I verified my account just to let everyone know that my brother (age ~9 at the time) DID wrap the seat-belt around his neck. We were on a long drive and the nearest stop was a McDonalds. Nobody at McDonalds would give us a knife to cut the seat belt with. He was panicking and writhing, causing the seat belt to tighten around his neck and pretty rapidly losing oxygen as was easily visible because he was slowly turning blue. We managed to find some people in the car park who had a knife on them (they owned horses and it was in their little toolkit) and were able to cut the seat belt.
So Link says "at least it wasn't his neck", and he's not wrong.
Edit: probably should have mentioned that he's nearly 21 now, so it was a long time ago and he was and remains to be totally fine!

Turd Ferguson didn't have much of a choice. We asked the kitchen for a proper knife, they couldn't because of health and safety, and they still wouldn't when we asked if one of their employees could come out with one for us.
That would be terrifying!!! Glad someone nearby had a knife!

I worked for multiple car dealerships and just for information sake, if you have an emergency responder cut the seat belt in this kind of situation the dealer will replace it but if you cut it yourself you will have to pay for it and seatbelts are very expensive.
Also on a side note, Acura and Honda are the same thing lol.
Reality Realized i got stuck in the seatbelt when i was a child and my dad cut it out but honda replaced it for free. maybe they changed the rules since then bc kids keep getting stuck in seatbelts
But then you have to pay for the ambulance driving to you don't you? Even with insurance I hear it's often very expensive. -_-

I worked at Honda specifically in the parts department and they would not replace them for free because you could have cut it for some non emergency reason and blame them and get a free part.
Not saying I agree with the way things are done now just giving a heads up because even in an emergency situation the last thing you want is to have the headache of a $300 seatbelt on top of whatever else. :)

A lot of people don't know about the non-emergency line, they don't tell people about it for some reason. The non-emergency number is just for police though, at least where I live, I wonder if they would have helped her with the squirrel haha

It is a beacon, flashlight, magnet, seatbelt cutter, and window breaker combo! You can buy one on amazon for around 10 bucks. It doesn't have a specific name, but you can find it on google!
How To Take Care For Your Link Neal:

OMG! That totally happened to me when I was younger and my entire family always makes fun of me for it! 😂 Except I had fallen asleep laying down in the backseat and had gotten the seatbelt wrapped around my waist somehow. I really started freaked out, cause every time my grandmother tried to get me out it got tighter so they just had to cut me out of it. They still haven't fixed it lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

It's not just people calling inappropriately, its also the fact that emergency call centers are almost always understaffed and underequipped. Pizza delivery places have better gps locaters than most emergency call centers so they sometimes take too long to resolve problems as they can't locate the caller.
If you go on amazon, they have a tool that can break your car window and cut your seat belts in emergencies. They have a ring you can use to hang it from your mirror:)
I always keep a knife in my car that has the razor blade built in with a window smashing bead on the opposite end of the knife blade

There are keychain attachments that cut seatbelts. I have one that also breaks windows. They're made in such a way that a kid wouldn't be able to easily get hurt with them.

The weird Milk Bone taste Link detects in the cereal is actually the oil in the corn meal going rancid. It won't kill you in small amounts, but rancid oils can be very bad for you if you get too much of them. The older or more rancid it is, the more it will start to smell like paint and taste like a chemical.

My youngest has had knives since he was 6, but I taught him how to use them. You have to expose them under your conditions so when they are in the real world they can comfortably navigate.
I can still remember the episode (years ago I think twas titled 4 yrs old walked into a bar) where Rhett talks about Shepard being independent when he was 4. Try to watch it it's very funny and made me love shepard even more, such an adorable kid.
