Hank sauntering into frame is just so incredibly life giving.
Awwwww
100% i agree!!
I can't think of a better way to start a reunion video. Tied with every other way they've started a reunion video.
Dancing Hank is always the best Hank
@@vlogbrothers i get the option to translate this to english
Hank editing John’s promo image over his own head is what I call real commitment to the bit. Happy Friday!
Commit to the bit!

"There is no air in the water." "There *is* no air in the water, it's a huge problem. Only fish have solved it." God I love these two.
It's always good to be reminded that even Hank Green gets confused sometimes and accidentally trolls his brother by not knowing when to upload a video
Or trolls himself in this one
Hank just, literally falling off the chair cause of "butty" has made my day 🤣
Hope you liked your chip butties lads!
Almost made me fall out of my chair.
As someone from the UK, there is nothing more exciting as a child to learn about a chip butties, I have no idea why but the act of putting chips in a butty, it's like this revolutionary moment as a young one that there is another way to each chips.
(I will also say that chips are often thicker than what I would consider a fry to be)
You could not get through a single lunch at primary school without someone making a crisp butty too, something about them was magical
Everything you said is 100%
@@LeopardAzure my school only allowed chips once a week because of health reasons, so chips butties were that bit more exciting for us.
@@BenM.Davies Chip Butties and Turkey Twizzlers?
@@114hours I remember turkey twizzlers, but only just before Jamie Oliver banned them.
Seeing John and Hank together is like having your crazy but lovable uncles over for a family holiday. Chaos reigns and I love every minute of it. 😂😂😂
I was gonna say “nephews,” but it’s all a matter of perspective. 😎
I wanted to see their reaction to trying Chip Butties... so close.
That deserves its own video.
Lol spoilers
Lol the reaction to what happens when the sun dies perfectly shows the difference between Hank and John 😂
It’s always a ball when you guys are together! Just literally made my day! I hope to have a reunion with my siblings soon 😭😭
My baby sister had her own baby a couple days ago. First one of us to have one! I need sibling time NEED
I hope you get to see your siblings soon! I miss mine dearly 💕
My siblings and I, we're going to have a reunion on Easter :)
Man I know this is so random but my mom recently found out about my weed channel where i smoke weed for a living & now i be thinking about quitting or deleting my stuff🙏
@@milkshakebananaz Me too - congrats!
I love how all these years later Hank still makes how jay say say butt over and over
I was wondering if it is how JAY say or the British pronunciation "howdysay" that makes it sound like there is a j in the middle when you say it fast. Otherwise, it would be how jay sayS.
Oh my favorite things: vlogbrothers, fanfic, and chip butties. This is a throwback in the best way possible!
(Side note: can't believe I've been part of Nerdfighteria for a dozen years!)
Wow I just joined like a month ago
as a British person our food often gets a bad rap, and I get it, but we know what to do with beige food haha. Chip butties are unparalleled
Granny taught Mum to boil the daylight out of everything, which is why I’ve gone polar opposite and prefer crisp veg as an adult.
@@chasbodaniels1744 Must have been something about the war years. My Nanna used to do all her veg in a pressure cooker until it was dead, bless her.
@@NickFoster haha, sure you’re right.
Them both falling over themselves laughing together made my day 😊
Sometimes I forget these two can exist in the same room together.
They always leave out Dave though
It feels like one of them has the wrong background.
It was definitely an experience when I first moved to england and watched someone eat bread and chips and nothing else
one of my friends would, on any sandwich where she got a bag of crisps with it, open the sandwich and carefully place all of the crisps within and then eat it. a very satisfying cronch but a perplexing ritual
It's more perplexing when people have sandwiches, and crisps and not put the crisps in the sandwich. Not sure I've done a whole packet though.
That's the best way to have a sub, IMO.
Crisps/potato chips in any sort of deli sandwich are wonderful. (that is to say, a sandwich with meat and/or cheese. put crisps on a PB&J at your own risk.) Adds salt and crunch, which can elevate boring sandwiches and make already good ones great :D crucial detail is that you should (ideally) combine crisps and sandwich just prior to eating, as otherwise any moisture in the sandwich will quickly make your crisps soggy.
"Learning how to ask the question around the question" is such a great way of putting it. The answer to the question itself is usually just trivia. The question around the question is often the first step toward deeper understanding.

I know this isn't gonna happen, but this is basically a visual version of Dear Hank and John and I would 100% watch the crap out of that.
Whenever they're together you INSTANTLY know they are brothers and besties.
a reunion video!?! i wasn’t prepared for this. aahh
Ideally a chip buttie shouldn't be made with two slices of bread but instead use a buttered bap (also known as a roll or cob or barm cake or batch)
It's always the best when videos end with "Hank/John, I'll continue to see you right now" 💕
Guys from a brit they're absolutely called chip butties...
Also, you DO NOT make them with french fries they need to be made with chunky chips, preferably from a chippy. I'm aware this is confusing.
