Alan gaves Depeche Mode the deepness.. and the coolness in sounds. I miss him and his input in music for depeche and his genius sounds un general nowadays.
Omar&theIsland Nevertheless, i love "Where's the revolution" and i'm very excited for the upcoming "Spirit" at the moment..
There is something big special coming.. i feel it :-)
TBH... Depeche Mode's best record 'Ultra' was the first without him. 'Exciter' had its moments, too... all others that came out afterwards sucked.
No, it wasn't. Terrible album were DM sounded worse than their own cover bands.
Alan is one of the most genius musicians of modern times...
If you are looking for what is missing from newer Depeche Mode music, you found it right here. Wilder provided the soul.
The most essential member is Martin Gore from as far as I know but I haven'r researched a lot the group. This is my impression that he is the main creator.
Maybe Alan gave great samples. I don't know.
@@innosanto Thanks to Alan DM sounded as they did. Without Alan they would've never become well-known. He was the MASTER of their sounding.
@@luizajarmuowicz6916 They would be known with Vince I guess but with a different vibe, more light and pop music.
A collaboration between two of the most underrated musicians of the late 20th century
Its 2024- my how 🕧-🕊️'s...This JAM is still Jamming!.. DM-🎼-🎯....💫
I just bought online, hard to find and very rare. Sound amazing and fresh in 2024.

Mute has announced details of a series of reissues from Recoil, the solo project from ex-Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder, starting with three long out of print albums, Unsound Methods, Liquid and subHuman - due out on double coloured vinyl and CD on 7 October 2022. They’re available to pre-order now.
@3:35 was in a plane with my grandparents listening to this on a walkman with buds in, during this part flying over the red clay veins of Oklahoma from Kansas to Texas. I miss my grandparents and love this song forever. It was a living dream
Circa August '92
Thank you KSYM
Anyone remember how awesome it felt to hear this song for the 1st time?.. I still feel like that today
Should be called SIR Alan Wilder ..! Musical genius
Toni and Alan = genius!
One of my favorite Recoil songs!! Excellent vocals by Toni Halliday and of course, music by Alan Wilder. What else can I say?
Alan is a genius of the sound. 👏👏👏
that part at 3:33 is so nostalgic this is the sound depeche tried to emulate on the 2001 exciter and even then failed miserably and didnt even get anywhere close, do you understand how ahead of his time alan wilder actually was this came out in 1992 do you understand how fucking ahead of his time he was . and some simularities on SOFAD i hear in this since sofad began in 1992 when alan had just finished Bloodline in 1992
It wasn't really ahead of time - it's a Twin Peaks sample. Moby was sampling the same OST. It's just really effective here.
Anyway, as posted above...

Obviously I miss Alan in DM. But what he does with Recoil is absolutely amazing. Unsound Methods is in my opinion one of the best albums ever in all categories. It requires time to listen to, but the more you listen, the better it becomes. Listen to it with a good sound system, high-volume, in a darkened room, lie on your back and float into the music. It's better than meditation. Had he stayed in DM, it's not certain all of the amazing music he makes with Recoil had been made.
Listen to it with a good sound system, high-volume, in a darkened room, lie on your back and float into the music IS meditation !
It is. The album was not appreciated by the critics back in the day. Neither was Bloodline. They have absolutely stood the test of time.
@@EduardoPortasRuiz Yes and I think that maybe it was the wrong people who started listening to him, it was mostly DM fans and they just wanted him back to DM and didn't think it sounded enough DM and so on, but those albums are a bit more of Trip Hop, but it never feels like that audience got their eyes on the albums. If Allan had been in, for example, Massive Attack, dropped out and then made those albums, he might have enjoyed a wider audience that liked that type of music.
Alan!!! Please for the mother GOD!! Please just make one more with DM. It’s just the two of them. Call them! Spend a few months in a beautiful secluded oasis with old and new tech and just mesmerize us!! I believe it would change lives and you would all be able to do one last small tour together and see how much we love you! Absolute sellout shows!!
This song sounds so modern for 92. But I think Edge to Life is the best track on the album, her voice is mesmerizing.
this was the first song i heard toni's voice on been in love with ever since. helped me mentally whilst in the army
Alan gave DM this unique dark sound. Toni is stellar, as always.
They was already developing a darker sound on their first two albums. Puppets, photographic, leave in silence etc. listen carefully to the music 😉
Alan Wilder and the beautiful Tony Halliday! What a combo.
I used to listen to this album on cassette tape back in the late 80's and early 90's. Brings back memories of my teen years. I love it. Thank you.
don't know who i fancy more....alan or toni...
Alan, you're simply an amazing music genius!!!
Alan Wilder. Eres Único!!! PLEASE Vuelve a Depeche Mode 2023.
ALANWILDER "DM & RECOIL" FOREVER!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🎵🎵
Glad we met a few times Alan. I love you. You WERE DM! Did not like them since your departure.
Same here. with the exception of Ultra, all DM albums since he left were just mediocre at best
Wilder - the consummate Wonder. Both drums and synthesizers. Amazing!
Its such a tragedy that Alan left Depeche Mode. This is the first time I've listened to anything by Recoil/Alan Wilder outside of Depeche Mode. Depeche Mode have Martin's songs and Dave's voice but their music is sorely missing Alan.
Alan is a genious !!! Don't Say no more. !!!
The hottest male and hottest female of the 20th century!!
oohh excelent !!!!!!!!! brittish are masters of music,,alan wilder is a master,,!!!
