      I think it’s pretty good and in-depth, what I would personally be interested in is seeing how the comparison would scale if bf4 was added into the mix. I don’t know if you play bf4 but I think it would be a good way of building on the argument and comparing how the perception of what counts as skill based gameplay has changed

    This was excellent, I always felt I had some grasp over each and how they worked but this breakdown really helped me understand the gunplay in each. BF1 more so in particular. Personally I enjoyed BFV’s the most when the pacific launched, but since then, even with the partial revert of the TTK it just isn’t quite the same. I think both game’s gunplay systems have merit, here’s hoping whatever they give us in BF6 builds on those merits

      i do like aspects of each, but each also has aspects I really hate. In BF1 i detest the way they implemented suppression, I don't think your spread should increase because some random player shoots close to you. You should have some kind of suppressive effect on your screen, but it should not affect your aim the way it does. In BFV its the random recoil. Say you have two players of equal skill, both see each other at the same time and fire. Both should trade with each other, but the outcome will likely be determined with who got the more favorable random recoil. I don't see that as fair. Thanks for watching fella

    BF1 was much more casual which is why I enjoy BFV so much more even though it looks worse and is less immersive.
    BF1 had higher TTK, the conquest mode was broken and didn't encourage defensive play, most of the guns were fully automatic in a WW1 game, and the dog fighting and tank play was extremely casual.
    At least they fixed the conquest in BFV so it plays more like BF4. And the vehicles gameplay is so much more engaging and thank god the transport vehicles actually respawn as well.

    Thanks man. I do appreciate the retrospective.
    But to be completely fair, the older games more or less came down to mag dumping and burst firing. Burst firing in the older games made it so an assault rifle could take out a sniper user out in the distance fairly consistently. This is gonna trigger some people, but in my opinion, that was casual.

    Great video Mark! I think this accurately describes why the route the DICE took with the gunplay in Battlefield V was so disappointing and irritating.
    A few thoughts (which after finishing the video, I see you plan to make more episodes):
    Suppression for me is what makes Battlefield 1 more casual, even in the current state of both titles. In my mind, I should not be penalized with inaccuracy because my opponent is missing. Also other things that you did not specifically talk about because they not directly tied to gunplay such as behemoths, elite kits, sweet spot, bayonet charges... these mechanics tip the scale massively towards BF1 in terms of casual gameplay - as fun as some of them were at times.
    Speed and movement is also something that for me, Battlefield V excels at in comparison to BF1. In Battlefield 1, your slide turn cap radius is locked completely. You cannot turn while sliding, and that in comparison to how it was at launch, is almost a complete 180. You also cannot not fire while jumping, you need to "fall" off an edge to use your weapon. If you 'jump' off the edge, your weapon is locked. If my memory serves correct, there is also a delay in firing while going prone.
    I look forward to hear you talking about all of this is in the future, and if you need any help with the videos, don't hesitate to ask!

    • @SMKGAMING
      @SMKGAMING  4 роки тому +1

      Yes the movement and gameplay will be talked about in the next few videos. Where I will compare elites, behemoths with the likes of bfvs call ins like the v1 rocket. Regarding movement, on pc they nerfed the whole adad spam during BF1, they also nerfed the slide multiple times too. I think these are the things that will start to set the 2 games apart

