I would disagree. Boost starving certainly has its place, but only when it allows you to maintain attacking pressure on their goal. Of course Jon got a crap hit, but if you look at the situation there, Rob's boost grab doesn't really help them much no matter what happens, whereas it increases the chance that they get scored on significantly if Jon doesn't make a really good hit. At the time Jon hit the ball there on the replay, Rob was barely even halfway to the boost, and the orange team already had someone rotating back to net. Even if Jon got a perfect shot top corner, the defender would most likely have time to get a good save, and if Jon puts it off the backboard there is no way Rob can get back in time to challenge that ball. Whenever you want to apply pressure, it is always better to do it moving forwards. That is the whole purpose of rotations, so there is always one person moving at the ball to challenge it while the other/s move back or prepare to make the next hit. In this case, the only way Rob's boost grab helps them is if Jon get's a perfect pass to Rob in the corner, or he gets a shot on net and the defender makes a bad save. Once again, Jon should definitely have made a better hit, and there is always a time and place for boost starving in 2s, but in this case it cost Rob too much time to get back to defense for it to be worth the risk.
Jon already said that it was because of his hit that they got the point so the reiteration is unnecessary. Also no one was around Rob so he wasn't boost starving anyone and that boost that he went for was not in any position where he could have reacted to a shot Jon made or made a rebound attempt. So while it was Jons fault for getting a bad hit Robs play wasn't the best.

I've learned a lot from you guys. I've only been watching you and woofless play for about a month or so and it all started when i wanted to learn how to for wall to air dribbles and watching you play with woofless and lachlin and rizzo and all of ur other friends has actually helped me get better at the game. Honestly and whole heartedly i can say that what yall do is amazing and extremely entertaining. If the chance were to ever arise I would really enjoy being able to play with you guys even if it were only a few games just to expose my self to that level of game play. What I like: The positive vibe you bring. You are always trying to improve and you take these comments to heart. What I don't like: You have a passive aggressive way that puts Rob ill-at-ease. At 29:47 you blame Rob for this goal but if you go back and look at it, you may find that if you would have been more patient and not pushed so far forward you may have been able to hit the ball. It immediately affected his game play and he began to question every shot and move. You also have a slight case of the "gotta touch the ball" syndrome. So many times since you and Rob have been trying to get you to Champion, he starts running the ball and you swoop in and take it from him. 3:01, 6:59, 45:31 are decent examples of this. At 11:41 he even tells you this, you acknowledge it, and then you forget it the rest of the time you play. I look forward to yours and Rob's videos every day. Please do better!
Jon. Rob knows his shit when he says that going for the ball depends on your teammate's position. In terms of da slap butt, going for the ball after your teammates is risky, so shouldnt be done while in the lead. LOVE IT SO MUCH THO!

Hey John, just a tip, at 29:32 (and other situations, just a good example,) if you power slide to the point where the corner of your car is closest to the ball, then if you side dodge into it, it will go much faster and be near top corner depending on timing. Love the vids, keep up the good work.

Jon, just a tip, sometimes when you have a good opportunity to center you just slam the ball as hard as you can, and instead of going center it smashes against the wall and bounces way back giving the other team momentum while you're still on their side. If the other team isn't pressuring you, you can give it a bit more of a soft hit left or right to Rob or even dribble a little

Fantastic games! I wanted to say that I thought sticking to mid while Rob's pushing seemed to work because you can help by keeping the ball near their goal.
Jon I think that pushing and blowing people up can be really important sometimes, however, sometimes you go really far out of your way to push someone, and when you go that far and you miss, they can so easily score on the net that you just probably left wide open... so keep that into consideration.. love the vids man!
Jon, just a little tip, on your face offs, if you are not going for it, don't spend boost. Instead, get the pad in front of you, bringing your total boost to around 45. You can easily save any aerial shot with 50 or so boost so 45 is not bad. Wherever you can, save boost.
An observation: I have been noticing that when he still has a decent amount boost and is airborne waiting to land, he doesn't use any boost to accelerate his descent -- might be something to think about. That decreased recovery time could make all the difference.

I don't think Jon's issue is his prioritizing boost over the ball, it's his boost control, he just holds it down past the point of speed trails a large number of occasions. all the unnecessary boost usage causes him to have to pick up more boost to stay agile in the moment. If you are reading this Jon, your boost key is your savings account in a RL game. dont over use it, keep it decent, doesn't need to be full, but far above empty, and rob from your opponents only when it is convenient for your rotation. this helped me go from challenger elite to allstar in 2's and 3's.

Hey John, just a tip, at 29:32 (and other situations, just a good example,) if you power slide to the point where the corner of your car is closest to the ball, then if you side dodge into it, it will go much faster and be near top corner depending on timing. Love the vids, keep up the good work.

Jon, just a tip, sometimes when you have a good opportunity to center you just slam the ball as hard as you can, and instead of going center it smashes against the wall and bounces way back giving the other team momentum while you're still on their side. If the other team isn't pressuring you, you can give it a bit more of a soft hit left or right to Rob or even dribble a little
Jon is called Jon 'sandman' for a reason.. he is well known, has the intention of being evil to opponents, deserves more attention and publicity

Jon I think that pushing and blowing people up can be really important sometimes, however, sometimes you go really far out of your way to push someone, and when you go that far and you miss, they can so easily score on the net that you just probably left wide open... so keep that into consideration.. love the vids man!
Jon, just a little tip, on your face offs, if you are not going for it, don't spend boost. Instead, get the pad in front of you, bringing your total boost to around 45. You can easily save any aerial shot with 50 or so boost so 45 is not bad. Wherever you can, save boost.

An observation: I have been noticing that when he still has a decent amount boost and is airborne waiting to land, he doesn't use any boost to accelerate his descent -- might be something to think about. That decreased recovery time could make all the difference.

Hey Jon, I know you probably wont see this but I might as well give it a shot. I want to thank you for everything you have done for me. I have had the worst days of my life lately but you have might my life brighter and keep me with my head and hopes high. My brother at the age of 27 died on super bowl Sunday due to a heroine overdose in the bathroom before our family went to church. I don't think Jon's issue is his prioritizing boost over the ball, it's his boost control, he just holds it down past the point of speed trails a large number of occasions. all the unnecessary boost usage causes him to have to pick up more boost to stay agile in the moment. If you are reading this Jon, your boost key is your savings account in a RL game. dont over use it, keep it decent, doesn't need to be full, but far above empty, and rob from your opponents only when it is convenient for your rotation. this helped me go from challenger elite to allstar in 2's and 3's.
Jon I just got to Shooting Star Div 2 up from a week long struggle of Rising Star Div 4/5! Your videos are hilarious/enjoyable to watch and really help with positioning/getting better, F2 MASTERS
