I like the way Wanjiru has placed Ben on a pedestal....He must have given her enough space and accorded her alot of grace to be herself.
This conversation touches a lot on self awareness. For any person, the image of inner self as defined by the person and not by other people is one important life aspect and one of those things a person should never lose. You lose this, you start doubting your identity and ultimately its chaos. Guard it jealously. I have always found communities are great spaces to understand one's self, and when one finds such a community, hold it dear. Shout out to my community; The Journey Campus Ministry and Amazing Minds Africa, for playing the most significant role in this journey for me. To everyone reading this, may you find this space for you, and great job Joy Ride for these life changing conversations.

I have the same thing- I always want to bolt. My instinct is to leave whenever things get tense (childhood issues). I'm so relieved to hear someone else struggles with the same thing. I'm not crazy or abnormal but I definitely should work on it.

About the lipstick issue and whether it’s ok to tell someone, does that mean one should never mention something that they don’t care for about their partner? I would equate it to the way babes tell their partner about their dressing or hairstyle, as an example. I’m honestly baffled about this. Where does one draw the line? What’s ok to state and what’s not? I feel like there might be double standards
Hey! I think it’s in the way it’s said that really matters. Communication is in more than the words we say- it’s really in the how we say it. For me(Wanjiru) it was said in a condescending way hence why it hurt!
@@TheJoyridepod True (about how something is said and whether it hurt the recipient of the comment being important). Thanks for clarifying this, because I would like to think that there needs to be a healthy space for partners to express something they might not prefer about the other person without it being taken badly, as long as it’s said with love and with genuine intentions.
I had a guy who always criticized my dressing every time I am going out without him, work place, market place, girls out...Like he would like me all covered up like a Mokorino and he never compromised. Iwas not his wife😏 it was his own insecurities not mine

Georgie 98% is good and you need to work on the 2%????????? The problem is you are looking for 100% which isn't possible. Relationships are built on understanding not perfection. Go back to that relationship and stop being perfectionists. This 100 person doesn't exist. Grace is what carries people. Aloooooot of it. As long as it's not a toxic relationship that is killing you then just stay.
