the woman who switched it up to head voice and did a Bb5 was so good wow
who was that?
@@f.stereo72 2:44
She was cheese sticking it
no way, that high note HAS to be BELTED, using head voice is a cop out
The duo from the Roger Water Us & Them tour were absolutely mind blowing as well, but are not on here😢
Clare Torry will stay unmatched forever . Not only she marks the clearest notes but she has an aura while singing that all the others cannot reach.
after Clare Torry's original, I think Vivianne Donner (of Atom) gives the best performance, by far.
Is there any original footage of her singing it ?
Clare's version on the album was good. Her singing it live....oh dear..
Best for me is Eva avila
props to all the singers for even trying!
There is also a woman who tried it at the voice france ! And I think coaches returned !
I think any singer who can say "I did Great Gig In The Sky" and did it justice, can be justifiably very proud. That's a career highlight.
Claire Torrie is the queen. She hit the highest A5's out of all of them. They are all good, but Claire outshines them all.
Highest A5???!!
@@karlschulerA5 is a really hard note to hit, A is the note and I think 5 is the pitch. Not sure correct me if I'm wrong though. 😅
@@Emberchariot 5 would be the octave this is above the treble clef staff
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
I LOVED Eva Avila's version.. it was effortless as not many can do besides CLAIRE'S (of course)
And to see her live with Britt Floyd is unreal!!!
I agree. Seen Eva Avila live a few times too and she comes the closet. And maybe- just maybe- surpasses CT by a thread.
I've got Goosebumps ... everytime i hear Ava ... would love to hear her again on the next Brit-Tour🤩
Agee 100%!
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
10:10 was my favourite, she nailed the "dying scream" vibe of the original
She was also my pick. That was Angela Cervantes, she is beautiful & good, she did it gracefully & flawlessly. She also did it & the Atom Heart Mother in their live performance of "Pink Tones Live at Segobriga Roman Amphitheatre"
Viviane Donner, the most beautiful rendition to “the great gig in the sky” I ever heard.
There were only a couple that pulled ALL the notes AND carried them through like Clare Torry. I fell in love with this song at a very young age and would practice it over and over until I got it. Drove all my friends nuts because they were into the psychedelics and I was into singing this with pure passion. #pinkfloydforever
I wish I had the high notes for this.
Ola's version will always be the best for my ears, she was the only one who hit four SUSTAINED A5s
Yeeeesss 😎❤️
I'm sorry, but the best interpretation of this piece of music is, without a doubt, that of LILIAN XIMENES... is identical to Claire Torry's voice
EVA AVILA, the best!!! in this video, in this pink floyd cover.
Technical, clean, in the notes, flowing, etc. Is the best!!
Absolutely agree! Eva kills it!
Hace las notas nada más poca sense
The fact that this is a milestone achievement in history....hats off to all that attempt.
3:05 killed it. Best one imo, the Bb adds so much emotion and makes perfect sense in the context of the song, from how it goes from a sorrow feeling towards a blissful acceptance
That's how Clare composed it.
2:40 is so good it makes me wanna cry 😭
Sam Brown is my favorite. I love her version and tone of her voice.
6:56 Lilian You got it! Perfection..
Lilian Ximenes appoaches the original the best. Very beautifull. You can hear some female singers have even space above the A5 concidered the ease of reaching the A5. Bravo! Gives me chills...
Eva Avila is the best! Just like the record omg
The singer credited as "Margret Taylor" is actually Rachel Fury. Margret Taylor is a different singer who was part of Pink Floyd's touring backing vocals trio together with Rachel Fury and Durga McBroom and she can be seen doing an amazing job in the live rendition of On The Turning Away. Unfortunately Margret is not the singer who appears on this video, that's Rachel.
Thanks for the correction!
& you cut just short of her hitting a note higher than A5 I believe...@@randomvocalsforyou3879
Margaret Taylor is actually seen in the background of that particular clip next to Durga McBroom who was intentionally placed between Rachel and Margaret because they did not get along well
This just goes to demonstrate how utterly brilliant Clare Torry's original take on it was. She did it in two and a half takes, with virtually zero diection from the band, except for one thing. On the first take, she sang stuff like, "Ooh, ooh baby!"
The guys went, "Er, that's great but, er, we don't want any real words." The rest is history. Clare didn't even know they'd used her voice until she saw the album for sale.
I love the vocals from one of my favorite compositions from Pink Floyd. All these beautiful ladies sang incredibly supernatural, I wish I could hit those notes😢😢😢😢
Sam is №1 absolutely. So dramatic and voice just splits down to atoms.