    I played battlefield 1 & V from release boss and was use to how the guns reacted in tap firing full auto and under fire' i had 8 or 9 guns mastered slowly' the updates changed the behaviour of the guns' for example i had 34'081 kills with the hellriegel' to be fair it was over powered in the right hands and after i was given a bit of stick by the community i STOPPED using it all together.With the selbstlader i had 10,355 kills,I was killing others with it at a fair distance and after one of the updates they completely changed that weapon,'the bullet deviation was something else, a sniper siting under a tree still not moving say 150m away would take 6 shots to kill but after one of the updates it took 16 shots to kill or there abouts ,i was still good with the weapon but nowhere near the level i was ,the farquhar-hill optical was my new medic riffle with 13,242 kills, i set of again happy until a new update, it would miss the third bullet no matter how far or close you were to the enemy, this never was spoken about or fixed and with such a high kill feed with these weapons i knew how they worked. SUPPORT lMG'sl{ now this may go a bit WEST lol}, in the beginning lmgs didn't really piss me off, but as time went on more and more were camping & laying prone and after the new bi-podded lmgs e.g.lmg 08/18 low weight 100 plus magazine size with no cooling off like firing 80 bullets at a time. The parabellum two variants of that gun ,the perino 1908 low weight /defensive weapons encouraged players to bi-pod or lay prone. New updates come new perks ie specialization- COVER, incoming suppression is reduced by 25%. UNBREAKABLE- incoming suppression is reduced by 75% when your Bipod is deployed. PIN DOWN- the duration an enemy remains spotted is extended via Suppression [ i did a post when this was first out saying "whatever dev came up with those 3 perks on the same class should be SACKED"] Jeff Braddock retweeted my tweet lol i was hit hard for a week good times lol ,now new lmgs with Bipods and perks designed to make gamers camp and have an advantage over a moving #ptfo player ,this was us being conditioned for battlefield 5 with the new mmgs that could really only be used Bipodded or prone THE TERM #PTFO WASNT USED ANYMORE OR VERY LITTLE by Dice or the community, when battlefield 5 was dropped my platoon was public enemy number one for our #ptfo playstyle over this new sit back style and we all know how that went down and! you made a video ,but all that aside lol. SCOUT class ie sniping it has got easier from bf4 and bfhl the down-side was the sweet spot mechanic on game modes like conquest & operations, was yet again encouraging a class to sit at distance and get one shot sweet spot kills! to a skilled sniper like GreweGaming he was unstoppable there was an increased number of deaths from snipers than in bf4 that would suggest it was simplified [saying that i was never a good sniper below average ] back to the beginning you pick up battlefield 1 or 5 on release, play it for months 1000s of hours of gameplay you get use to how the guns play and a big update changes how the weapons behave, your stuck in your ways,so your learning all over again with muscle memory built in to your game without you knowing it. A new gamer buys bf1 or bfv, they only know how the weapons behave now, so no bad muscle memory habits, they only have to learn as they go ,why some gamers don't understand others saying" this game is shit, its broken, guns do'nt work" and to the new gamer the game is fantastic hes not only doing well but keeping up with some well known gamers. I did my record in march/april 2019, the game was 80% ,everyone was enjoying the games,they were playing gr8 only 2or3 hard campers per side but thats average stuf!! Fast track 5 months later, camping is 70% of the lobbys with little to no-one pushing forward. Slowly the mmgs took over along side the cheating problems with cronismax and company, it broke my heart to see my beloved battlefield a campfest full of cheaters with unattainable kill/death ratios...... sorry went a bit off point there but some feedback for you boss, your video was really well made and obviously hit home!!!!! see you on the battlefield my friend, ni-oldskool over and out .#GAWA.

    Battlefield 1 I feel is much more casual. Battlefield V's gunplay seems harder but also easier to control the guns at the same time if that makes same time. Battlefield 1 is more casual as the gunplay seems less about your aim as your bullets, at least for fully automatic fire, seems to go way off where your aiming so even if you are right on target, most bullets will miss if they're not close and it's harder to tell how to mitigate that

  • @-Kineticks-
    @-Kineticks- 4 роки тому +1

    I think that BF1 is more casual because of the 3D spotting. In BF5 its so difficult to see the opponent and it is very frustrating. Bty i think its essential to have 3d spotting. They got rid of it because of the big youtubers but it realy helps casual players who plays an average of 5 or 6 hours a week (the big majority of players are on console and are not hardcore players). I think it was a big mistake to take it away at the start in BF5. Good work man its interesting.

