Ooh, I love the idea of this, just a huge box full of floppies with unknown content. So much excitement about what could be on them! I shall also find the video of the first box like this now.
My mom was big on genealogy before she had kids, so she has a sizeable collection of the Family Tree Maker software and other software like it. They're mostly CDs from what I can tell, but just looking at them is pretty cool!
@@ExperimentIV funny i just got rid of my Atari STE with an external 40MB hard drive. This version had the MIDI ports built-in. Depending on the age of person/people involved, it's either, "Oh, a box of floppies, that's not for us!" or "What are these, they're kinda big for SD Cards! Hey, Steve, what are these?!!"
I find it funny how the diskettes that drew a Windows 3.1 interface did it wrong. Note the Maximize button to the left of the Restore button. Normally you’d see a Minimize button to the left of either a Maximize or Restore button.

@@arteonyx Yes they can. If you put a floppy drive into a Windows 10 machine, it will be recognized. And FAT16 is still supported, so you'll be able to read/write it too. I'm not entirely sure about formatting though.
2:47 there has been A LOT of irregularities with the postal service and deliveries in general, I wish I could remember the name of the video that had A BUNCH of comments of people describing their previous awful experiences of shipping or having stuff shipped by USPS
As for the font pack - I've got one of these with my Canon BJC-4650 printer in 2001 (on a diskette as well). Not sure whether it is this exact font pack. It is when the fonts were not free and you had to purchase these separately. You had a nice free pack of fonts to use together with your limited bundled set of fonts for Win 3.1. Unfortunately, these were ASCII only, so, e.g. you could not really use them if your country does not use Latin alphabet. They work fine in later versions of Windows. Tested them on Windows 7 and they worked fine. Got a similar diskette with a fonts pack with HP LaserJet 6L.
Procomm Plus - Serial/Modem Terminal Software Acronis - Backup related WRQ Reflection - Mainframe or Unix terminal software Sterling Software - Makes things for mainframes or accounting CA - Mainframe and or accounting HP Colorado - Tape Drive software (Colorado Backup)
I know this video is a month old but it would be nice to see a mashup of different floppys from this video, just showing the software and stuff on disks. Curious about things like the truetype font by canon as uninteresting as that may be. Would love to see a bunch of these explored. I know you have another video where you sat and tested 100 broken floppy disks, i'd like to see something similiar with these on the software with the more interesting picks of the lot.
You should copy all Data from Floppy Disks to CD/DVD or USB as Back up, because JP person (born in 2000 after) they don't know what is this, too shame.
That version of netscape was my childhood I loved it and always had less issues than other browsers. I wish there was a skin for modern browsers to look like those old versions of netscape
Would love to see a Video of the differnet terminal emulator programs that are in theis set, for example the Reflection stuff and the "The Eye" software from Sterling.
now that you have that norton antivirus diskettes it could be quite neat for a retrospective about Norton Antivirus and why it was so popular back then and why nowdays is one of the worst antivirus. Like a Rise and Fall of Norton Antivirus because i hold a special place for that antivirus because my father used to like that program until we got infected with a Executable injecting virus that crapped all our files into oblivion and Norton did nothing to prevent it sadly, he then moved to Panda Antivirus i still have some of the discs they used to mail you when you brought a subscription but since we had a rough time years ago and was quite expensive to have that suscription going on we just cancel it.
god i’m in love with those pink floppies! if anyone has any they wanna get rid of... hmu? also looking for teal. DDs or High Densities are fine - I’ve got an Atari ST and a windows machine

I'm so fascinated by old tech, and I really like watching videos about these. Very entertaining!
Thank you Michael for hearting my comment! (Haven't edited the comment because as I know when editing comments the heart is removed)
Same here dude
You should visit one of these computer museums when possible. Some have some very cool old tech.

I want to buy some floppy disks and a reader/writer of some sort just to see what would happen.
Now I'm guessing you're gonna test them.
"We thought this was for us"
In Argentina something similar happened, but the PS actually stole thousands of packages.

I literally screamed out loud of joy when this came up in recommended!
Maybe I don't remember those times when floppy disks were used and were popular, but I understand how it felt
Low density disks only have one hole ( some people call them holes punch) , HD disks have 2 holes.
honestly if mjd doesn’t wanna keep the LD/DDs, I’ve got an Atari ST that needs more floppies I can write software for

Wait, USPS opened it up even with your name on it and PO Box on it? Holy hell. How daft can they be? (lovely video though)

The USPS is a disaster right now. I can’t get anything mailed out and they’ve handled Christmas terribly.
Installing games with 3 or 4 floppy disks was like madness back in the day 🤣
If you think 3 to 4 floppies was tense, try 8 or so for the DOS port of mortal Kombat II
A lot of floppies... but not even a GB of space XD
I honestly cannot wait to see if these floppy disks are actually broken
I dont know how i found ur channel but im glad i did :)

Dump all of the floppies and upload them to the internet archive just in case.
If the internet archive stops getting fucked with, I'm absolutely curious about the recipes, and the Fonts, that those disks provide.
Yes copy that floppy!
