Good for you guys! This video reminds me of my childhood. We had 2X4 cabinets with plywood and vinyl tile on top. My mom made curtains for the fronts. Then when me and my brother got into high school we made cabinets out of mahogany for mothers day. It took us about a month to make them. She cried when they were done. Awesome! Good Luck!
LMAO..... as soon as I saw the shirt I thought damn, I remember having to relieve myself in the woods and not having TP so I cut my sleeves off to handle business and then you say it. Hilarious! She just looks at you like why am I not surprised, absolutely hilarious. I thoroughly enjoy both of you and your attitudes in regards to life, thank you.
This video is so funny. My hubs insists that we wear gloves while doing any menial task (like moving a dishwasher), but somehow footwear is optional (much like you guys). Great vibe and I like that you work together so well. The world needs more of this!
Job well done guys. Love your spirit. When I saw that Jack Daniel's T-shirt, I heard Chris Stapleton singing, you're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey... 🙏🙌🙏
I love you 2. You are interested in making a functional space, not impressing the rich and famous. I really like how you are approaching your home, living in it as you complete it. You have something to be very proud of, conceived in your own minds using your own ingenuity and hard work. You should be proud!
Great job guys. I'm just sorry you will have to pull all that stuff out and re-adjust everything when it's time to drywall. Hope you don't get injured either. That's slows the process even more. Trust me. I went to paint my garage thus year, it now has to wait til next year because I broke my wrist. I'm partly disabled on top of it so makes for a longer slower process. Work smarter not harder. Prayers up!❤
GM. My first time visiting your Chanel and I am now subscribed. Two comments if you don’t mind actually three. From where I stand you’re making too much work for yourself. You did a wonderful job on those basement stairs what do you have a 4 inch riser great for old people to walk up wake me no struggle on those babies. And my first time watching and wish you guys are fighting that’s a pleasure to see all right back to watching on the big TV. Enjoy! Oops love the river by the way
Im new here from alabama. I really like the band saw videos. Been thinking on 1 from Harborfreight. Just made up my mind on it. Thanks for the new post. Trying.to catch up on old 1 s.
Looks great guys, can't wait to see the stunning counter top you sliced out of that 30" cedar log. Stay cool, 9 straight days of 100 to 107 down here in southern Idaho 😓. Take care, Jack.
Great work! I'm pretty much following along with ya doing the same thing in my cabin build. Working on the countertop! 2" slab pine. Really enjoy your content!
2x4 framing, inside wood like plywood, osb, or boards, then pull out racks. Outside backerboard covered in tile ( plank style ) metal stainless doors. The top buy rock looking tile, bust the tile with a hammer making Mosaic peices glue peices to top close but none are to touch. Tile a level board around the top. Now epoxy the top.
Is there a video showing the final product? Building a kitchen very similar to this myself, and was getting ideas for how to execute this when I stumbled upon your video!
Just wondering why you haven’t lined the kitchen wall behind the fridge and new cabinet? Wouldn’t it be easier to do that now, especially if they are permanent cabinets? Love your channel by the way and really respect that you’re doing it all as debt free as you can. 👏👏
Since you asked... I love your ingenuity and your drive... a bit unconventional though. I mean, if you want to put trim around your door, I think your upper cabinets are too close to the door for that... I'll be eager to see what you come up with. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I've always been one for function over form... I mean, the thing has to work... then we worry about making it beautiful.
You're not going to have wall covering behind the cabinets? If you insulate the interior walls, what's going to stop the insulation from going into the cabinets? Dishwashers typically come with an insulation blanket to help with sound deadening. Doesn't look like you left enough room to add it. Hope the noise will be tolerable without it. When is the wedding or did it happen already? Sure was hoping to see it. Can't wait until the shiplap is dry and you guys install it. Will be a huge transformation. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
We are going to put a backer board behind the cabinet before we completely finish them, the dishwasher didn’t have it, I’m sure we will figure it out, the wedding is August 7th! Thanks for watching!
Guys, do yourselves a big favour and try to find some money for a powered miter saw. It will really improve doing projects like this in terms of cut quality and speed, especially if you install it onto a base with stops for repetitious cuts.
The only thing that I am curious about is why you didn't hang drywall behind your cabinets before you installed them? It seems like you might have made some extra hard work for yourself now that you have framed in your cabinets. Good video!
a small bit of advice before you go too much further is to cut the cabinet by the dishwasher a little shorter in length and and some poly insulation between the dishwasher and the cabinet. It made my dishwasher whisper quiet. Wishing you 2 the best.
Bare bones with a dishwasher? Geesh...Hahaha. jk 😜. Anyways, you'll want to adjust the feet on it to lower it within the cabinet, steam and heat for one, and the push button panel looks like you'd need hamster fingers in order to run it when it's right underneath the countertop. Just a thought
You do know that there are people who have channels dedicated to building cabinets and other house hold structures. I hope you've done a little research.
crazy someone would thumbs down a young couple who have the balls to chase a dream

