Amit's view reg the offshore career, once you get a FG Master CoC, he cannot get accustomed to the offshore environment. he will have to join as a 2nd officer (junior) and get DP license. Earn all the offshore experience and get promoted as CO and then as Master it might take another 10 years. Which FG Master would agree to join as 2nd Off on a PSV or AHTS?. If anyone is really interested and willing to shift to offshore, The best is to join when you are a junior officer and with the seatime, give exams in UK, Australia or Singapore to get FG license.

At a given moment, children might outgrow their parents. At that point the child (you) will see how much their parents (your dad) have a fixed-mindset. It will be extremely difficult to convince someone with a fixed-mindset. But keep trying or just follow your own path.