What a GREAT interesting video. I grew up listening to Dark side and have listened to iy hundreds of times. I though most of these singers did a great job of what is probably a very demanding song. Some were awesome, some were really really good and two just didnt cut it for me. When they get it right it literally takes my breath away and brings tears to my eyes. Thanks
This is so awesome. Thank you.
All are obviously talented. Eva Avila just kills it! The best!
She is! I have seen her with Brit Floyd and she is amazing!
I love Angela Cervantes amazing way of interpreting this beautiful, timeless song of Claire. I will not compare Angela to Claire or to others covering it who also have done a very good rendition. To each her own way of interpreting this amazing song. I love the way Angela did it, gracefully, no strain in her voice from high to low, her acting, her emotion. She is beautiful with her long flowing hair. Her lived rendition of Great Gig & Atom Heart Mother with Spanish Band Pink Tones at Spain Segobriga Roman Amphitheater was so beautiful.
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
Fantastic compilation. Thank you for putting it together
Thank you for supporting it!
I'm sorry to say, but Valeria Lynch's version made me laugh so hard, way too shakey and too many breathes inbetween.
Lol me too😂
Bloody Awful...😂
The worst version I've ever heard🤢🤢🤢
Eva Avila
You should definitely try and do a singers attempting the Careful with That Axe, Eugene screaming!
It’s not just about hitting notes it’s about expressing that feeling of your soul being ripped out your body and fighting it with ever last fiber, and energy you have left. Letting it all out before finally succumbing to the end. They told her to scream like she was dying which is a key element that a lot of singers don’t understand to fixate on with this song.
BRAZIL IN THE HOUSE 🇧🇷
9:20 and 10:10 were my favorites !! im not a singer so i cant describe what exactly i loved about them too well. but the first one had such clear beautifully hit notes, especially the high ones being so similar to the original, and the second one really has the "last dying scream" emotion and power to it
The song is my number one of all time.
Perhaps one of the most difficult notes sequences to sing!
I would imagine Monica Naranjo or Cristina Ramos singing that part! It would be amazing!
9:35 It was the closest to the original.
ua-cam.com/video/J3xc5H_N8ds/v-deo.html i found this one, she might not be a well known singer but DAYUM ITS THE ORIGINAL I CAN SAY
@@tansrikeebs3533that one from Lilian Ximenes is already credited in this compilation. Or were you saying you had found the full version of it?
I saw Eva do it live. She was amazing!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU VIVIANE DONNER 🇧🇷
Clare was easily the best and original ❤
Hats off to all of them, a few were outstanding, but credit goes to Clare.
Apart from Claire, Sam Brown will always have a special place for me.
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
poh, vlw, show essa postagem. grato.
Ok this is inside my range!!!
They’re all good!
Minute 11:00 , is Rachel Fury (Margaret Taylor is the third lady from right to left) . Rachel Fury is my favorite!
Lilian Ximenes nails it for me. Superb cover.
Angela Cervantes is my favorite 🙂
Me too !
I have listened Eva Avila live!
Lol no one can outshine the great Claire Torry
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
@Phil-Paris-France jeez dude, you could just say "Thank you & btw it's spelled Clare not Claire" why so rude about it???
There is only one Clare Torry. Period. Although some came very close.
Eva Evila shows them all to do it , outstanding power and pitch
EVA OML
Great video. Thank you. the singer at 10:10 is Rachel Fury not Margret Taylor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Fury. she is on the Delicate Sound of Thunder DVD
Eva Avila. Close to Clare.
the second one was offensively effortless
WoW WoW WoW
That wasn’t Margret Taylor, it was Rachel Fury in that piece. Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. Was there, twice. Saw the show, she was amazing!
and by leaving out Machan (Margaret) they missed the best of the 3 IMO
La meilleure est la dernière. L'interprétation est géante👌
as a 57-year old man I watched this entirely longer than I thought I would, almost every single time that G5 is introduced it absolutely pulls tears, guess I'm just programmed that way.
In case you might have missed it Rodger Waters just recorded Dark Side of the Moon Redux.
In true Pink Floyd fashion David gilmour pre-recorded great gig in the sky using as he said a very special guest vocalist. (Yoko Ono)
You can hear both Rodger Waters and David Gilmore's recording of songs on UA-cam.
Until next time
- Breath in the air, and don't be afraid to care.