      Hey there kineticks, I will be discussing 3d spotting in the next part of the series where I looking at the gameplay. I will discuss elite kits from bf1, and call ins such as the v1 rocket in bfv. Visibility was a very big issue in BFV indeed

  • @major_dire_rear9075

    Sparky. This is super content. Well done.
    I hate the term casual. It implies that making a game that has features to level the playing field and make a game more attractive to players is a bad thing. I’d suggest that one off the many reasons that BFV failed was that the game at laugh was inaccessible to new players, DICE listened to bunch of youtubers, all elite players demanding that they never die (even though they were already going 80-5) and then act all surprised when new players don’t hang around. DICE made this admission at the time of the TTK changes in BFV; that new players were deserting the game quickly.
    One of the reasons why BF1 did better was that newer players could at least compete SOMETIMES. The better players always dominate, And always will. So the question for me is the one you ask at the end.
    Do you want a game that has an active happy, long lasting player base or do you want a game designed to massage the ego of a few wankers?
    Personally, I felt the BF1 model worked better, all guns felt more unique than in BFV. They all needed learned and IMO rbd is a good thing. BFV is a mass of homogenous 3x scope guns. I would argue that suppression is also a good mechanic, it was just a little too strong in BF1.

    • @SMKGAMING
      @SMKGAMING  4 роки тому

      I agree with everything you say up until that last sentence. I don't like suppression at all. I don't believe it should increase your spread therefore affecting your aim. They could have made it so that you have the suppressed visual on screen and that you were perhaps marked on the mini map.

    Some very good comparisons & well explained. One other thing different between the two games (on console), is the slowdown aim assist. On 1 it is a lot stronger/sticky than what it is on V. Early on with the release of V, slowdown was removed if you altered your deadzone from the default number. Even though this is now patched (supposedly), the slowdown is still nowhere near the level of what 1 has.

    • @SMKGAMING
      @SMKGAMING  4 роки тому

      Well here's the thing about slowdown on bfv and I can't prove it 100% but I think it's stronger on scopes than with iron sights. I don't feel in much at all with the sturmeghwer 1-5 when running iron sights but I can with the X3 scope. It's weird

      @@SMKGAMING that’s something I have surely felt when using a 3x. With regards to the irons/lower magnification sights, I find sometimes the slowdown either works or doesn’t. I’ve played around with my settings a fair bit recently, and currently sitting at a 6% deadzone. I have no slowdown unless the enemy is within a few metres of me, but if I up my deadzone to 13% the slowdown feels much stronger and works at a greater range.

    Great video. Really well explained. As a truly weak BF player (less than a 1.00 kd in both games) the differing methods of achieving randomness dont seem to make much difference to my game play now, when I play either game. I can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle in either game. But I did feel BFV was much harder for me when the game launched. I had a .43 kd for the first few months. Don't give up in BF4 I had a kd of 0.33 after 100 hours. UA-cam vids helped me a lot. I think players that are really in control of their aim feel this randomness much more. Good players are able to better anticipate recoil, so when something like random recoil occurs and there is very little you can do to control or learn it, it can be very irritating. I'd love more videos like these that go more in-depth about the actual mechanics of the game. I learned some new stuff that'll help me get better, good job! Gameplay, highlights, etc. are fun to watch but not many other BF UA-camrs do these kinds of videos that you do so please keep it up.
    Casual is kind of a silly term. They're both about the same. People always say that for every BF game, that they narrow the skill gap, etc, but out of everyone I play with, the same people that dominated BF1 still dominate BFV the same. Not much change in practice in my opinion.
    I don't think DICE have the balls to make a more skill-focused game than this, it's evident from reintroducing the garbage auto rotation (which keeps new players from ever really learning to aim) and stuff like AT rifles. Look at what happens between every other round in BFV. One team wins for example a conquest game with 200-300 tickets, half the other team drop out and leaves a half-dead server. Imagine what would happen if the top players could stomp even more than now. Things like that are why I don't think BF6 will be any different.
