Dude you’re awesome! I have a RHD wrangler that I’ve been working on for my wife and you going into detail has helped me out ALOT. To some people it’s “who cares “but to guys like me it helps.
Thanks! Just bought my first Jeep and this is something my boys and I will be doing in the near future. You got a new sub. Appreciate all of the tips you share.
Thanks God you came back bruh! I’ve been watching your videos and all of them are super helpful! Thanks for this DIY!!! I have a request, I know you have a video showing how to connect your interior led glow to the headlight and you spliced the wires to the turn signal but I still don’t know how to check which one it’s my wire. Could you please make another video with more detail!!!! I would really appreciate that! I have a JL wrangler and I want to know how to test that so I can connect the interior led lights to the headlight button!!!! Thanks buddy!!! Keep doing videos dude! 💪🏼 😃 👍🏼 OIIIIIIIO
Hey! Glad you’re (kinda) back! I just replaced the brakes on my 2014 2 weeks ago. I have 2 recommendations that you missed or didn’t show. First I would definitely use Brake Clean to clean the rotors and everything and second you should really use brake grease on the brake pad slides (clips). Other than that, awesome vid as usual! Keep up the good work, brother!
Is it necessary to open the brake fluid reservoir when compressing the brake to prevent ruptures or leaks in the brake lines? Awesome video by the way, thanks for sharing your skills!
There is no caliper door, but great video! It really is that easy, people have no idea. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on the front and back, autozone lifetime warranty on pads and free brake pads every time you need them! .
Dex! Thanks for the video! I was always afraid to do my own brakes but after watching your video I know I can do this. The only thing left is to learn how to purge brakes. On my to do list.
FYI anyone who lives in northern areas with lots of rust, your rotors are going to be a huge hassle to take off and its likely going to take a WHILE to do so. Took me a couple hours per rotor because they were seized up so bad. Also another tip, do NOT engage your parking brake during this whole process.
Thanks! Very helpful, along with the helpful comments to add to it. Only thing for me... maybe it’s all the stop and go traffic, but I change my pads much closer to every 15k miles. Alignment issues?
You failed to mention that when you compress the caliper the brake fluid has to go somewhere and it will likely overflow the reservoir if you do not pull some out. It's also a real good time to flush out all the nasty Brake fluid in the system. you can use the bleed screw on the caliper to avoid pushing the old fluid back into the lines and then make sure the reservoir is still full after all four wheels are done.
Why would any brake fluid be nasty in a closed system not exposed to the outside ever, at least on the Jeep it is this way? You typically never need to replace it unless you got a new Master Cylinder or had a air leak.
Make sure brake fluid reservoir doesn't overflow when pressing calipers back out. Also good time to change and flush brake fluid when you're changing your brakes.
Driving habits are key. You run and gun, brakes fail early. On Craveman (now totaled) I got 85K and kept the rotors. I was running 6 speed and gearing down into stops.
Depends. As the pads wear, there is more room in the system so your level appears lower while driving even with the same/proper amount of fluid. When you compress the caliper to make room for new pads, fluid gets pushed up and some can spill out. That's why having the cap open and a rag or something around is a good idea. If you work slowly and don't compress anymore than you need, and weren't overfilled to begin with, the mess is very minimal or nonexistent.
For the front calipers can’t you compress the piston with a flathead screw driver before removing the caliper? You shouldn’t need a tool for front breaks, ever. Nice. Thanks for the video. Here’s some constructive criticism, Pop off the master cylinder cap, put rag under master, this way when the piston is compressed the brake fluid doesn’t make a mess. Also, if it’s really seized, use a BFH (big fuckin hammer) and smash that rotor, shock it free. A rubber mallet won’t work for a rusty seized rotor.
Thank I tried the screwdriver deal you suggest. WIN!!!! And Dex,if just doin a pad change just remove the Cali by taking out the two 13mm with the boots. makes fir a quicker pad change. I went with the Power-Stop Z-36 drilled slotted. Stop on a dime whereas the standard was alot more pedal pressure. Stockers seem to glaze up more than I would like.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed! Press like for more Jeep videos!! #jeepwave
What year is this

A large C clamp and one of the old pads can be used to depress the pistons if you are without a piston press.

im loving your channel u make it easy when to doing work on my jeep thank u
I'm starting to think about doing my brakes myself... This will definitely help! Thanks AdventureDex!
Go for it! It isn't hard at all!
I just paid $650 at dealer for the rear brakes on my 2016 jku ,lol what a ripoff !
Yes miss someone that knows how to teach.✌ Thanks Dex.
Welcome back bro! A lot has changed with The Jeep you should see it!
Thanks a lot!! 👍🏼
Just changed out my brake pads on my JK. Used a flathead screwdriver to compress the pistons. Just do it first before you open the door.
It's nice to see you're wearing your regulation safety flip flops.
🤣🤣 I knew someone would have to point that out!
broooooo welcome backkkkk

No it’s not really necessary. Just make sure it’s always full. Thanks for watching

Been a hot minute since you were on the tube!