What a great gesture, that’s really cool! We are probably going to have some curtains as well. Thanks for watching watching!
@free at last. That is awesome.
You are blessed to have a partner willing to help you and share all your dreams.
A rustic house deserves rustic cabinets. Nice job

Judging by the way things are built today your cabinets are rock solid
need more people like you two in this world, May God bless you.
You should listen to her more, every time she recommends something...she's spot on.

You've got a great area for a lazy Susan by the stove in that corner. Looks great guys
Good carpentry cabinet base framing! Cedar countertops will look great! 👍😎

it's looking great and pretty sturdy right now. consider your caulking if you're doing a backsplash. 👍🖒💚💛

Should have finished the inside walls(drywall or boards) before installing cabinets. Varments will have easy access to the insulated walls for a home.
Thanks!
Looking good one thing ata time

You may want to add the interior wall behind the frigidaire before making cupboard permanent. Love your set up
That’s our plan, thanks for watching!
Just wondering why you haven’t lined the kitchen wall behind the fridge and new cabinet? Wouldn’t it be easier to do that now, especially if they are permanent cabinets?
Love your channel by the way and really respect that you’re doing it all as debt free as you can. 👏👏
It would be easier now for sure, we don’t have enough shiplap dry yet- but we will make it nice once our wood is ready. Thank you for watching!!

Do you have plans to put some type of hand rail on the loft stairs?
Hi guys, great job! Can you tell me the dimensions of your pitching window? Thx. Designing our home now and windows are tough!
Pitching window?
Lol, how does auto correct get pitching from kitchen? 🤷♀️
The only thing that I am curious about is why you didn't hang drywall behind your cabinets before you installed them? It seems like you might have made some extra hard work for yourself now that you have framed in your cabinets. Good video!
Yes, just a little- we are going to hang some plywood back there on this side, shouldn’t be too hard but not ideal. Thanks for watching, Craig!
Dang sure industrial strength cabinets. You can set engine blocks on them.
a small bit of advice before you go too much further is to cut the cabinet by the dishwasher a little shorter in length and and some poly insulation between the dishwasher and the cabinet. It made my dishwasher whisper quiet. Wishing you 2 the best.
Sounds good thank you.
Finish the wall before installing the dishwasher!!

@@kensnow8946 I like to tell my teenagers that they're the dishwasher.☺ Doing dishes is relaxing.
Those sinks are designed to have your top overhang
We are just going to have ours flush
Love the kitchen. So....is Thanksgiving at your house this year?😉
As long as somebody else cooks!
T-shirt: "I've never done this before..." (then does it)
What about the wall behind there's nothing there but plastic and insulation
We’re putting plywood there.
Who is the child in your house ? Never saw her before.....
She’s our niece!
@@LaidBackLiving I'll bet she will have many fond memories of staying with you guys in the woods ! Bravo
Vintage mossy oak treestand pattern T-shirt . Pretty rad . Interesting ..... most pnw folks are real tree guys .
You do know that there are people who have channels dedicated to building cabinets and other house hold structures. I hope you've done a little research.
Uh. Anyone ask about the wood backsplash behind the range? You'd figure an open flame in front of wood isn't smart...
"I had to poop in the woods once."
Y'all need to put the wall up behind dishwasher first
Just be carful of your dishwasher some get really hot at the back some have caught fire
Two people don’t need a dishwasher. Ask me how I know.
I might have tried to conceal the screws by the oven by screwing from inside the cabinet
@@clivereynolds6633 you clearly didn't listen to the vlog they asked for feed back about what the viewer would do differently
Don't you need a toe kick?
I cannot imagine living with exposed fiberglass insulation. Very bad for your health. Omg and you are exposing your children. 🤦
1. Not exposed 2. Not our kid
@@LaidBackLiving how can you say it's not exposed. A thin plastic is not air tight 🤦. So if it's not your kid, that's ok. 😲
Looks good, good work, thanks for sharing!