Eva Avila, perfect....👏👏
This is the song that will always top any chart for the amount of heart a woman could put into how much they feel music deep within their hearts. I am a true believer that this one sends major signals of peace and the good Lord between the boundaries of language between all women and people of the entire planet without utilizing a single language. I believe it means peace love and prosperity between all languages, creed, race & religion to bring ultimately all of us together in harmony, just as if we played all of these lovely ladies together at the same time, life would be singularly in harmony just as our blood is the same color underneath the skin, as it truly is. Why is there other than one love? Why is there segregation, why is there racism, why is there those who think they are better than others? why? it make no fucking sense.... I'm really at harms way here thinking why any race creed or religion are treated different from one another, is there really a reason? Please tell me and the rest of the world why there really has to be hatred?
Florianna Ferro really got some pipes in her man
She sounds most like the original.
There were six signers that nailed the emotion. The rest were just singing notes. Three just didn’t have strong enough voices to attempt this.
There's a reason it's called "mother earth." Amazing performances!
What an interesting video, I had no idea so many people were singing this classic. Loved them all except the last one, that was a dud, she should never have attempted it. Don't mess with the classics!! Not being a musician, I was also grateful for the way you put the notes on screen, easy to tell who was doing it right. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it immensely. 🙏🤟👍😁
The last singer was Claire. Surely you knew that.
Remarkable, how each singer no doubt spent hours rehearsing this solo, yet not match Clare Torry who dreamt up and sang the original on the spur of the moment. I do like Sam Brown's rendition, pity the clip is so short.
Florianna Ferro was my favorite, but Lilian Ximenes was closest to Clare. Bianca Antoinette was strong too. But there is, of course, only one Clare.❤
For me Sam Brown and Clare Torry
Viviane Donner, amazing voice and gets the emotion just right. I'm biased, tho, since we've been friends for more than 25 years 😅
11:00 was Rachel Furry not Margret Taylor
Rachel Fury Forever!!!
I will make this into a tab!
please comment the tab here once youve finished! :)
@@Ladybug_Collector123 sorry I've been with the calculus finals so hadn't much time
@@rakusin dw about it💪
I enjoyed this video. Obviously no one is going to top the original, but many in here were quite noteworthy (no pun intended!). Most were damn good, a couple were exceptional! One rather sucked. That Florianna Ferro is stunningly BEAUTIFUL! I also liked how they put the significant notes up when they hit them. I know when they're getting close when my eyes start tearing up! A song about dying, I always call this the saddest wordless song of all time!
different settings,different sound qualities
NO ONE'S GON TALK ABOUT EVA AVILA'S FIRST A5? WHAT'S WITH THAT NO BREATHING SHIT
Es una locura
I wish someone would timestamp these.......otherwise, I could listen to this all day long.
love Sam Brown's take, not fully shown here.
Me quedo çon Eva.
How come you cut short the end of Sam brown session when she smashed the end of her slot ? 😮
Lilian Ximenes, best attempt!
Florianna Ferro nailed it but there was no soul or pain whatsoever
やっぱり世界にはすごい人がいるね、
no one ever rivaled or matched what clare torry did that faithful night, including she herself. but the best latter day performance of the piece must be the one by sam brown with the remains of the floyds. she just made it her own. (ua-cam.com/video/vWZ6hmHj2MA/v-deo.html)
Someone sings in playback
Eva Avila The Only One. Simply the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll take Ola all day. But they all rock
Thank God YOKOONO was not invited, jajajaja
Vivians tops
The best ever : Claire
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
Vivianne Donner was and will remain the best vocalist who was able to reinterpret this wonderful song by Pink Floyd. Her voice is an instrument, against certain squawking chickens who have tried and failed to improve the original by Clare Torry
The best interpretation of this piece of music is, without a doubt, that of LILIAN XIMENES... is identical to Claire Torry's voice!!! WOW 👏👏👏
My aunt's name is CLARE not Claire !
Has any male singer attempted this?
is that woman at 6 mins ok? and why is keanu reeves on drums?
If Yoko Ono sang like that, The Beatles would've stayed strong together at least for another decade 😢
I like a Eva Avila💕🔥
Viviane Donner the best!!!!!!!
11:00th minute, she is not Margret Taylor, its RACHEL FURY. Now I am not sure if the rest of them are correct. Except for SAM BROWN 12:00th min that one is correct.
OLA BIENKOWSKA is my favorite, why ? She is Polish, I’m Polish, easy what ?
Sssssssseeeeew sw 7:17
eva avila is the one
