If you are interested in learning about the difference between the Sveshnikov and the Kalashnikov, here's the video I mentioned: ua-cam.com/video/NePPwmRU5bI/v-deo.html You can get my Kalashnikov course on Chessable here: www.chessable.com/kings-kalashnikov-sicilian/course/78873/ and the book directly from New In Chess: www.newinchess.com/king-s-kalashnikov-sicilian

    5:30 (to around 9:00)
It's because of sections like this that I love this channel so much.
In just three and a half minutes you give a distilled explanation of how to think in that opening,
pointing out what is actually important to look at in that kind of position.
No need for half an hour of variations and concrete analysis,
which would be close to useless once you are facing a similar situation at the board.
I'm not usually singing the praises of your content in the comments,
but I think it's well deserved, at least once in a while.
    Thanks for your videos!

My take is: rapid chess is difficult, Pragg blundered, Murzin seized his chance!

Very interesting game, thanks for analyzing it. That definitely was quite the path to victory Murzin had to go through, tons of big names. I did see one or two of his early games and I believe he may have been lost in both, but ended up winning them. That's rapid, of course they were chaotic positions, very complicated and he handled the time scramble well.
Nerves. They matter. More so, than I think we give credit. Just my opinion, but I believe Fabi's nerves fail him more than the average top player. I put Naka in that category as well. Which doesn't make sense considering how highly rated they are and have been. Nonetheless, I think if that had better nerves either one of them would have challenged Magnus more than they did in their careers.
Regardless, these youngsters either by age or some other reason do not seem to lack the nerve. They're fearless! I look forward to seeing their progress. Maybe we'll have more than one person dominate the upper ranks. Be nice to have something like tennis has had the past decade plus.

Gotta give Daniel props for his pronunciation of chess player names. I don't know if they're right, but they sure sound like it!

Petty remark: (15:30) Qh1+ is not a mate.
A very interesting game and wonderful (as always) explanations.

What was wrong with 53...Bd4 instead of 53...Qd4?
I agree that "divining" 53...Bc7 is too difficult to find in a rapid game but 53...Bd4 looks entirely logical and blocks the d-file from entry by white's queen which one suspects was the main threat Fabi wanted to neutralise. The game looks equal after 53...Bd4.

The new kids on the block. Chess is in rude health! Step aside Caruana (old man). The teenagers are coming.

Well, the old guys managed to get two blitz world champs! Take that, kids!
