Please don't ever think your talking too much. Your a natural, you are also one of the most humble people I have seen in motorsport. It is very emotional to listen to you talk about Dalton, and I am so glad that you do. I hope you realise how much people think of you all around the world Clay. I hope 2021 is a great year for you & your family, all the best, Sydney, Australia.

I live about 65mi from Grand Bend in Ontario. I am a retired motor coach technician that followed more ovals than straight line. I have been to the Motorplex, but not that day. I recently found your channel and subbed immediately. I have been going through your older postings, and found this one. I found my eyes moisten as you told your story about your first NHRA win in Bristol. I cannot begin to understand what it meant to you that day in Bristol or means to you now. My only son moved to western Canada then to the UK and I miss him especially on Father’s Day, but at least I get to FaceTime him. Thank You for telling us this story, and many more in the future. Stay Safe. One of your ‘newest’ fans. Rick

Clay very cool Story. It just popped up after you latest video in St Louis. Cool story, extremely emotional. Unfortunately we share a similar story. Not my son but a good friend, I wrench for, lost his son 3 yrs ago to a horrible disease at 19. Tristen had a love for drag racing like none other. He started working at the track at 15 and spent every waking moment he could down there. At 17 he purchased a 1969 Nova he named Black Thunder. After he passed I talked his dad into running the car with a promise I would wrench on it for him and we could go have fun/learn together! A couple of rookies actually won a race in our first season and finished in the top 3 of a points series. Anyway I could drag on for days. Enjoy listening to your stories and have for a long time. Keep your head up sir, and stomp on that loud pedal!!

I'd say not making Shirley mad was a wise move 😂. I didn't know your first IHRA win was against Shirley. Too cool. What are the odds both your first wins were against female racers. And both are awesome drivers.
I was at my dad's house ,had his m recording the race as we were cooking shrimp outside. I had to keep checking the round wins , I can remember it like it was yesterday. Where I was standing , where Debbie was standing, I looked ,saw the W by your name and started hollering HE WON !!! CLAY WON !! I had tears immediately and then watching it oh heck Awesome. . Still cry every time I watch it. Had to wait a few for the coverage to catch up. Still my favorite win by any racer athlete competitor. Hope to see y'all in St Louis PowPow 25 #StompOnThatLoudPedal

Hi, Clay! Big longtime fan from Ontario. Fond memories of you at Grandbend. Highly doubt you’ll remember, but I built a lego model of your Warner Enterprise rail car, which you signed the rear back of the wing, and you took on the road in a clear display case for a few races! Unfortunately it broke on the road and I have never taken the time to rebuild it. I will try and get it re built and I’ll send a picture somehow! The connection was made through Shauna Fox... can’t quite recall the year. I was pretty young! All the best and drive safe!

I worked in fuel for a little bit, but mainly the top alcohol and promod stuff, but still. when I did get that dream call to go fuel racing as a crew member, I brought this first NHRA win up to the crew one night and they all said the same, so amazing and man oh man.. ❤🤘🏻🤘🏻 you rock my man!!

I was working the Top End at the Grand Bend Race. That was after the real bad Jet Car incident, that the driver lost his life. Just as the Top Fuel Final was coming up, the Ontario Provincial Police arrived on scene. He was ready to shut everything down due to the Jet Car deal.
Bill Bader was ready to step in & handle the Police. I had a bad feeling about Bill trying to handle this.
Anyone that had any dealings with Bill over the years, will understand where I was coming from. I stepped in & told Bill, "This ain't Ohio, let me talk to the cop & see if we can run the final. Tact & Diplomacy go a long way in these deals. I told the cop that we had 1 Final to run & then the track was his. Luckily he went along with it. He told me that, in no uncertain terms, that once the last 2 cars finished the race, that Track was his.
There is more to the story, regarding that Final & stick handling my way around dealing with Shirley at the Top End!