Toni Halliday has such a brilliant voice. also heard on leftfields original
Alan keep the expression of DM music and they remain with Gore`s sweets emotional combinations!
Ahead of its time.
Alan you're so beautiful❤
Miss you in DM🌹
I've been looking for the Identity of this band since 97!! Somebody brought up Alan Wilder and viola! It's this band!!!! wow.
A completely underrated angel!!!
This is Curve straight off✨🖤✨🖤✨
te amo Alan 😍
My GIRL! Thank YOU Toni!! I LOVE you!!💖💖💖
I'm addicted to this song!!
There’s no Depeche without Alan, and there’s absolutely no Alan without Depeche.
That’s it!
Great work mate! I'm a massive fan of this song, Recoil, and of course the lovely Toni Halliday!
Martin was the soul, Gahan was the flesh, and Alan was the bones. Now this is just bones without any flesh and current DM is a body with no bones. Still stands still though.
Andrew Fletcher is along for the ride and not musically important to Depeche Mode.
Not even that. Chest hair could contribute to be kind of retro-masculine. I'd say, "butt hair" is a more appropriate assessment?
Recent DM songs are badly written, Gahan lost his voice some time ago, DM doesnt sound dark or mysterious anymore. Alan will never re-join DM and I understand him.
i love alan as a musician, pure genius . i love this track with toni. i feel sometimes the vocals he choices can sometimes let down the music.. but this is spot on.
I wish there would be another Recoil album, but one with Douglas McCarthy on vocals for all the songs. That would be amazing! 🖤🤘🏻
By far my favorite Recoil Song
Alan should work with Toni Halliday again!
I don't understand why so much shade is being put on DM because Alan stepped away. Alan stepped away after the first album and Depeche mode has still been on fire ever since. I get Alan has contributed to the feel of Depeche mode but we can't say the others didn't have any play in that as well. The only people who know are the people who were in that room at that time making great music. If wilder put DM where they are today, why isn't his numbers equal or better than Depeche? Please understand this isn't a shot at the man I just want to know. This song is very beautiful I really enjoy it.
Alan, Depeche Mode needs you, please go back to them
Depeche mode not needs Alan.
They never invite back him into the band. :/
This is the true!
Or do you know more about this?
Alan Wilder and Toni Halliday....WOW, COOL!!!!!
F*@K Yes!!! Outstanding!!!! Thank you sooooooo much Alan, you are number one!!!
Greetings from 🇬🇹 Guatemala City, CENTRAL AMERICA 🫡 Alan Wilder rules the deepness!
It would be nice if Alan decides to return with DM again!
Indeed.modern Dm just miss that tuch that Alan gave to the band.Ultra was an album that still sounded like if alan was still in..from then on, the abyss
@@Zontar82 all DM albums, the recent ones, are great. Maybe different but great.
Sublime indescrivibile... unica .
The producer-as-artist. Kicking your shit in, every day. No pressure :)
Since 92 when this album is published , Alan wilder left a year after in 93 , He's a genius and an inventor of notes , a modern Mozart , a Melody Einstein ... DM is way better with him , Alan please for the love of Music and Us , Get back !
Amazing, awesome, fantastic!!!
My favorite Recoil song .................... a hug from Perú 🌈❤️🌷🎼⚔️📿😎👍...
Love Toni from curve
i love alan and all his projects since his departure but i think leavin DM was a bad idea
i know he want to be the boss of himself and build a future on his own but imagine what DM would sound like nowadays with him in the band
even without him they are stilll the best but with him in the group that will be the comeback of the century in my opinion
Respect!
the first time I heard bloodline I didnt knew moby and I didnt knew curve. And even when I knew curve I never saw videos when I can see what Tony sing that song.. but Im trully thought deep in my mind that voice cant forget.. I'm pretty sure Alan thought the same. The deepest voice, magic, endless...
Oooh - I could have a lot of fun with drummer Alan and Synthesizer Alan!
Just love it!!!!!
Why did he leave Depeche? Alan, along with the other 3 gents, got me thru some rough times.
Why did he leave, it's a long story and at least a few reasons combined.
Because he wasn’t appreciated. He should have been a full member and they should have dumped Fletcher when Vince left.
awesome!
And yet, Alan is a big part of DM, it soul. Alan's real life.
I would say Ricoil - music is not for everyone. This is something that I don’t want to share with everyone.
the conclusion of this song is so epic right around @3:34 I fucking love this so much
@@Lawtasaj yea the ending is cut off and arguably the best part of the arrangement in the song!
He’s so RAD!!
Good!
ALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
Thank you for your work. I enjoy this video for 3 years.
really dark....ufff...great!!!
Erano e restano bravi
Temazo...
én is! Alan
Papito rico Alan
such a great band.
So he gave that sound to Depeche Mode
very dark and mysterious
Kickass editing on the video for a stellar track - Best Regards an AW fanboy 🩸📣
Beautiful
Depeche Mode without Alan Wilder is like peanut butter and jelly without the peanut butter. And the jelly. Just boring bread.
Ultra and Playing The Angel are the only really good post Wilder albums
Wow. Most underrated guy in the electronic music ever? There'd clearly be no NIN without Alan Wilder.
Exactly. You're either influenced by Alan Wilder directly or second hand. He is a pioneer of the dark electronic & EBM genre's
You called it!👍
Not sure about that but I think they'd both be pleased with the association
I think I have said they are influenced by DM
And Alan is one of the great drummer in the world too.... Let's see him on Devotional Tour with DM....❤