@@miacoss9809 I remember the confusion on the face my friend's Californian born and raised girlfriend when I visited their home in San Francisco and my friend's Geordie dad decided to make proper chip butties as a treat for us all for me coming all the way. Finished the day by confusing her further by putting on the 1st series of Gavin and Stacy 😂😂😂
Yep, it's chip butties, or chippy tea, but never chippy butty!
@@miacoss9809 yeah, most americans aren't aware that brits differenciate between thin cut and thick cuts fries with that vernacular, since we just call them all fries (until the point where they are wedge-shaped, and then they're potato wedges).. if they had fries at home i'd guess they were st least semi thick-cut so they probably got an alright butty experience
You can also have a crisp sandwich (exactly as it sounds) which in America would become a chip sandwich!
Brit here: It's not a chip butty unless it's using thick cut chips from the local chippy. Chip shop curry sauce or gravy is optional.
ketchup is the way to go in my opinion.
No just butter but ALWAYS white bread 🍞
Wow, I have no idea what you just said. What is the local chippy?
@@sara-ww8eq local fish and chip takeaway. 'Chippie'

Because of *gestures wildly at everything* I haven’t been able to see my sister for almost 3 years. I can’t wait to have my own reunion this summer!
I don’t know what makes me happier: seeing you both together or seeing that “Turtles All the Way Down” is going to be a movie. I’m *very* intrigued to see how that is going to translate, but going off what I know so far, my hopes are high.
Hank realizing he just sabotaged his own video is my emotional support animal for the day
This was delightful. Hank and John, you should ask your mom to have birthdays more often so that we get more of these.
I absolutely love it when Hank and John get together.
I did not expect the brothers to react to the word "butty" that significantly, but I am so here for it.
The fact that John just listed like my 4 fave podcasts just left me shook
I'm going to add for extra confusion, in Wales a 'butty' is also slang for a friend. So you could go for a chip butty with your butty (also in Cardiff we have a street called Chippy Lane, where you could also buy chip butties with your butty....anyway...)
isn't that a buddy though?
@@DanielBoonelight Butty came first. Which itself probably came from 'booty fellow' (someone with whom one shares plunder), or another kind of workmate.
@@DanielBoonelight it's butty in Wales as in y'alright But

@@caitlin329 @Mairi White haha thanks y'all... i love these...
Oh thank goodness!! Ever since I knew you were together I've been waiting for the reunion video :')
This channel consistently brings me such great joy. I love that this short conversation about tapping into your learning potential as an adult leads to silliness and fun so directly. I’d love to see more people connect those things together.
This a remarkably stupendous vlogbrothers video and I just wanted to say thank you to guys for over the years teaching me some much about writing and history and science and life. So thank you! As a young nerdfighter you guys have made a huge impact on me over the years.
My heart is full of joy watching this video 💖
Oooo, the energy in this video is contagious. What a wonderful way to start the day!
OMG the Green family is a national treasure. A gift to mankind. I love you guys and your contributions on youtube. Thank you.
Audiobooks are a great way of learning when you're not into reading. Sort of like a movie in the mind when you close your eyes and simply listen to the story coming to life.
One of my favorite books to read my kids is Elbert, The Curious Clock Tower Bear by Andrew Prahin. Elbert, whose curiosity interferes with his duties, is given a day to rid himself of his curiosity so he can return to the clock tower, but the harder he tries to leave his curiosity behind, the more he is drawn into a world of questions and discovery.
I read this book for my children as much as I'm reading it to myself.
The sibling rapport is just so fun and entertaining to watch.
How does the earth not explode when you two are together?! 😍
I love that putting you guys in the same room immediately reverts you to a couple of teenage boys 😂 Great vid guys
For the longest time I wanted the relationship you had as brothers... but just last week I realised I did in fact have it. we had a holiday away for our dads birthday and it was great. I'm so happy you are happy... Craig I'll see you tomorrow!
“Ologies” is another great learn-something-new podcast! I found it on Spotify :)
Another podcast recommendation would be Exolore! The host has a PhD in astrophysics and also studied mythology/folklore. The podcast focuses on building fictional worlds using real world science
I’m always listening to podcasts as I work so thank you for the recommendation, I’ll give it a go.
Oh god... It's been so many years, and I still hear "whores doovers" in my head weekly.
I love how they both danced in this video in their own way.
I love these guys being brothers ❤️
"Chip" butty. A chip is a French fry. A "chippy" is a slang term for a fish-and-chips shop.
I love the fun energy when you to are together and love your insight on certain topics. 🧡
These are the two most entertaining brothers in entertainment history imo
A reunion video?!?! LETS GOOO!!! Heck ya dance Hank!!!
Hank dancing into the shot is just perfect!!!
Y’all bring so much joy, especially on this snowy spring morning! Fingers crossed for some chippy buttie (butty? what’s the singular here?) out-takes on hankschannel
Butty is the singular. however, it is a chip butty, as John said at first. Also crisp butties are popular, what the British call crisps but Americans would call potato chips. They are so important that there are dialect words in different parts of the UK. Sarnies down south. Barm, cob, roll and stottie are used in various parts of the North.
