As a huge Touhou fan and someone that will maybe kinda admit you are my Oshi cough this is some pretty dope stuff. Thanks so much Tenma!
The more you practice the easier it gets. Especially for normal bullets moving in a straight line, the brain will eventually learn to instinctively predict their path. That will in turn allow you to look slightly above your character. When you can see what's coming next and can predict how the pattern will look like once it reaches you, you'll know what the best place to be is, and still have enough time to move there (instead of continuously micro-dodging, which is unsafe and tiring). Memorization also helps a lot, because even though the patterns can move and overlap in various ways, the general shape is the same.
To explain some of the issues you've been having in this video:
- Some shots are aimed. For example Minoriko's swirly pattern, or Nitori's "balls". The more you move while she's shooting, the more chaotic the result gets. Conversely, if you stand still, it becomes a simple straight line. In these cases it's best to be far enough to allow safely standing still for the whole duration of the attack (or at least most of it).
- Because a lot of bullets follow a circle but the computer screen is a rectangle, sometimes it's safer to dodge off to the side or in the opposite corner, than directly under the boss, because it allows the bullets to spread out more and make bigger gaps. But then you have to get used to bullets coming at you diagonally. Having a large monitor and/or sitting closer to the screen also helps with micro-dodging.
- Clearing this without bombing is an insane feat and probably takes a lot of muscle memory training.