Where you been!!!! Nice to see your okay. 😀
I was thinking the other day, where in the heck has AdventureDex been hiding? Great to see you back.
Thanks John! 🙌🏼
Glad to see ya back.
Thanks Ben! 🙌🏼
I just replaced my power stop brakes on my F350. The break in process is quite involved. You should do a break in process video as well.👍
Thanks for the suggestion! 👍🏼👍🏼
Dad your back I missed you!
Thanks for the support!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
This guy is cool. Great video!!!
great to have you back, great video and nice upgrade for the big tires OllllO 🇵🇷
Thanks Rafael! 🙌🏼

Glad your back...
Welcome back! As always, digging the videos. Ready to do brakes on mine!
Thanks Eric! 🙌🏼
It certainly wouldn't hurt to put a little coat of anti seize between the brake hubs and the new front rotors. It helps to get them off in the future.
Great vids. Question: why didn't you use the Power Stop K2798-36 Z36 Truck & Tow Front and Rear Brake Kit?
Thanks for the video I learning about it
Welcome back my favorite man I love you videos bro 👍👊 log time to see you😘😘👏👏👏👍👍👍👊👊👊
Thanks Raul!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@adventuredex more videos my . man I love you videos super nice adventure dex
great seeing you Dex my Jeep needs a coolant sensor it's behind the driver side wheel do I have to take the wheel off?
Taking the wheel off makes everything easier especially if you have bigger wheels. Don’t be afraid the take it apart haha!
Welcome back, Dex!
Thanks!! 🙌🏼

He has to bleed his brakes
@@viewwithdrew7912 no need to bleed the brakes unless you change calipers.
@@viewwithdrew7912 you have no idea what you are talking about
Nice build 🤙🏻
Beautiful build!!!!!!

I am at dealer right now,its costing me $650 for parts and labor for the rear pads and rotors ,wow i could have done this !
Ur still alive! 🙌🙌🙌
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Man, where have you been? Did you get locked up?😬😂
Glad you’re back!!
Thank you for the video, I like your tires, what brand and size are they, planning to upgrade 😇
Hey, Great vids! Say, can the hood bumpers for theft downed windshield be removed on the JL?
Thanks a lot. I am not entirely sure because I don’t have a JL sorry!
Yo Dex is back!
Heyy!!!
Dude, stop disappearing! We love you 🤣
Right here man! Am going to try to be more consistent! 👌🏼👌🏼
Thought this man died or sum 😂😂😂 been MIA for the last year or so bro but we still here 😂💪💯
Great job.
Welcome back 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks!! 👌🏼👌🏼
Sea clamp the same thing with using the old pad to push ?
New subscriber. Thank you for your content
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
So I'm to assume that there's no need for any adjustment or bleeding? Since u didn't drive it on camera?
Great video
Thanks for sharing bro
The bloopers 😂😂😂😂
5 minutes in and I’m convinced I’ll mess up lol. I’ll just take it to the car shop. 😅
😅😅😅😅
nice and easy!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed!!
My distrust of mechanics brought me here.

whats with the brake pads inside the rotors?
What???
@@adventuredex when you removed the rotor there were brake pads "drum type" inside @ 4.05

@@bvanter ahh thanks. Great work on all your vid's too. Keep it up.
No need to bleed lines?
Yah can bleed them however it is not necessary unless your noticing looseness in the brake pedal. 👍🏼
Damn man you were away so long I sold my jeep HaHa
Damn!! Haha
Slotted and drilled rotors are just gateway spots for mud, rock and sediment. Most of us that do that sort of wheeling stick with full rotors.
By the way, you should paint your brake caliber red, to go with your color scheme for your jeep. 🤔Just a option 🤷🏾♂️I painted mines a glossy black.
Yah I thought about it but wasn’t sure! Maybe in the future! I didn’t want it to look to “racey”
He does not mention the brake fluid. When you compress the piston the brake fluid will overflow in the reservoir no???

Remove the bottom bolt then remove the top. No matter what you’re working on
I like the end part 😂
Thanks man! 👍🏼
You don't NEED a piston press kit, although it's a bit easier, all you need is a C-Clamp and a piece of wood..
What would have gone wrong if the caliper falls off...
Hey friend
Hey!!

Not really a complete kit, as it doesn't include the calipers.
True but complete kit for worn down brakes! OEM calipers are good no real reason to change them
easier when the clips ACTUALLY clip and lock in unlike my shit luck
I’m about to lol
LOL! classic.
😁😁
Funny!!
Thanks
I fkn hate drum brakes!
Good to see you back!!