The bomb! I need a regularly updating list of podcast and book recs from you two. Everything I've followed has been gold.
Love that the vlogbrothers channel announcement that Turtles All The Way Down is going to be a movie took up much less time that John and Hank discovering Chippy Butties
It's a REUNION VIDEO excellent for our Friday
I MISS HANGING OUT WITH YOU GUYS hope you’re both doing okay.
It makes me soooo happy to see you guys together. Universe complete.
Lol John and hanks reaction to the butties thing actually made me laugh out loud in my dead silent discussion class that starts in 3 min
I love you both. From all of us without brothers and without families, thank you for being kind to each other.
I love reunion videos so much
🤣 chip butties are amazing! But they work best with chip shop chips (thicker and softer than “French fries”) and personally I prefer mine without butter, and sometimes a bit of ketchup.
Not to be a huge angry British stereotype, but chip (not chippy) buttys are incredible, and are only really good when made with a very cheap bread roll, lots of butter, and chips from a fish and chip shop (this is a chippy).
Can I just say how much this vlogbrother video made my day?! You two are the best together! Lucky mom to have you both there to celebrate!
Is this the secret video...? It doesn't feel like a secret video.
I do love a reuniom video though 😁
Your energy when you two are together is always infectious.
I love every reunion video so much but you both seem just extra happy here and that makes me so happy
Peace, love, & happy Friday
Begging for a longer version on hankschannel
I'm pretty sure John's Heavyweight episode crushed me in the best possible way.
Same
You said Turtles all the way Down will be a movie and it made me cry. That book spoke to my mental health so well. Thank you so much.
Blessed are children who honor their parents. Your mom must be very proud of you.
Can you imagine the birthday conversation? Happy Belated Birthday Hank and John's Mum!
Happiest of birthdays to your mother! Thanks for the residual gift of a reunion video
I feel I should point out that a chip butty with french fries is not a chip butty.
Americans think French Fries is a term that applies to all chips, and chips is a term that applies to crisps. They are strange folk.
@@weareanonymous353 pot calling the kettle black here my friend
@@DeanCalhoun all folk are strange folk, that's what keeps them interesting
@@weareanonymous353 "Americans think French Fries is a term that applies to all chips, and chips is a term that applies to crisps." We think that because that is what those words mean here 😉
As an Australian when I hear french fries I think of the skinny ones you get at McDonalds. A chip butty has to have those 1-1.5cm thick chips from a fish and chip shop!
I'm very glad i used my busride to watch this, it made me smile and laugh like a silly person, and I like being silly on the bus hoping someone else will see and recognise Nerdfighteria 🖖🖖
Hi John and Hank! Love from Poland!
Hank and John are the only people who have ever made me wish I wasn't an only child. Love their dynamic when they're together
this helps me missing my twin sister hurt a little bit less so thank you both
Happy, blessed birthday, Mom Green, and congratulations on raising wonderful sons! I am green with envy.
I think Hank should begin his videos dancing into the frame. amusing magic. Reunion videos are grand
OMG!!! It's great to see them together 👀🙌💚💚💚
"There is no water in this air!" The Incredibles-Vlog Brothers crossover we didn't know we needed.
I actually pumped my fist in the air when John mentioned Throughline. Okay, but seriously, it is a FANTASTIC podcast.
The reaction to that pronunciation of butty was pure gold 😂 hope you enjoyed chip butties haha! You should look up butteries next 😆
I feel so good to be currently watching all Brotherhood2.0 videos and GET THE KEANU REFERENCE. Like, literally saw Hank’s video about that interview a few days ago. I feel so “in” on the joke, woohoo!
I'm very glad that THIS is how you dicover what a butty is. Not by visiting the UK, but by HowJSay.
I got an audible ad at the end of this video, and I’ve got to say, that’s good targeting haha
Reunion videos make my day!!
Finding and refining good questions also gets you through grad school. But it's an important life skill, not just an academic one. May we all be blessed with curiosity and awe.
I can't wait for the outtakes video!!!
I want to see Hank eating a buttie
Pick up hobbies that interest you! To keep learning, just getting into that headspace is so much fun
Happy birthday mother of Hank and John!
Also, how you refer to the bread used in your carbohydrate sandwich varies from region to region. Butty, cob, barm/barm-cake, bun, bap, batch...
I'm a Londoner but my family roots are in Nottinghamshire and I went to uni in Nottingham. There was a certain amount adaptation required in remembering to order a chip *cob* at 2am after eight pints.
I'm from Nottingham. They'd know what you meant if you said chip butty, easily. People say it.
The cob is the roll itself, so it's interchangeable. I'd say the butty is usually the whole sandwich, not the bread alone. So one could make a butty using a cob, but not vice versa.
Thanks for the podcast recommendations. Yours are still my faves, though!
I love when Hank and John are together. The pure joy they share in each other's company is infectious.
I love what you say about learning and inquiry!
I see John made it out of the airport!
