with the cyber truck…I really love this channel, he’s honest and very descriptive in his videos. But he’s had a lot of issues and I’m being to get worried.. I don’t know what to do
@@halliwaxbasementbuilds I would absolutely buy the Lightning again. There are some 23' Lariat ERs going for $65k-$68k out there that are screaming deals. I would absolutely wait for the Cybertruck to come down under $80k personally. Both these trucks come with their share of early problems. My Lightning had a tail light and light bar replaced for water condensation, both running boards and my front door panels delaminated and had to be replaced, there was a wiper motor recall and I had a battery module failure before 10k miles. When you get the first year of any of these some gremlins will pop up but they are all under warranty and get resolved. In my case as an apology they gave me an extended warranty to 6yrs 70k miles from the 3yr 36k.
I've spent time in both and it just depends what you think will bring you joy to drive each day. Cybertruck is miles ahead in software and tech. That software will get meaningful updates and features for years to come. If you're perfectly happy with Apple Carplay or Android Auto and the lag and limits they bring this may not matter, but otherwise the Lightning will frustrate you. The Cybertruck design stands out and it's durable against life's little dings. It turns and handles better in parking lots, around town and on winding roads. The Lightning is smoother and quieter on the highway and has fewer rattles in general. It also has more leg room in the rear if that matters for how you use it. The front is very similar for leg room but the Lighting feels wider especially the seats and center console which if you're a fluffy fella like me makes a difference in comfort. Ergonomically it fits me and feels better and simple things like the under the arm window button placement and lack of homelink garage door buttons on the visor annoys me with the Cybertruck. In the Lightning ER, the sunroof opens and has a power shade which as a bald guy I find appealing lol. It has lots of affordable aftermarket accessories and repairs are much cheaper for things like a cracked front windshield or new tires for example. The Lightning has more outlets including the Frunk which is unmatched and truly amazing. The Cybertruck delivers more power from the 240v though at 50a instead of only 30a from the Lightning and it has the under bed storage that the Lightning lacks. The Lightning has a spare tire which was important to me but many don't care about.
All this to say that they are both special trucks and it really comes down to which features are most important to you. But vehicles aren't always as simple as a practical and logical decision. They speak to our soul and you should pick the one that will excite you and bring you more joy than the payment and depreciation brings anxiety haha. You're likely to be happy with the driving experience either way and likely to find some flaws either way.

It’s still in the shop. Fingers crossed that it’s fixed soon.

@@KobraToldYa yea that was bad. I think the worst part isn’t even losing power - it’s how the techs needed to McGyver their way in. Literally no back up plan. Ugh.

Just curious, with all the issues, are you close to the point of saying to Tesla “make it work properly and give me the foundation features I paid for (if you did) or just give me money back” or what not? If not, how many more issues would you need before getting to that point?
I really hate that a lot of Cybertruck owners seem to act like they paid the $100k just for the “privilege” of owning a Cybertruck while completely ignore that the $100k product they paid for is having constant issues and is still missing all the foundation features that they paid an extra $20k for!
I don’t mean to sound too down on it! If you are happy, I’m happy for you 😊 I just wanted to ask as you seem to have a more realistic view on the issues than most of the owners I have seen online 😊
I appreciate the review and your honesty with it. I am currently on the fence. The only thing holding me back is those gremlins. I hate taking cars to service centers (more when they are out of warranty!! Haha).

I love my CT. Unfortunately, my rear motor just failed and I took it into service today. Fingers crossed it is fixed soon. This thing drives amazing otherwise. Tesla needs to enable FSD on the CT.

Just got mine home last Sunday. I only had a couple minor cosmetic things. Passenger cantrail just slightly out in the back. Not super clear if thats adjustable and have not felt like trying to make a SC appointment about it yet. Waiting for something with more substance. Let me know what happens on the Software there. interesting.

Years ago was amped about the CT release, but now that it's out, just a giant rolling altoid box to me now.
Soft reset: press both buttons
Hard reset: remove 15v battery and disconnect red loop label and wait 5 minutes, then reconnect
Hopefully the service center can fix it by doing that.

4 times to the service department? Wayyy too many times, just wait for the next model that finally fixes all the issues.

I haven't seen a CT or a Tesla. I think they should have options on somethings. Steering wheels, a real root. Better rear view mirrors, stuff like that. And of course, range, they really need to improve the range. Finally, the price, I can't exactly justify the price, I make decent money, I don't have any rich relatives or friends, I have to pay the entire price (never going to happen) or finance, the beast (what I would need) would cost at a over a third as my house, my house is 171 years old, where will any CT be in a 171 years ?.
Using full self driving is putting "Skynet" in charge.

@@X862go yeah I got the notification and sat on it for a few weeks. The conversations about to do it or not - wish I recorded it all. All the planning and even adding for inflation really came down to if the AT Tires, PowerShare, and FSD/Accessories make sense. I so far am amazed with it. I know they’ll keep iterating and making it even better as time goes on. Thing feels like a rover from Lost in Space mixed with a X-Wing on the inside. And it turns/drives like a car. Such a blast to drive.

Weight of Cybertruck - 8,000 to 12,000. Not 6,000. Imagine if you hit someone? BIG OUCH. Takes longer to stop. Personally, if I see a Cybertruck, I get way out of it's way.
The manual shows 6634, 6669, 6863, and 6898 pounds for the currently available combos under "Curb Mass Total" in the manual on page 212
Cybertruck dual motor curb weight is 6,669 lbs.
Don't spread lies. It's the lightest among EV trucks and lighter than many ICE trucks that really are over 8000lbs.
