    Thanks for taking time out to do this review. I've been flying model airplanes with Master Airscrew props for decades, so I jumped at the opportunity to spend some money with them for my awesome Mini 2. Amazingly, even with the ubiquitous supply chain delays from Covid, Master Airscrew says delivery is just a few days. Hoping for the noise reduction clearly evident in your video and the extended flight time.

    Great side by side sound test , I didn’t notice a difference in sound but after watching this I really can hear a difference, but wow Master Airscrew stealth props also gave me about 3:30-4;00 minutes compared to my original ones for my mini 2 SE.from27 minutes to about 31 minutes with stealth ones, no bull crap! Thanks for this review tho!

    Glad to see they have finally got them for the mini2. I have them on my first gen mavic air and I love them. I will probably get them for my mini 2 just because. It did look like they were a little slower, which isn't a deal breaker. Good review if I hadn't seen your channel I wouldn't of known that they finally have the blades.

    Not only is the sound level lower but the frequency too. Hovering at a lower frequency means that the motors are turning slower, eg more efficiently than the stock props.

    When you went up with the regular propeller 100 ft you can hear it loud and clear but when you went up 100 ft with the stealth propeller you can't hear nothing they do work but the weight of them props makes it go slower it's just 1 mile less not that that bad.

    Great video, Bill, the Master Air Screw pops definitely do improve visibility, and I might just get them for that alone. I generally fly at a decent height, so noise isn't really an issue

    How freely do the props spin when the master airscrews are fitted? I've had to return mine as they're pretty tight and I'm getting lots of movement when hovering

    • @UncleBillsTribe
      @UncleBillsTribe 2 роки тому +1

      When first installed they were a bit snug, but after that first flight they freed up and I had no issue hovering. After I did that quick flight in the video I landed and recalibrated my gimbal and put it back up to check my horizon, and she hovered just like always.

    I honestly can only hear the difference? As for faster speed, and all that? I don't think so. I still think you get the same time with both props, and speed. I do like the red ones. I don't know about putting none OEM on a drone? They're a little expensive to be taking chances with. I'll rather keep the originals, that way it won't fall out of nowhere. Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍

    The MAS props fight the wind much better, lift more payload weight and help keep the drone stable at hover. They will flex less in high winds and sport maneuvers producing less noise (this is very noticeable compared to stock). The less they flex the more structurally sound they will be in the long term. If the tips of the MAS props are a little unfinished and your a perfectionist, use sandpaper and nail polish to perfect (be careful).

    • @UncleBillsTribe
      @UncleBillsTribe 2 роки тому +1

      Yup, that's all the things they're designed to do, and I believe that they may deliver. My comments at the end were based on a very small sample. More stick time will tell. Thanks for the comment!

      Those are protective motor covers. They help keep dirt out of the open and exposed motors. I got them from Drone Valley's store, www.dronevalley.com/store/p369/DJI_Mini_2_-_Protective_Motor_Covers.html
      Something to keep in mind, they add 6 grams to the weight of your drone, no problem for the mini 2 unless you want to add any other accessories that may put you over 250g.

  • @jed2055
    @jed2055 2 роки тому

    Mine arrived today and I was not happy to see the tiny plastic protuberances on the prop hub as I installed these MAS props. This is not a quality control issue, it's a manufacturing process issue and it is NOT a good thing to have air turbulence however small, due to non aerodynamic surfaces.

    I’ve been looking at these, but was on the fence whether to buy them, or not.
    Based on your review, I don’t see any advantage to the performance, but I am curious to know if the orange blades made it easier to find the drone in flight.
    Since my eyesight isn’t that good, my problem is trying to locate the drone in flight with the black blades.
    Do the orange blades make it easier to spot the drone in flight?
    Thanks from Houston, TX.

      They definitely stand out against a blue sky and white clouds, the guys in Austin were able to pick it out. Does it help for distance? I can't really get behind that, maybe a little. I'd suggest getting a Ulanzi DR 02 strobe light. It's less than 7 grams and didn't put me over 250 grams. Even in daylight it really extends line of sight.

    Bill, as a pilot, I noticed that your test of MasterAirScrew demonstrated a significant crosswind on the second test. A headwind would slow your test in one direction, becoming a tailwind on the way back speeding up your test. However, you had a as evidenced by a slight tilt in the horizon. A crosswind will slow your speed in BOTH directions, which your test demonstrated. Good video either way. Keep up the good work.

    • @UncleBillsTribe

      They help keep out debris from the open top design of the motors. The idea is that they may help with longevity, although some may argue the additional torque can work against it. I've had them on for about a year, and I've weed whacked a few low hanging palm fronds and so far so good.

    Using the old screws, thread it in and out, to remove the old dried thread lock that was originally on those screws. You’ll lose a prop or two. Make sure the hold was cleared out before using the SAME or OLD screws. Also don’t use loctite as everyone says. Even the blue will eat the mount or props. Thanks Charlie. I could hear the difference pretty clearly. I was holding my phone 18 inches from the drone for both sound tests, but in the room you could hear the db difference. At 100 feet, you could definitely tell the difference.
      As far as quality, Master Airscrew has been making rc props for over 40 years, and they're manufactured in California. Whether that means anything to anyone, I don't mind having something on my drone made here.
      I'm going to do a hover test with full battery to test their longer flight time claims.
      The jury is still out on them for me.

    Thanks for doing this and taking the time to put it out there. I was considering these myself but after watching there doesn't seem to be any benefit to them and if you use DJI care using these would invalidate your cover although how do they would tell I don't know.
    Another thing is I've heard somewhere mentioned that maybe new regs are coming in certain countries saying you should only use original props but how true this is I don't know however I do wonder about using third party props as many countries regulators often stipulated you must read and understand the user manual. I've never seen a user manual for anything that doesn't say always use the manufacturer original parts. This makes me wonder just how bad things could be if something went badly wrong and the authorities were involved.
